Would be a big missed opportunity if MCR wouldn't play in belgium for me. Buy message was clear after jazebels post. I'll be trying to score tickets for MCR's third MK stadium show.

I think that Bologna will be less expensive (the ticket surely is 40 € against 80 £, it has an international airport as well and the city and accomodations are cheaper), and the band will be less exhausted from 2 days in a row performing. Plus, the venue should be bigger.

You lose in terms of organization tho, since italian shows are usually messier than England's. But here, another chance.

Im not sure about this guys. I mean there was never ever somebody who hinted in this "cheap" way.

Account with 1 posts. Deleted the original message afterwards.

    Eminem included?

    I give it a 10% credibility.

I'm starting to reckon that we simply do not have any insider this year.

The guy leaking 5 heads out of 7 said a big announcement in terms of quantity would happen tomorrow and no info has been released about this yet, and it makes it suspicious. This guy just comes and tag some lyrics piece randomly.

Anybody can leak with a new account, so I'll just stay quiet and dont care about it much, names are on their way because it's almost february, but I am actually tired of hearing from random intel gurus

Eminem, Shawn Mendes, Foals, Khalid, Tom Walker, The Neighbourhood and Of Monsters and Men?

Not aware of touring schedule of most of them, but that sounds reasonable - and partially welcome.

To be fair, both Way and Iero had extensive solo tours in both Russia and Ukraine when everybody else gave up on them. This kind of fanatic following might be the factor.

That or the fact that eastern promoters are forced by the low palatability of their festivals and the territorial distances to propose higher and higher cachets.

Plus the fact that they require an headliner status that nobody that really matters in the circuit is up to give it to them, may those be Coachella, Mad Cool or Rock Werchter, makes the demand of the band non-sense and the whole reason of the reunion highly suspicious.

I mean, I'm okay that almost any reunion is a cash cow event, but at least don't make it so obvious.

  5. 4 minutes ago, Dietediet said:

Looks like they've changed their plans to standalone/BST type of headlining shows.

    I'm tilted.

They went from "We want to headline Coachella" to "Okay, it's fine to headline Volt and sell our greedy asses to eastern festivals instead of the main circuit for a bag of cash", and then release press interview where they say that it is not about the money

Might give up on Bologna as well, as the whole thing looks like a cashgrabbing parade right now, and not the kind I'm too keen to take part to.

    For one time...

Nice quality names still to come for RW. A lot of them. A lot of great female acts too. This batch of names was logic. People who are liking the more commercial names are happy now, the feedback on social media were very clear about that. Most of the people need this type of easy commercial artists. I don't have to say how many criticism they get because it was too alternative (FNM, Pixies, Wilco, Strokes, Thom Yorke... are not those easy mass acts). I'm not happy with every artist, but they fit the RW philosophy perfect. Some names mentioned, people are thinking that they won't come anymore to RW (because they have a loaded schedule or ...) , will still play and will be announced very soon.

Not easy to make the perfect line up, same story every year. And yes, everybody can say that.

    Till next time...

PS: stop about MCR, please 😂

The most hyped return of the year is Ken - Efestivals, to hell with MCR, RATM or The Strokes

Has anyone ever watched the 7 headliners at Sziget?

    for me:

    2014: 6
    2015: 5
    2016: 3

So 1 or 2 for my next one :D

Let's take a walk on memory lane

    2014: 7 on 7 - went only through half of Calvin Harris, as it was too painful. Bonus points: lost both QOTSA and Placebo for bad time management;

    2015: 3 on 7 - Robbie Williams, Florence and Alt J

    2016: 5 on 7

2018:  5 on 7, but left Lana half in the performance because I found her dull

2019: 1 on 1 (eheh) - but I guess I'd have done 5 on 7 (Ed Sheeran and Florence, plus Martin Garrix and Posty for the lulz). Funny fact: I had the tickets for the Florence day, but I lost the flight in the morning from Warsaw where I was and had to take a detour to Paris in order to get to the island without having to sell a kidney and eventually I arrived at midnight or so, so I lost the whole day until David August

I'm bored and not done this for a few weeks, so here goes:

    • Billie Eilish subbed by Sigrid
    • Liam Gallagher subbed by Foals
    • Calvin Harris
    • The Strokes subbed by Biffy Clyro OR co-head of Biffy and BMTH
    • Travis Scott
    • Major Lazer co-head with Khalid
    • Tame Impala

IMHO super weak, with only The Strokes having a wow factor, but I dont think that real announcement will be less flat than this, so I guess it is a good prediction

I thought Major Lazer didn't exist anymore. Shame.

The only name of that line-up I would pick is Andy C.

I'd add Rudimental, to some extents, DJ EZ and also Eli & Fur - saw them in Washington in 2017 and they were surprisingly good - never thought I'd hear about them ever again tho

Announcement date has been pushed back a little as negotiations continue. Is now set for 28 January.

Sad but no more news received about who will be there.

I ask about Tame Impala and definitely no. Stevie Nicks is one of the three in shortlist for last place but she is more expensive than expected and more expensive than the other two together. Sziget request for certain Mac songs to be included in the set was knocked back to half so money looking better spent elsewhere. Is shame as with right setlist it is felt everyone knows all she does.

I cant really understand why Sziget, with its audience, should go after Stevie Nicks: she is a great singer but it is literally the furthest thing from what this demographic asks.

I barely care about Fletwood Mac and I'm 25 with a solid background of 80s rock, left alone a zoomer who only cares for trap and Billie Eilish.

From people I speak to, I hear more disappointing performances in relation to Eminem live than i hear positive.

I think that Eminem, with the due differences, is like Bob Dylan is: you don't go to his show for the live performance, nor the atmosphere, it is just something that you owe to the "you of the past"

Well this sucks! Really hope they play Mad Cool as well but that seems doubtful. However I won't moan about RHCP or Arcade Fire with my Chemical Romance

My best case scenario would be a triplette MCR - RHCP - Tame Impala, as they did in '18 with QOTSA - Depeche Mode - NIN, but I can settle for only 2 out of 3 names

    Cool and reasonable.

    Few adjustments:

    - The Kooks, The Hives, Daughter, Kaiser Chiefs, Sam Fender, The Tallest Man on Earth and maybe Denzel Curry are all Main Stage material, despite being most of the in the A38 headliner spot;

    - As I Lay Dying at Sziget seems a little bit too hardcore (inb4: last year there were Of Mice and Men, I remember).

    - Hard to imagine Diplo playing without Major Lazer involved

Over all the most of it is credible and Sziget could take some note, because I hardly believe they would provide something more A38 than this one is

I receive good news and bad news for you all I think.

Confirmed is Travis Scott and Gavin Harris as two headliners with Liam, R.H.C.P and Selena. I question again about her inclusion but told he is being serious so I don't know.

My friend he says no Bon Iver and no Placebo "at the moment". He says that if other big headline name sign then announcement planned to be 23 January but they may hold two headliners back for later date.

There are three other possible name for last headline spot but he knows of none of these as they have not been shared.

I appreciate the intel. Probably Bon Iver is held back as a back-up headliner in case things do not work out as planned - as The National were last year.

Over all, headliner-only wise, this is the weakest set I've heard of since 2013 (2017 left apart), with only Frusciante holding a sensation appeal. Unless the big headliner (Eminem's meme incoming) and the major undercards are really huge this year is an easy overlook

Doesn't look like they gonna play more festivals this summer.

I guess at least one of the remaining headliners has not appeared on scene yet.

They are strongly rumored for Sziget: I don't think they released all the dates. Anyway that is wishful thinking.

Tame Impala + RHCP and My Chemical Romance somewhere in the lineup would seal the deal for me, but I will wait and see nonetheless

Robyn just announced as Way Out West headliner on Saturday 15 August. Wouldn't mind having her but she could only sub at Sziget I'd suggest? Only headliner level at WOW as she's Swedish?

If not A38 headliner, IMO - but more likely a sub...

  17. 11 hours ago, swelsbyuk said:

I'm no Billie Eilish fan either but you can't compare her with Halsey. Billie has become part of the zeitgeist, Halsey is just a pop singer (a good one, admittedly).

I couldn't say that in a better way

    11 hours ago, swelsbyuk said:

Out of interest, could a reformed MCR be a possibility?

For Sziget? Looks like a little bit out of the demo they want to appeal to, honestly

10 hours ago, So Sad Simon said:

I'm going to help you out. Three of the headliners are Chili Peppers, Liam Gallagher and Selena Gomez as pop name. No that last name isn't a joke and definitely a headliner or no appearance. She might be co-head but definitely head.

Delay in announcement due to negotiation with one other big act which will be great if it comes off but looking less likely every day. Big announcement coming at start of 20 January week if signing made.

Lots of the other people signed have been mentioned on here already and also Biffy Clyro and maybe Pixies. FKA Twigs is possible but issues about the A38 for reason I don't know.

I know you won't believe me cos you don't know me but TRUST me.

Well, I trust the way I trust any newcome insider on this forum: you have my trust until the announcement, so I'll take the rumor for reasonable (even more as all the names listed are thinkable). Two points tho:

    - As already pointed out, Pixies have a gig in Budapest already

    - Bon Iver?

  18. 1 hour ago, swelsbyuk said:

Looks possible. She's not playing Hungary during the European leg of the tour in Feb/March, but depends if she wants to return I guess.

I loved her first album but she's gone a bit pop for me - would still enjoy watching her though.

Is she big enough to headline or is she a strong sub?

I'd go for a decent sub. it is not like she could solo-headline or even co-headline a day, IMO

This is my prediction. I actually think they might struggle to get solid headliners this year. Major Lazer and The Chainsmokers are in Europe during Sziget but I don't think they both will turn up again (as they played in 2017).

No hate intended, but this lineup looks like a punishment. Especially the Bon Iver - The Chainsmokers part has some violent vibes from the past (Parkway Drive - The Lumineers from '16). So I consider it legit, although it seems to be too balanced for the weak-side for Sziget standards, so I guess that some tweeks here and there will make it.

We need at least one female headliner. The rumour was that Sziget wanted Taylor Swift but she was proving too expensive. Lorde would be fantastic but she doesn't appear to be active. However, one person who has proven herself to now be active and doing festivals (albeit in the U.S) this summer is Miley Cyrus. Not sure if she'd be able to fill 90 minutes but with a strong sub I could see her being in consideration.

Would lead to a shitstorm in the comments - but I actually think that she did fire at Glasto this year. Not sure about the headline slot.

Fact is that for female headliner you can pull any rabbit out of the hat and it will get mixed feelings on one hand, while on the other hand you have a wide plethora of names to call, so I reckon that is the wildest name to guess of the headliners-stereotype.

Good aspect of this year is that people are going to be surprised as we have no idea.

    LG

    Bon Iver

    Then?

I dunno, the lack of ideas and the lack of their media presence has throwed me down big time, I'm not even considering Sziget in my list of things to do this summer - unless they surprise me with first announcement (which I doubt).

Lineup wise, I guess that Bon Iver and Armin Van Bureen are the two safe names so far. One rock name is surely in the mix, the news call for The Killers / KoL / RHCP (but at the same time, it is hard to believe that they stick in Europe until August, being in tour in early July), and chances are that The Weeknd can be listed as well.

I refuse to believe that Liam Gallagher can be an headliner: he was not in that spot in '18, he is not now. The fact that Foals can be Heads in my perspective, is due to the fact that they actually did something to grow in stack in the last 5 years - where both the Gallaghers and Kasabian failed to accomplish.

I think that we have difficulties in getting a 7 names straight because:

    a) Sziget will go for the some exclusive / some name that put an embargo until now;

    b) Sziget proved in the last years that they don't have all the headliners at the start of the announcements (which I find honestly ridicolous for a festival of that size)
