This would be unreal. I saw Sigur Ros last Sunday and it was the best I've seen them. So captivating.

Great to hear!  Saw them at Jodrell Bank when Kveikur came out.  Was amazing.

This would be weak for me. Would enjoy Mabe Fratti, Makaya McCraven, Gilla Band, Caroline, Kelela and The Walkmen though.

Tried to make it sort of realistic, although it would be strong for me overall.  Looking forward to seeing the Primavera line up to see which gems might be popping up next year.

  3. I had tickets to see Caroline at Heaven in London a few days before the first lockdown was imposed.  I decided to leave it as I didn’t fancy risking it at the time, thinking I’d see her pretty soon after. Still not seen her and very excited to finally get a chance to!

Also, don’t skip Arooj Aftab!  You might think it wouldn’t work as well outdoors but her set at Green Man this year was so good, and that was outdoors in the sunshine.

  4. Think it’s great that Wide Awake have chosen to give a female artist her first ever festival headline slot rather than a safer booking.

I personally don’t think it matters that she’s playing a London show in the same year.  Not all of her fans (me!) are able to get to a mid week show so I’m thrilled she’s doing a weekend festival.

You might know her band Chairlift, which disbanded in 2017?  Anyway, she is an extremely well regarded Art-Pop artist with a brilliant voice.  Her album Pang was released in 2019 to much acclaim (she realised one prior to this but it didn’t get much of a reception, as it was not widely available and it’s an ambient album).  I’d recommend checking out Door and So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings - both singles were pretty massive in 2019, particularly SHYHMF.

I agree it’s a change in style for a headliner. My view is that she is much better than the previous headliners they’ve had though.  There are somewhat similar artists on this year’s line up (Shygirl and Coucoe Chloe) so it’s probably a slight shift in booking strategy - or perhaps they just don’t want to book high quality and varied acts each year and not be pigeonholed into a certain style, which is fair enough.

Ignore the “don’t” here haha - typo!

Erol alkan, Avery, OSEES, APTBS, ty segall all worth the admission alone.

Must admit I've never heard of the headliner and had a listen and it sounds very bland mainstream pop? Maybe it comes across different live but didn't seem like a normal wide awake booking.

Here’s my wishlist - my first time this year, so no idea if any of this lot have played recently. It’s going to be a long couple of months waiting for that first line up to drop!
    Midlake

    Snapped Ankles

    Julia Jacklin

    OSees

    Lambchop

    King Giz

    Joan as Policewoman

    BC Camplight

    Lovely Eggs

    Pom Poko

    Terry

    Dana Gavanski

Snapped Ankles, Julia Jacklin, Joan as Policewoman, BC Camplight and Lovely Eggs have all played recently from memory.  That doesn’t stop them being there next year though!

I think OSees are nailed on.  Seem to be active next summer, including over GM weekend.  Would expect them to be one of the FO headliners.

Picked up tickets for Dot to Dot end of May as Alvvays missed Cardiff and Bristol last month, last time I saw them was Eotr 2017. They hardly ever come to the UK so could this rule them out of coming back in August for Green Man perhaps.

They’ll be there.  Keep the faith 🙏

  9. I’d love any of Simz, Bjork, Pavement, Sigur Ros, Phoebe Bridgers, Roisin Murphy or Jon Hopkins as headliners.  But I would be more than happy with one of those and then someone else good on FO, WG or rising (e.g. dreaming of a Phil Evrum/Mount Eerie WG set and a Bikini Kill FO set).

Just read The Walkmen are blowing the dust off their socials leading people to speculate on a reunion. If true I'll be buying tickets anyway but would be a great addition to Green Man.

Didn’t see this before I posted my other message.  Would be a cool booking even if I don’t really know them that well, apart from THAT song…

Hey, I didn't do the Ringway in the end as didn't feel great and weather was a bit rubbish. I've just signed up for a run on Saturday though in Kirkstall. Just shy of 9 miles.

What's the New Year's Day one?

Thinking of doing a half marathon in Bridlington on New Year's Eve.

    Good stuff - enjoy!

The New Year’s Day one is called the Knackercracker - https://www.trionium.com/knackercracker/

Looks like a good event.  Think a lot do it in fancy dress.  473m of ascent around Box Hill - which is sizeable for a 10k.  Looking forward to it!

I've signed up for Rombalds Stride which takes place early February. Approx 24 miles over Ilkley Moor and local areas. Also signed up for Chevin Dash (Boxing Day, so no booze on Xmas Day!) It's 7 miles but again, up over big steep hills and stuff.

I'm also going to attempt to run/jog/canter the Harrogate Ringway Walk this coming Saturday (22 miles).

Awesome!  How did the Ringway Walk go?  Impressive to go for a Boxing Day race, although I'm in for one on New Years Day - not sure which is worse haha!

Very excited by this. Also at that festival are Crack Cloud, and I know they only played GM in 2021 but I saw them last night and they were absolutely incredible so I would love to see them on the line up for next year.

Yep would be good to have them there, although I’m not enamoured with the new album tbh.  Really hoping Les Savy Fav - who are also at Canela Party - are added.  Saw them in 2011 at one of my first ever gigs and still one of the best I’ve ever been at!
