  1. I agree that not all glamping is the same, Worthy View is on a different scale to Camp Kerala.

I think my main objection to some of the really expensive options is where you can buy your entry ticket as part of the package.

I don't really mind people camping where the hell they like as long as they have had the same chance of a ticket as everyone else. Short-cutting the system and getting a ticket merely based on the ability to pay huge amounts of money is inherently wrong in my book.

Without wanting to be argumentative, isn't this just a case of drawing lines?  Is it also inherently wrong that some people might want to go to the Festival but can't afford to?

I thought this before I went out earlier!

    Has anyone?

Yes, but only deliberately because it was mentioned - not properly!

  2. I don't really care where people are camping, everyone gets their Glastonbury experience based on what type of person they are anyway regardless of where they stay.

Now here's a comment that I think it's difficult to disagree with, whatever side of the discussion you may be on.

  3. Are there more nobs and dickheads at the festival since the rise of glamping and increase of hospitality areas? That may be a never ending argument/discussion

I imagine they are strongly correlated but with no causal link. Kind of like:

    Temp.jpg

Let's imagine a scenario where it would be possible to properly A/B test this... two otherwise identical festivals with one difference - festival A had regular camping only, while festival B had WV, tipis, campervan fields and off-site 'luxury' camping such as Camp Kerala etc.

If it were possible to attend both of these festivals with no knowledge about which was which, would you notice a difference between them in terms of atmosphere? My hypothesis is that they would be indistinguishable to the vast majority of people.

  4.

An Us Vs Them attitude comes naturally to loads of people I find...............or maybe Im just an old cynic

Most definitely... although in my experience it's mainly them that have that sort of attitude, not us :)

  5. You spilt my pint?

    I'm sorry.

    strawberry cider please. :-)

A few years back somebody kicked my pint over by accident near the Brothers Bar at some ungodly hour of the night.

My recollection of the event was that I was unconcerned, turned down an offer of a replacement but was eventually persuaded to accept it.  Everyone else who was with me insists that I frogmarched the offender straight to the bar and insisted that they replace it immediately.

I still don't know which is the truth... if it was the latter then I'm very sorry to whoever that was.

  6. Last year I went to Glastonbury with my girlfriend who I was totally in love with, this song had just come out and I was so into it (obviously, fucking incredible tune). I saw the 2 Bears DJ at Stonebridge and they dropped this extended version before it had come out and I had a proper emotional moment thinking about her (she'd gone to bed). We got back from Glastonbury and she broke up with me like 2 days later and this became my breakup song. None of my friends are coming to see Caribou with me this year (Jamie XX) so if you see some guy by himself overwhelmed with emotion maybe go over and give him a hug or something.

Damn that sucks.  My "only one I dream about" won't be there, but I'll at least be seeing her on the Tuesday straight after.

On the plus side, you'll have 10 minutes of 'Sun' to pick you back up!

  7. Really looking forward to Dub Pistols, but my vote goes to these young scamps. 1am Friday night on Croissant Neuf - Chainska Brassika

Incidentally I appear to be incapable of embedding the video.  If anyone has a quick tip on why I'm being an idiot I'd appreciate it.

Quark - no need to do anything fancy, just past the link straight in to your post as 'normal' text and it does itself:

And thanks... may well check them out.

  8. Does anyone have any recommendations from the line up that would be classed as electro-swing?

We had a great time at Parov Stelar last year, but to be honest I know very little about the genre and some of the other bits I've listened to have been fairly poor in comparison.

I've spotted The Electric Swing Circus on Avalon Sunday night - anything else that might be worth checking out?

  13. Did that feel good MrMac?

And yeah I was planning seeing a bit of Caribou then heading to the Park for Jamie XX, whats the deal?

No great pleasure... I know I'm not really his target audience (although I saw about 20 mins of his Global Gathering performance, whenever that was).

Re Caribou, a mate who's a fan said that in previous years his live sound has been upbeat, energetic, even aggressive, but at the weekend it was disappointingly sedate.

With luck he's saving all up for Glastonbury!
