  1. Fair points.

All I'm saying is that if a band asks for more money (and sadly, it does tend to be all about money) than the organisers think they are worth, then the organisers shouldn't feel held to ransom. If they were casual with their limited funds, there'd be no way they would be able to book the brilliant lineup that awaits us.

I've got nothing against Lush, actually I quite like them, and hope they pop up as a big name at the Secret Stage.

Come to think about it, there's also likely to be a band that plays at 5pmish on Thursday as well as their normal slot.  I'd guess Savages. Any other ideas?

  2. Just click on the down arrow. I'll try and do it myself on my own comment to show you how it's done.

The Auditori is something of an architectural marvel and is a masssive amphitheatre for indoor gigs near the main entrance of he site.

Gigs are usually c.4.pm-10pm in there.

Can't take food or drink in but they have posh toilets.

  3. Erm, Albert EA got every single name right for Saturday with his predictions (admittely that article had been published already by that point) so his guesses for Thursday and Friday deserve another look

*Thursday: Suede, Alessandro Cortini and Kamasi Washington.
*Friday: Holly Herndon, Lubomyr Melnyk, Richard Dawson and Cavern Of Anti-Matter. I'm hoping for Tortoise though.

    Seems about right.

  4. Auditori - queue if popular/later, otherwise no need. Suede should be less popular than normal having played the night before and against some stiff competition.

Secret Stage - read the announcement on the official site. Probably have to get to the site extremely early, queue and be lucky as such a small venue.

  5. They've been on sale for over 6 months so it's unfortunate you've missed out.

You will be unlikely to pick one up now unless you pay a small fortune or are very lucky.

The market will likely have a small flood of tickets in the week of people whose plans have changed at the last minute and who arejust happy to get their money back. I'd say then is the time to buy.

This strategy is ony for the brave!

  6. Porto is a fantastic city. Can be fine weather and you'd hope for sun in June. It is warmer than the UK but definitely colder than Barcelona. Have a decent coat for the evening.

It is an atlantic climate though and expect rain, possibly lashings of it. Porto region is very green for a reason...

  7. My fear is that I will be forced to miss the Suede auditori as there will be so much good stuff elsewhere at 9pm or so.

Woud be good if they always had their strongest auditori act on first but I appreciate why they don't do that and I dont see them changing their policy...

  8. Waiting time at Field Day/Hyde Park for a beer last year - 10 -15 minutes

Waiting time at Primavera for a beer last year - 10-15 seconds

Does pay admittedly to choose your bar wisely as some do entail a short wait at peak times but for many you can just swan up.

They aren't even the best band from Oxford :) Nos Alive hasn't sold out and is a much cheaper festival/city to visit, so I'm not convinced everyone is going for Radiohead. I think the site grew since I first went in 2011 with the addition of the 2 big stages, I reckon it's reached its limit as there's water on 2 sides and the beach next to the backstage area.

    OK, I'll bite

Who on earth is a better band from Oxford than the insanely talented Radiohead?

Please don't say Foals, please don't say Foals...

  10. Well there's six Hidden Stage bands to come, probably subsidized by Heineken, and they're usually decent.

Think it's very hard to book a big name at this late stage so I'd expect two more mid-tier up-and-coming names, set against 1-2 cancellations (someone tell Brian Wilson we'd be heartbroken if he pulls out).
