On the other hand, believe it or not we are now only 3 international acts away from matching last years total (31), which is terrifying. However, I still see 4 mainstage slots and 4 tent slots open.

Yep, you're right, but it looks like we will get more international acts than last year.

On Wendsday and Thursday we've got only 1 act on Tent Stage per day (Fleet Foxes and David Byrne).

There's only Bruno Mars on Main Stage on Sat.

    Still plenty to come.

Why? I thought everyone loved rappers saying 'put your motherfucking hands up' over and over while badly rapping over MP3's of their album played by some someone who yells 'hey' or 'yeah' sporadically... ?

I sense lots of irony in your post, but unfortunately it's true :D

lol. Yeah super shit. But the fact they seem to be filling the stages with more international acts this time round isn't a bad thing, 9 Alter Stage acts so far compared to 6 last year (?)

That's the only postive thing. We have 4 international acts on tent stage on Friday, I hope it will be the same on the other days.

I hope Young Thug is the last representative of shit rap acts ;)

  4. If I checked it correctly, alma and sigrid don't have any albums released. I hope they will play at 4:00 P.M., just after the gates are being opened. I understand that they have to announce smaller acts, but cmon, we are wating 3 weeks, it's April, and we're getting only 4 names, one Polish and two with no albums. That's ridiculous.

Yep its time for an announcement! The National at Roskilde has made me hoping for them at Opener. They are free to play on the 4th or the 6th.

I can't see The National on Roskilde line-up. Probably you meant Interpol as they are free on 4th and 6th? :) Anyway, it would be great to have both of them.

Yes, but tomorrow Open'er have the right to say "Fresh from playing two sold out shows in Poland, we can announce Editors will be returning in July!" blah blah blah. I think they might be too big to be announced this late anyway, European people love Editors for some reason :D

I am also hungry for new names, the lineup does very little for me so far (but everything is booked and the Ale tent is good so...)

It's definitely not too late, especially for Open'er. They announced the likes of Prince, Jack White or Faith no More even later :D

3 weeks today since the last announcement. If nothing is announced today, I predict we get an announcement tomorrow which includes Editors. But what do I know.

The thing with Editors is that their two shows have been sold out for some time now (I checked it only after my last post about them), so there were no obstacles to announce them earlier. Having said that, I really hope we will get something this week.

There's still a few acts that feature on that Gorillaz album whichhaven't been announced for Open'er yet :P

But yeah, you're right, so much good stuff, it's annoying how little of it is at Open'er. I like Superorganism but they are playing 8 songs on their headline tour, is that worth a festival slot? Don't get me started on Migos...

I can see Superorganism playing Alter Stage at, let's say, 4:00 p.m, that would save some space for better acts.

Yeah, announcing Migos was one of the worst things that could've happened.

There are so many decent acts around Europe that week. Surely someone's got to turn up!

That's exactly what I'm thinking! Hopefully, they won't spoil it by bringing some one-album acts, jusst like gregory said.

Anderson .Paak busy on Fri/Saturday now, so he can be written off pretty much :(

Open'er is so shit compared to RW and Roskilde this year IMO (so far). About half of the acts only have only released 1 album, where's all the established acts at?

I can see a place for Anderson .Paak on Wednesday (Tent Stage).

Yeah, that's true, but we're still missing around 10 names. Wednesday and Thursday are pretty good. Saturday is terrible, just like every year.

  11. It's the same almost every year. There were even editions when they announced headliners in April or May (Prince in 2011, Jack White and Faith No More in 2014).

Roskilde is announcing its full line-up tomorrow. Hopefully, we will get some names this week too.

    Thinking/dreaming for Friday/Saturday;

    Justice * Anderson .Paak
    Gorillaz Bruno Mars
    Editors Dawid Podsiadło
    Kaleo Franz Ferdinand

Plausible, but prepared for random shit-hip-hop.

*La Femme (on Friday) is meant to be part of a French theme...

Editors are playing two shows this week in Poland, that's why I doubt they will play Open'er. But if they do, these two shows may be the reason why we're waiting for the next announcement so long.

Justice and Anderson .Paak would be nice additions, I also hope for Leon Bridges, he has a perfect gap in his schedule:
JUL 4, 2018 Huxleys Neue Welt Berlin, Germany
JUL 11, 2018 Festival Jardins Pedralbes Barcelona, Spain

Was just looking to try and see which Polish acts might be added this year and came across this list of Famous Bands from Poland,   https://www.ranker.com/list/bands-from-poland/referencehttps://www.ranker.com/list/bands-from-poland/reference

Personally, from that list I'm hoping for Frédéric Chopin, Pope John Paul II and Roman Polanski.

Oh my... this list is so ridiculous. BTW, if you're intrested, possible Polish acts for this year are e.g. Mikromusic, Fisz Emade Tworzywo, Terrific Sunday, Bass astral x Igo, Taconafide, Miuosh, Daria Zawiałow, Kortez.

Will we get any new names today? It's been 2 weeks since the last announcement and it's almost April...

Some random band's that still have a schedule gap during the Opener weekend: Interpol, Goldfrapp, Liam Gallagher, Alice in Chains and Robert Plant (perhaps unlikely)

All of the above would be great additions, but I really doubt about Robert Plant and Alice in Chains. The rest is possible, but I'm afraid that there is enough space only for 1-2 names as big as Interpol or Liam Gallagher. It'd be amazing to get ANY names...

I actually think Openers Thursday is way better than Werchters Friday given that we have Massive Attack and DM instead of the Killers et al..;)

Would love some more names though. I'm still holding out hope for Interpol. I'n general, more rock wouldn't hurt Openers Saturday imo

With this Thursday-Friday thing I was thinking about announcements, not days in line-up :D I agree, some more rock would be great.

  16. Seems like Thursday for Open'er is like Friday for Rock Werchter. So, can we expect some names today?
My wishlist of acts who are touring around Open'er: Soulwax, Leon Bridges, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Rival Sons, Durand Jones And The Indications, and maybe some 'older' stuff like Nile Rodgers or Iggy Pop?

I always thought it was a bit strange she wasn't on Gorillaz day. That would make 4/7 acts from Gorillaz-land that day (so far).

Also Years & Years and SEVDALIZA were initially listed as playing Saturday but the day has since been removed.

Yeah, that's true. It seems they've got quite a mess out there. I think RW announced its line up one week ago and Open'er hasn't yet revised that.

    Massiive Attack

    ?
Arctic Monkeys Depeche Mode Gorillaz Bruno Mars

    Tent Stage
    ? ? Vince Staples Odesza
Fleet Foxes David Byrne La Femme Glass Animals
    ? Kali Uchis ? Years & Years
    ? ? ? ?

    Alter Stage
Dead Cross Young Fathers Little Simz ?
    Superorganism Yonaka Marmozets SEVDALIZA?
    ? ? ? Bomba Estereo
    ? ? ? ?
    ? ? ? ?

I've just noticed that Kali Uchis is playing Rock Werchter on Thursday (5th July), so I guess there's a mistake on Open'er website and she will be moved to Friday, like other Gorillaz-related artists :) It means that tent stage is full on both Friday and Saturday.

Dang yeah, that year went 6-a-day main on Thurs/Fri !

Thursday: Marmozets -> Tom Odell  -> Enter Shikari  -> The Libertines  -> Major Lazer  -> Faithless
Friday: Rebel Babel Ensemble -> The Vaccines -> Of Monsters And Men -> Mumford & Sons -> D'Angelo & The Vanguard -> The Prodigy

Not a big fan of any of those, but like the quantity lol

Faithless and D'Angelo were amazing, one of the best shows in my 8-year history of Open'er. But the headliners were rather weak that year (when you compare it to this year or 2017).

  20. 1 minute ago, gregory said:

I'm hoping the fact the headliners will play 90 mins (and not 2+ hours like RH and FF) will mean we get 5 acts per day on Wed and Thur this year, and they'll be 2 extra great international bands ...I can dream. But yeah either way, main is getting full - 12 acts last year and we're on 9 already. Still room for some of that good shit at Wertcher and Roskilde I hope...

Agree with Alter, last year we only had 5 internationals total (?) so we're already over that

I'm dreaming about 02:00 slots, like in 2015 (e.g. Faithless).

  21. Good job! On Wednesday and Thursday main stage is full (only some Polish acts probably). Looks like Alter stage also lacks only some Polish names.

Also, it's nice that we have 3 international acts on Tent Stage on Saturday. If they will follow this, it means we lack 3-4 names on Main Stage and 4 names on Tent Stage.

  22. Yeah, alter stage looks quite nice so far. We need 1-2 acts on main stage on Friday and 2-3 on Saturday. Hopefully, they will speed up with announcements.

Maybe we will get something more (probably one bigger act) at 12:00?

  23. 9 minutes ago, ParanoidTourist said:

Yes I agree! I'm very torn with choosing between Werchter and Opener at the moment. But then again; I really want to see Massive Attack and Depeche Mode who won't be at Werchter. Here's hoping for an afternoon announcement!

They've already posted something today. And for Open'er, one post per day is enough ;)
