  1. Good news here in Canada. One of our experts has said the chance of catching the virus outdoors is extremely small, so most of the parks and trails have reopened with social distancing measures still in effect. It does mean we will likely be able to do camping and swimming on the beach in the summer which is great news.

For a less professional but hugely hilarious lighthearted baking show try Nailed it. Nicole Byers the host is funny and it's reality show that isn't cruel as they all know they are shit going in. The Donald Trump cake from the 1st or 2nd series and the sloth cake from this series is comedy gold!!

I absolutely love Nailed it! Makes me LOL... its actually where I started getting into baking tv as I typically hate reality shows!

  3. The midnight gospel.... has anyone watched yet?

Its netflix' new animated series... a bit like an animated podcast style. I enjoyed the discussions and the animation.... main character is on a journey of self realization and the last episode emotionally impacted me in a way that I usually avoid.

I love the Bake Off, it's just reassuringly nice TV to watch.  I'm assuming the Canadian version is the same in that it's never gone down the road of being this ultra-competitive high intensity cut throat show; everyone's just getting on with their baking and drinking tea while they wait for their dough to rise.

Lovely snippet from the original UK version with Mel & Sue.  If a contestant was having a meltdown when their bake had completely failed or something, in order to make sure they couldn't use footage of them losing it in the final broadcast they would stand right with said contestant and use the foulest language possible so it couldn't be used in the show :)

There is moments of slight stress but it is all light hearted and encouraging, many moments of contestants helping each other!

  5. Just finished the Homeland finale.

I've been watching Black Monday regularly... an absurd comedy, based around the stock market crash, lots of snow flying around.

Excited for Rick and Morty to start back up.

Just binged the Great Canadian bake off and man I'm hungry. Very lighthearted television, I'll have to try the British (original) version.

Sorry to break it to you but just because you don't live with a vulnerable, doesn't mean you can't spread it to one. For this to make any sense you would have to take part in an enforced 2 week quarantine prior and after the event and be tested on the way into the event in order to ensure you are not carrying the virus.

You could pick up the virus at the event, become an asymptomatic carrier and then go and have a coffee with your best friend a week later. You could pass them the virus who could then pass it to their mum. Their mum ends up in the ICU and then dies from the virus. Your best friends mum has just died due to your own irresponsible actions.

It's not as simple as it seems and there's a reason mass events will be banned for the foreseeable future. If even one person turns up to the event infected, they could spread it to tens or hundreds of others, who could then pass it back into the community and then the vulnerable residents will once again be at risk.

Every action has a consequence and in this case, going to a mass event would cost someone elses life.

Sorry to break it to you, but my best friend also has no family in the area. I am fully aware of how contagion works. By your assessment I am just as likely to be responsible for someone else's life by getting groceries. If they're holding mass gatherings we are clearly going to be beyond the point where a 2 week quarentine is necessary.

I'm not the one in control of whether mass events are happening or not, and I am 100% following quarentine rules.

This is also a HYPOTHETICAL thread about your own personal risk if a mass gathering was ALLOWED. No one is talking about going to secret illegal very fun sounding underground raves.

But I am not going to wait inside for a vaccine if life has resumed.

  7. A lockdown cant go on for ever.

When we get sick, most illnesses we've dealt with have an average incubation of 2 days. That means you come into contact with someone, the next say they say "oh I've got the flu not" and the next day you have it. The rate of contagion is low.

Once you're infected, naturally, most people self-isolate 1. Because they feel like shit 2. Because they dont want to get other people sick.

The difference with Corona, is its massively contagious before anyone shows any symptoms, which can be up to a 2 week period. At the 2 week point all new cases should be theoretically self-identifyable.

So if you put your country into a hard lockdown technically after 2 weeks all cases should be identifiable and all other potential new cases should be traceable. It's like hitting a reset button on it "running wild" as someone else mentioned.

Again, theoretically if you shut your borders and stopped all movement for about 6 weeks the virus would be eliminated.

The problem comes after, as you cant keep borders shut indefinitely. The other issue is there seem to be quite a few outlying cases which arent behaving as predicted. People talking about reinfection, etc.

They have developed a test for antibodies so we should know that soon enough.

I would predict most countries wont leave major restrictions in place for any longer than a couple of months. Life needs to resume, for the sake of the economy.

That is factually correct :) But it's still minging and I refuse to look at the dog. His ears are down. He knows he's in my bad books. Still...the sad brown eyes will work on me eventually. I've thrown him a denta-stick. Don't even want to think about his catpoo-breath on me!

    Teach him to gargle?

Don't bring this thread down with talk of bloody cats. Mine did a whoopsy in the kitchen. Was about to clean it up when the dog runs over and eats it. Both now exiled to the garden.
I'm fighting germ warfare on multiple fronts.

But on the bright side you didnt have to clean it up!

Yeah - I love them to.  I have to say I find the constant flak they get on here to be very tedious and one of the less attractive characteristics of this forum.  Everyone will never like the same music, but there are certain acts that get a really hard time because it seems cool to hate on them, and yet the reality is there are a lot of people on here that like them but feel they need to apologise for it 🤷‍♂️

As per @JezzaBelle I'm going to stick A Head Full of Dreams on now, as I know it will give me a lift from the gloom ... :music:

If somehow someway there is a 2020 festival I will never slag off Coldplay again!!

Unless the announcement is it being rearranged rather than cancelled as we're all expecting.

They could be making sure all their ducks are in a row with insurance

    Or

They could be trying to see if a new date is feasible.

Im not saying it is feasible, but I think they're trying and that's why we havent heard yet.

That Mitski song is stuck in my head....nobody, nobody, nobody,,,nobody knows nobody
