Don’t know if it’s just because the crowd is pretty sparse so it’s more noticeable, but there seems to be a pretty big security presence at Mordor right now. Seen several groups of 4/5 guys marching around - wonder if there have been any instances that have prompted it.

agreed, and! they just took my bottle lid - clearly i was a risk lol

I'm in the boat that W2 is considerably more exciting (or at least, more to my tastes) than W1, and this little proxy rundown absolutely supports that I think. Those Thurs and Fri lineups are bananas (and that's ignoring The Strokes, Interpol, Dry Cleaning, Slowdive, TYLER AND GORILLAZ ALL IN ONE DAY!!!!)

Literally!!! everyone not mentioned makes the best lineup ever? how is that possible!

  3. trying to work out my top w2 picks (v hard for the Thursday), something like this currently:

Thurs: Dua Lipa / 2ManyDJs / Bicep / Big Thief / Charli XCX

Fri: Lorde / Brittany Howard / Bleachers / Clairo

Sat: Tame Impala / Fred Again... / Jessie Ware

Clash-Gods, be kind to me x

It’ll be exactly the same minus a few of the lesser known ones imo - Birch Tree, Providence, Late Night, Black Gold all have a high likelihood of getting the chop I reckon. Other than that I think it’ll be identical; a festival isn’t the place to fuck around and not play the hits.

their last 30 min run of: late night > Spanish Sahara > providence > inhaler // encore // black bull > wwd > two steps

was so killer no filler I cant see them switching that up... (And actually the Wake me up > the runner > mountain at my gates was an immediate crowd on side opening)

as for the tour... birch tree was played in place of new 'life is yours' at the sat Olympia show but at brixton life is yours was played, no birch tree, and no looking high - just did one less song. think it's been pretty random what combo of those 3 tracks appear...

feel like 2001 will be kept for Glasto, and then the 3 singles with looking high poss swapped?? WHO KNOWs!

The reviews are coming in for WE. Fairly glowing review from an obvious fan of the band in stereogum: https://www.stereogum.com/2183970/arcade-fire-we/reviews/premature-evaluation/?fbclid=IwAR1uirdcpvGyX_wo7_cu5gFoPQWGUXjyEz7ChgvEAxxkbf9VXnq5n01Ixog

"Still, ever since Funeral lit my soul on fire in 2004, I’ve been waiting on another Arcade Fire album that elicited such unreserved passion, that wasn’t at least a little bit disappointing. After nearly two decades waiting on the lightning, that album is finally here."

    Hype is increasing......

  6. Yeah totally agree - though I think the setlist does have some surprises like others have said (late night, prov, birch tree, new tracks) - what I'll say though is that they seem to be stuck touring at interesting times...

I know this got pushed back from 2020 and was supposed to be the enswbl 1/2 tour, of sorts, and now they are on the road pre new album which means you can't base it around one album, or even the new album, as its either too late or too early - as artists tend to do - means you end up with these monster lists of just let's try play a bit of everything from.... (Which I'm not complaining about, just find interesting, if I'm even making sense)

If they toured this new record in the autumn you wouldn't grudge a setlist mainly of new record with songs from their back catalogue that fit the vibe (a la 'In Degrees), then you have a couple other bangers and it feels more cohesive?

What’s his version of What Makes You Beautiful like? Does it pop off or does he do some bullshit slowed down ballad version? His chances of headlining Glastonbury hinge on this one artistic choice (imo).

Watched this morn at coachella, went full monty with additional brass section and looked totally fun, tbh makes you forget it’s been out so long… iirc he used to play later in set but here was like 2/3 in which is good as he’s not relying on 1d material to make his show

  8. [Edit: too many tabs open, so posted in in 2022 music thread, meant for here ]

Since seeing Chemical Bros at Latitude last year (as well as Disclosure at Reading), and always being a fan of Jamie XX's In Colour (that is one you absolutely need in your life if we are sharing dance faves; idontknow (2020) was one of my fave tracks of the year - belter)... Big fan of Fred Again... atm...

But again, long time lurker, totally don't know much about this scene but if we are recommending things -- my go to would be one of my fave radio shows ever just as it reminded me of how much I do enjoy dance/electronica (even tho I have no clue what the consensus is on the forum about this lol so don't shoot me!!)

Maybe I'll stick around on this side of the site as have been enjoying raving whilst writing my diss haha

  9. foals (one of all time faves) is a good booking, even if they are everywhere, their new record seems to be a lovely summer vibe fitting for lats...

phoebe, caroline, rina, maggie, self esteem, simz --- truly outstanding bookings!! will be highlights of the weekend. and Fontaines should be headlining over snow patrol ! but glad they return and without clashing with foals...

As always with latitude - the best stuff is discovered during the fest and in later lineups.... tho I am BAFFLED as to why it took so long for those 3 headliners (where is florence's uk fest date??), must be some dropouts...

Next drop I'd love an afternoon legacy act like a chic.... rick astley... craig david vibe - and a cheeky late night closer a la underworld

Would Sigur Ros still be considered a headliner here? Could be a wildcard

Instinct says not likely - as of just how mainstream the last sets of headliners have been and how its morphed from what type of acts we'd get in the mid 2010s...

But then again... latitude love a rogue booking 😕
