  1. I'll miss the bags :/ I use them for separating things in my rucksack - camera goes in one, cans in another etc, stops things knocking together so much.

I'll have to reuse some of the many from previous years I have stashed I suppose.

Haha, that's exactly what my first thoughts were on seeing this line up.... I can foresee a lot of afternoon naps up at the park or acoustic tent to get through this!

ha, not just me then :D

  3. if you have room, just put it up in the garden/patio/driveway - a few hours of reasonably sunny weather will de-must it.

I'll be unfolding my folding caravan this week, to see how many mice made it a home over winter.

Reading through this thread makes me a feel a bit sad .It looks like that some of the stuff that is being missed is what made the heart of the festival for some of you and its all gone .I know you will still have a good one but things like sitting round a fire ,relaxing at the stone circle ,market stall soundsystems, old venues etc and a general hippy feel to stuff being absent is not a good thing .Does it not question if you might call it a day ? Just curious .

not at all, I miss the cinema field, but there are loads of new places and things that have appeared since,  that more than make up for it.

Very much so for the latter, had some cracking tunes back in the youth.

    Diplo and Yoda are decent.

I could see Dropkicks getting a slot in here somewhere

as in the Murphys ? one of my favourite bands - they were meant to open the main stage in 97 or 98 (I forgte) but didn't and I never found out why :/

  6. I miss the old cinema field. was great to wander up after the stages closed and watch films till the sun came up.

The always amusing "i'm spartacus" banter when some worse for wear festivaler was trying to find 'Dave' never got old.

I remember watching 'XXX' of all things and during the part where Vin Diesel is trapped in an avalanche, the moment he poked his hand out, someone shouted "HE'S ALIVE!"  and we all went wild.

The showing of Goonies was also brilliant - went with a mate who had never even heard of it, let alone seen it, and he left a better person afterwards I think, what with all the 'hey you guys'

Somehow the current cinema tent just isnt the same.

    good times.

Top tips for finding yourself in a crew bar: pull your sleeves over your wristband and get in the question about "so where do you work" in first. Crew love talking about where they're working and what they're doing, it seems.

They probably won't care if you're not crew, but it helps to not feel like an intrusive fuck.

I was looking for a less busy loo in near shangrla last year and managed to wander into the crew bar there, and spent some good time and not a small amount on money on very nice beers and enjoyed the chilled out atmosphere. not sure i'd have the balls to out and out blag my way in, not without some sort of crew wristband anyway.

what happens if you use a fancy plug like that to charge your phone? will it burn it out?

Do you need a special cable too? or is the one that comes with your phone ok?

they are fine for charging anything that uses a usb lead - they are autosensing, so only send the voltage that the device (or cable) can cope with.

It's worth buying some decent cables too - Anker do a pcak on amazon for five or so for about six quid - they will allow the best charging current - the cable that came with your phone may not allow more than the default 500ma

I have one with four ports plugged in 24/7 and usually have a few tablets / battery packs connected and charging.

  9. bear in mind you need a good charger to charge up the battery pack itself - using the one you got with your phone, or a usb port on your computer will take days and days to get a 10000ma or bigger unit charged up.

get one of these (or similar) https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/l02/Anker-2-Port-Charger-PowerIQ-Technology-Samsung-Motorola/B016LPMFUA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493373223&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+fast+charger

and the battery packs will charge up a lot quicker.

  10. I have an old photo on my ticket, I like the photo, so I keep using it :) but I get asked to take my hat off, smile like I am in the photo most times when I go through the gate (I'm in east caravan usually) so if you're just going through once, -maybe- you'll get someone whos near the end of their shift, maybe not though.

  11. I've been on my own a few times, and like you, i find it tricky to speak to new people 'in real life' but you'll be fine.

there is always someone who wants to chat, people in queues, people next to you at stages, etc etc

plus, sometimes it's nice to just do whatever you want, not need to rush somewhere to meet someone, or compromise on which acts to see.

  12. it sounds like the lights etc may be wired to the main battery, which is being cut off not that the relay is connected properly.

a split charging circuit dosn't need to be mega complicated, something as straightforward as this pic will work:

    link: HD-relay-split-charge-system.jpg

you just need to wire everything 'auxillary' to the leisure battery - the devices should work all the time, but the leisure battery will be isolated from the starter battery while the engine is not running, so won't flatten the starter batt.

try your meter directly on the terminals of the leisure batt - with engine on, it should be about 14ish volts like you saw earlier, and with engine off, about 12.5ish which should be a steady reading if no electrical equipment is running.

do you have a pic of the 'cut off switch' and it's wiring ?
