I was thinking the opposite
Unless they're doing Roskilde. Is there another big European festival in the same weekend that I'm not thinking of?
Not really, but I doubt they will play in Serbia and Poland day after day. Sure, they can play Saturday, but this day seems to be intended for pop/hip-hop headliners.

The Cure playing Exit Festival in Serbia on 4th July, which makes them less probable for Open'er now.

P!nk playing Warsaw on Jul 20, 2019 and looks busy first week of July, so maybe it's a no for Open'er....
There are no chances for P!nk playing Open'er. I'm changing my set of probable headliners to: The Cure / M&S / Muse / Kendrick Lamar.

Europe! I’m coming for you!!! Keep an eye out for more details this Tues, Oct 16! ?#beautifultraumatour
No Open'er then. I wonder who will be a saturday headliner. She seemed to be well suited for this slot.

I hope we'll be surprised and M&S won't play Open'er :p Seeing them twice already is one time too many.
There is a new The Raconteurs' album coming in 2019, but are they a headliner material? Anyway, I'd love to see them.

Do we think it will be better or worse for Open’er that Werchter is a week before in 2019?
IMO it should be better, as there won't be any clashes between those 2 festivals. Do we think that The Cure and M&S are now pretty solid options for Open'er? I guess something like that is very probable: M&S - The Cure - Muse - Pink.
-
I've been attending Open'er since 2011 and only in 2012 the weather didn't allow us to go to the beach (there is a nice beach 15 minutes walk from the campsite, you can also take a bus.)
I'd say lack of alcohol is the major drawback of the festival. Unfortunately, it is related to legislative issues, so there's nothing they can do about it.

Gonna update my prediction; The Cure, Mumford & Sons, Muse, Ed Sheeran/P!nk/Ariana/Yougethegist...
See my post above about Ed Sheeran. The Cure are becoming more and more probable
:
-
According to the media release, Ed Sheeran's won't play in Poland next year and the closest show will be in Prague.
-
I don't really care about this guy and I've never listened to him, but if I am to choose between him or Nicki Minaj / Cardi B or some other pop-slot contender of this type, I'm fine with him taking the Saturday slot.
-
If you look at this year's headliners (but not only, just to mention Prince, RHCP or Coldplay), I'm not sure if anything can be too big for Open'er. However, the problem might be in competing for artists with other festivals.
What makes me think that McCartney and Metallica are probable is the fact that they played or will play in Poland this year (similar story as with Bruno Mars, Gorillaz and Depeche Mode).Weezer are definitely too small to be a headliner, but the rest of your guesses are quite probable.
-
Anyway, 3 big names are rumoured to be touring in Europe the next summer – Metallica, Paul McCartney and The Cure. I hope we'll get at least one of them.

I have a strong feeling about Metallica, though it wouldn't be in line with the recent pop/rap attitude of Open'er.

3 - 6 July 2019
They've (finally) redesigned the website after a few years https://opener.pl/en/
The countdown begins...
The new website is pretty cool. This year I'm hoping for the following set of headliners: Arcade Fire, Paul McCartney, Metallica. The fourth headliner will be for sure a pop/rap name, which I'm not really interested in.
Btw, gregory, I haven't seen any coverage from you on 2018 edition. What are your thoughts? Best shows?
-
What are your impressions? This year, I went only for the first 2 days and these were really good. My top 5 is:
1. David Byrne
2. Nick Cave
3. Massive Attack
4. Arctic Monkeys
5. Noel Gallagher / Mount KimbieI was afraid of technical issues due to the record-breaking tickets sale, but it wasn't that bad. Although, you had to choose the right moment to order some food or to go to the toilet (I've never seen such lines to the toilets like after AM show :D).

Hey all
Does anyone know what the alcohol situation is at the festival this year? I last attended in 2013 and could only get Heineken & Desperados... is there anything else on sale nowadays? (I am attending the festival, not camping btw) xo
Beers: Heineken, Desperados, Żywiec (zone 'Strefa Żywca' with good wheat beer); Jägermeister; and some brand of whiskey, I'm not sure which one.

Hi everyone
First time going to Opener this year and I cannot find info if you can bring your own purchased alcohol into camping area? Do they have no glass policy? Also, what about security? Do they check every person's bags? Do they have sniffer dogs?
You can bring your own beer that you bought outside the campsite but this must be in cans and the same brand that they sell at the camspite (e.g. Heineken, Żywiec, Desperados). They check all bags, sometimes more thoroughly, sometimes less. I haven't seen any sniffer dogs in last 7 years.

Great news with Noel Gallagher! Always thought it would be his brother who would show up. Anyone who knows if any of the other announced acts are good?
Mount Kimbie are fine! When it comes to Polish acts I can definitely recommend Król and Bokka.

A few lineup changes;
- Kortez have been upgraded from Tent to Main.
- Alma has been upgraded from Alter to Tent.
- Kali Uchis has (finally) been moved from Thurs to Fri.
Krotez has no stage yet, a post from the facebook group was about Organek - he's going to play Main Stage on Thursday, even though he was announced for Friday
What they did with Kali Uchis is ridiculous. It's been known for several months that she's playing RW on Thursday. Open'er made the whole campaing, posters, ads on TV, etc. and then they changed the day she's playing. I have no words. I won't even comment on Alma playing Tent Stage (fucking joke).

I guess they couldn't fit the 12 playing cards on one image. Part 2 will be later today I guess.
It's all getting more and more ridiculous. From what I've read, some of these acts are quite popular in the world of electronic music, but the way how they're announcing them makes the whole reception much worse than it would be in normal circumstances.

It's only 26 days till the festival, let's divide the announcements of this little stage into parts

Even artists can't handle the pace of announcements and announce themselves on their own:

Rasmentalism is on the Main Stage. I assume this is bad news @mln
Sure it is, it probalby means there won't be anything new for the Main Stage on that day (maybe apart from some little Polish band to play at 4:00 p.m.)

Unfortunately, The Cure do not have such a big commercial potential to break the habit of inviting Saturday pop/rap headliners, who, sadly to admit, attracted a majority of audience in recent years.
I bet on Muse, but I also did on P!nk and The Cure. You can't be sure. There are still some more acts circulating in festival rumors, e.g. Kendrick Lamar, The Strokes, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Raconteurs (Alter Art seem to get on well with Jack White).
