Excellent reviews! The instrument Steve Knightley plays is called a Mandocello (sp?) and I think it is indeed a cross between a guitar and a lute. They're made by a Devonshire guitar maker (unfortunately I forget his name but he is name checked on a couple of Show of Hands albums). I've seen Show of Hands many times now and they are fantastic musicians and one of the best 'roots' live acts I've seen. Next time I see them playing down this way I'll let you know!

I saw Rancid at the Academy a couple of years ago - excellent gig. Enjoy!

Well done for braving the docs. I hope you're feeling a little calmer having seen people who can tell you what is actually wrong... Be thinking of you next Monday.
6 syringes full?! I didn't think you could get bleeding treatments on the nhs these days!!! I recommend a course of leeches etc etc etc....
All the best mate

Same as everyone else mate, I really hope you're wrong and its not so serious.
I know what you mean about not knowing whether to have the tests. My own view is that Id want to know one way or the other. Not knowing, and constantly worrying and wondering about such things can have a major effect on your life too. If you know, at the very worst you can confront it and do what you have to.
Mel, Seb and me send thoughts and love mate. Hope we'll see you soon.

Very cool site I like it lots!
I bought the book of the same name (or very similar) a few weeks ago but haven't got round to reading it yet...

Inspiring stuff mate! I raised my glass to Mabon last night and to my new beginnings in Plymouth where I've been all week (no sign of house completing yet though...more when I get a chance to update my blog) Seems somehow appropriate that all the changes to my life are happening around the time of Mabon...but then Im not an expert in these things!

Aww thanks hipster! Don't think it would have been difficult to miss the news - we haven't exactly been shouting it from the rooftops! But definitely looking forward to seeing you and bus at BD and discussing life, relocations and hoping the Elster and Seb can keep each other occupied for a while allowing the grown ups to drink in peace!

Scott, Truck is a great festie. I went to my 2nd Truck this year and thoroughly enjoyed again. I'll be going next year for sure so I could pick you up on my way past Exeter from our new abode in Cornwall!

Mate thats exactly how I felt about Glasto earlier this year and which lead me to give it a miss! As you know we made it on Sunday but nevertheless I think making the wrenching decision not to go back in April this year helped me to focus on what I love about the place and to reaffirm that I want to go next year. Not saying that you should have a year off, but certainly questioning why you want to write it on the calendar every year is healthy!! For me, I think that maybe Glasto isn't the number 1 anymore, but theres still enough to drag me back there every year!!
See you early on Friday at Escot!
