What are they destroying if its sold out without an single act announced? They sell 135,000 tickets in an hour and could put Boris and Rishi on the Pyramid having a laugh if they want. They essentially do the opposite of what they could do with such a blessing. They play it very very safe cause they think they have to appease the lawn chair audience and theyre the only ones who buy tickets or something. They could challenge the audience but its once in a blue moon when it even happens. I mean its pretty much when any black artist is headlining that theres any uproar with the general public abut the festival losing its touch or something. I mean we have seen what happens when Emily goes after the tough gets and sometimes it burns you. Theyre lucky they even get Coldplay to perform for next to nothing or else they would have some other issues this year.
like ive said in the past we will see what happens when all 3 headliners are under the age of 30 or even all female. everyones mum will say its trash and they want to return their ticket. Fine, let em. Or do the boldest thing and dont put one ticket on sale until after you announce the lineup and see what happens with sales and reaction. If they want to see how the audience is currently then thats what you do. Its still gonna take another generation for the core attendees to be ok with certain bookings.
Absolutely 200% spot on there @Suprefan

Far from an ideal solution, but fair play to Egypt, at least someone in the area has some humanity.

Netanyahu still ignoring anything its allies, specifically USA says...no ceasefire, no Palestinian state, no end to war until Hamas defeated. All this for his own political survival. The bloke needs taking out, literally. There needs to be an intervention, if US/UN/others don't do it then surrounding countries will and then there really will be a wider war.
This is really no surprise and was clear as day right from the start.
And yes there really should be an intervention by "the west", but there won't be. Not sure surrounding countries will get involved as they know USA and the UK will attack them.

That drone carry on looks decent but I'd be disappointed to see the end of the fireworks and setting stuff on fire tbh
So would I, but mainly because two of my friends get in by building the main structure burnt on the Wednesday

The stand out improvement over "the good old days" IMO is the post midnight entertainment

It's not really that different to how it was in 2010. In fact it's really only superficial changes
And they booked U2 that year.
Agree

Nope. Not to sustain it on its current scale.

Again agree with @Superscally
It's way too big, an "out of control monster"

Not a chance.
Again agree
There are more than enough regulars who have little to no interest in the Pyramid headliners or even the Pyramid

Apologies
I didn't intend this topic to descend into discussion of the suitability of beige nonsense acts such as:
Foals, Biif Clyro and Wolf Alice
I shall try and behave in future

About 2008.
The festival aren't about to start saying no thank you Macca, Elton, Stevie, Adele, Beyonce etc. we're gonna test how much weaker we can make the headliners and still sell out.
2008 the Jay Z year.
Nothing to do with "weak headliners", more to do with people listening to an idiot who doesn't know his Glastonbury history.

It’s time for the argument they should try and book smaller headliners again already?
It’s essential for Glasto to attract the biggest names for the pyramid to keep the demand for tickets and the bbc viewer numbers high.
So where is the level at which the festival will no longer sell out.
I feel it's a lot "lower" (for want of a better word) than some like to believe

Good. Hopefully means we can get tickets easier. I'd LOVE Glasto to move away from mega headliners.
With you on this
Get more interesting acts on the Pyramid and Other Stage and other associated benefits

Totally with you, this is an interesting lineup, thankfully no “old duffers” clogging up the Pyramid headline spots and we have Justice , Janellle, Orbital, Sleaford Mods and a few other cracking acts.
Best is yet to come, post midnight dance.
