Really hope there aren't major changes inside once it reopens, its my favourite venue in London. If the floor gets flatten i'd be gutted

Good point that last paragraph. Few venues in London have a similar capacity so it really does leave a gap that will be hard to fill.

I'd be so upset if Brixton closed / changed - it doesn't at the moment seem like the slanted floor was the cause and maybe when investigations end it will show that the venue ((which hosts events of massive demand (think harry styles in may) and what feels like every night of the year)) is not at major fault thus helping the review/reopening... maybe it is but it doesn't seem like o2 academy's negligence rn

  3. This was much harder and may change by the 31st but I feel pretty confident about 4/5 being secure here so will contribute

    1. RENAISSANCE - Beyoncé (honestly do not see an album this decade beating it, monumental and historic imo)

    2. Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You - Big Thief (maybe their magnum opus, the thesis of the band's project across this sprawling beaut)

    3. MOTOMAMI - Rosalia (she's SO good and her gig at the o2 was insane, the farm needs her next year)

    4. Skinty Fia - Fontaines D.C. (s/o to the NPR versions of Big Shot, Couple Across the Way, and the more traditional Irish elements on the opener.... mind blowing!)

    5. CRASH - Charli XCX (one of my most listened to of the year, but aside from that, has not a dud song, new pop highs!!)

    GIGS:  Lorde @ Roundhouse // Arcade Fire @ KOKO  // Jessie Ware @ Primavera // Wolf Alice @ O2 Academy Bristol // Lady Gaga @ Spurs // Rosalia @ O2 Arena // Foals @ Olympia

Honourable Mentions (and like seriously could make a claim that any of these are top 5, what a year!!)

Ethel Cain / Preacher's Daughter --- the 1975 / BFIAFL --- Tove Lo / Dirt Femme --- F+TM / Dance Fever --- TS / Midnights --- Foals / Life is Yours --- Jockstrap / ILYJB --- BCNR / AFUT --- CMAT / IMWKIBD --- Kendrick / Mr Morale --- Maggie Rogers / Surrender --- MUNA / Self-Titled --- and so many more like.... Dry Cleaning, Julia Jacklin, Weyes Blood, Rina Sawayama, Sudan Archies, FKA Twigs, Yard Act, AM...........

🙂 love this thread and year-end stuff, genuinely love seeing people's recs and rankings and then finding more to listen to in an already stacked year. thanks all and @Hugh Jass II for organising...

So - Paolo/Pulp/Ezra? Or one of them a special guest? Guess we'll find out in a few hours

I'm sure The 1975 were a lock in for this and IOW and TRNSMT.... Healy even said at their banquet show they playing a few UK festivals (can't be RnL, Glasto...) so would've expected em here. BUT why announce when Pulp announce if it isn't them on the bill? Hoping for a special guest situation! And still a bit let down no Flo or Haim or girls in general!!!

Sometimes if an artist isn't confident/isn't great live/they know it won't translate on TV it's not worth it I guess.

She’s also had a difficult tour singing some of the more personal songs so maybe that is a factor - she did backing for Lorde’s latest record so I wonder if we will see her later on the Pyramid?

latitude was a tear jerker and a full body experience in the dark. elite.

have to say i think the slot is awkward and not reflective of size of their pull! a good crowd singalong too which is amaze to hear!
