blisters.
but a more sensible answer - the first time I went i was just amazed by the scale of everything, and each year I go I still get the same feeling. The fact you can be at the festival with friends, but could be three to four miles away from them still blows me away. The Glastonbury site is bigger than the village I live in

I may have to investigate 'lightweight' boots then. I generally wear my cheapo Dunlop steel toecap boots with nice insoles and chunky socks, comfy but heavy

also a short vid that I don't remember taking:
told youtube to stabilise it, so it might look odd

I don't recall 2007 being that bad, 2016 however is the first time i've ever had to be towed in (and out) from the camper van field, so that would get my vote.
however, 2005 was INTENSE. went to bed thurs evening after a lovely day drinking in the sun by the 'playstation bar' by the other stage, got woken up at about 4am by biblical rain that just didn't stop. Got dressed up in my all weather gear and went onto site (was in E camping) and man was it wet. I have to leave via gate B on the way back as gate C had been closed due to the water being about 4 -5 feet deep.

n: take loads of pictures of bands playing on stage, only to discover when you get home that you have no idea who any of them are as you were stood too far away

I'll be in the campervan field with a big 100Watt solar panel charging a 110AH battery, so I just take a few of these with me:
and charge them up each night off the battery

EE have a mast on site during the festival, but the main issue is that there are 100k people trying to post pic on facebook at the same time, so the network is massivly over subscribed. voice will work, but data is always poor.
The network you're on doesn't really matter (up to a point) as all the traffic is going though the nearest masts, along with everyone else at the festival.

cool I've lived around farmland for 40-ish years, I know how to be polite I might pop over at the weekend if the weather is good.

you could probably get a bus to the 'East' camper/caravan entrance from the main road A37, then it'd be a mile or so walk through Pylle to get to 'Gate C'.
I've been a few times 'out of season' but always feel like I'm trespassing, are the farmers OK with people wandering around ? I'd love to get some pics of the railway line area.
edit: missed all the posts above me will email.

Ah, I see

Lady Gaga has played before though, (on the other stage unless I imagined it) hasn't she ? Some of this thread reads like it would be a glastonbury coup for her to play, unless I'm mis-reading ?

that'll shed it wheels before you leave the car park.
Wheelbarrow with a proper metal rim is the best bet.

I was really hoping for something better stage wise from Underworld, given that they were at one point pioneers of all dance music visual design cross over stuff.
We rolled through WH during Earth, Wind and Fire and were also unimpressed. :/For the first time in many years, I got to the front of the stage for Underworld (last time was last time they played I think) and I thoroughly enjoyed it, however, it was almost a carbon copy of their set that they did in Jan at the 6Music weekend in Bristol. But I think they are brilliant, so I didn't mind
I wasn't quite in the middle, but still managed to get a few good pics:
unrelated: are you the RR HoTWire ?

I suspect the web guys have just updated the footer - it'll be a separate file thats loaded on all pages (to save duplicating it over the whole website) so may not be limited to just the lineup page I'm afraid but fingers crossed

I normally leave at 7AM on the wednesday, so that I can beat the rush hour in Shepton, and get in the East caravan queue by 8:30ish and parked up by 9:30ish
Last year, left at 7AM, parked up at 6:30PM. I live 26 miles from the site

Word on the street was that a lot of congestion was caused by lack of 'metal road' in the entrance fields as it was still stuck in the mud at Download (I think) I know the entrance to the caravan fields was one lane only to the 'customs check' bit where it is usually five or six wide, so they could only check one caravan at a time rather than five.

The Roger Waters set in 2002 still stands as possibly the best live performance I've ever seen, and at the time I only had a vague interest in Pink Floyd/the solo stuff. I think it was the first year with the extra speakers, and they were put up just before he went on. I still vividly recall the sound of jets flying overhead that was so realistic there was a reverse mexican wave where the entire crowd ducked from right to left, because the surround sound was so good. Amazing stuff!

Filling up the car parks - how does it work?

it'll be down to the Police directing you, they will filter the traffic according to whatever info they go on. once you're nearer the car park entrances, the stewards take over. Ignore Police directions at your peril
