Only UK show of the year for Stormzy. Wonder how the undercard will be curated genre wise.

Dua Lipa is playing the Jingle Bell Ball in December so maybe new music coming sooner rather than later?

I flew in and out of Zaragoza and got the train to Barcelona this year to cut down on costs- was cheaper than Madrid. Haven't looked for 2023 but was very easy.

I just got 2 Paramore on o2 priority- only seats left

I got two first releases for the spotify altar printworks @ 24.50ish, looking like I can't make it now but unsure how to resell as theres nothing on twickets for this sort of thing. Anyone any ideas? Also happy to sell here for 20 a pop

My money is on Loyle Carner to headline the smaller main stage. New album coming out, big tour with a wembley arena date, has headlined smaller festivals and twitter was non stop asking for him after the drop outs.

Theres a Tame Impala pop up in Hoxton tonight that are giving away tickets- no idea how many but might be worth popping down to if anyone is local.

I bought three field day tickets on the day of release via festicket- have downloaded the app today to get the tickets and I have 6 in my account. They all have unique ID #s etc, definitely 6 tickets there, and I definitely didn't take advantage of any 2 4 1 offers. Do you think these will be taken back off me at some point?

Echoing all the positive sentiments in here- absolutely loved my 4 days at Mad Cool! Everyday we started with a bang (Wolf Alice, Nothing But Thieves, Local Natives all really good). And ended just as fantastically with Alt J, Foals and Florence. A lot of bands I thought I'd lost interest in but just the right amount of nostalgia and good new tunes made it an almost perfect festival.
Also struggled getting back on the Wednesday- we were staying at Plaza Castilla and stupidly couldn't find the shuttle bus but every other day was a breeze.
I went to Primavera last month too, and the difference in the crowd was the biggest positive difference- spacious and comfortable but not at the expense of atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed! -

Does she do much Alabama Shakes stuff? Loved their albums but never saw them live before the split.
None at all sadly! But a bunch of covers- Nina Simone, Jackie Wilson etc. As good as she was I would love an Alabama Shakes reunion though, without the dodgy one.

Was anyone at Jamie XX's set at Boardmasters or Wilderness this year? Anyone know what his set is going to be like /what he tends to play? hasnt had anything new out, apart from a single last year. Was expecting an album push as part of these shows.
Was at wilderness, the set contained his new single, one album track that wasn't a single, one small snippet of loud places and then loads of unidentifiable beats but I'm no dance music expert. Was fun though.

I wouldn't be so sure. It takes about a year from finished recording to release on a normal promo-cycle and last I've heard they were still in the studio in April/May. Also they don't really seem to be the band to surprise-release anything they always had a huge album promotion for the last two records.
They did do festivals for everything now pre album release though I think? Seem to remember them releasing creature comfort maybe a day before they did primavera

Which comes out as the same problem. Also PF festival is like what 20,000 peeps? Thats 1/4 of Mad Cool if I'm not mistaken.
There is absolutely no indication that Arcade Fire are touring. The Album isn't even finished.
I still think the remaining headliners are more in the magnitude of Pixies. At some point you gotta stop throwing out money because you already made the threshhold to selling out. Considering the size of the acts, the prices for this are ridiculously low and they have to bring that money back in after all.
Edit: Also someone over at the Primavera Thread posted an article that says, NIN are an European exclusive at Hellfest.I absolutely love arcade fire but after everything now the next album needs to be back to form to stop them falling to pixies magnitude. Also very likely the album will come out 2022!

Its tricky to say until we know who's at other festivals but I'm sure there'll be festivals with female headliners in 2022

Very good points and yes I do see what you mean. The thing is how/who do you replace Billie & Taylor with? They are both iconic in their own way and Billie playing was a big draw for my partner. Clearly they have not gone for a like for like swap but how could you? Surely all they have done is try to book the biggest acts available at that time next year.
I also wish they had kept the likes of Haim, Glass Animals and others like Sam Fender but feel they have tried to keep as much as they could.
I await the last 3 headliners with interest but feel it will be poor if they do not release them before the refund process as clearly the lineup at the top end has changed dramatically to the one people bought tickets for.
Well we know they lost out on the available Dua Lipa and Lorde. I'm not vouching for the quality of, nor do we know the availability of, but Cardi B, Rosalia, Travis Scott etc all add something a bit different. Variety is the spice of life 🙂

I get that younger people may not be frilled by the lineup but shock horror older people like music and sometime promotors cater for them.
I certainly fall in to the "older bracket" and I think that's an awesome line-up and at a give away price. If you like Metallica, Muse, Killers etc you will have paid about the same to see one of their gigs as you did to buy a Mad Cool ticket. I paid more to see Metallica at Twickenham on their last tour then I did for my Madcool ticket and Muse at the Olympic Stadium was ruffly the same price as Madcool.
Not every festival will appeal to everyone and if MC looks bland/safe to you or even awful there is plenty of other festivals to choose from. There is so much for me its going to be clash city but totally get that a lot of youngsters may be horrified by the headliners and subs. However, plenty of smaller interesting acts on the lineup but if the headliners are not for you they will be playing other events.
You're missing the point that people booked this festival with billie eilish, taylor swift, haim, Anderson paak, glass animals on the card and in mind, and now have tickets to see Metallica, Muse and Puscifer. This is why people are disappointed rather than angry that a festival dare appeal to a different demographic.
Personally I have tickets to primavera and mad cool so not so fussed 😁

Green Day tour is already fully announced to my knowledge. I really don't think we should expect anything really big here anymore. Including Billie Eilish. None of the festivals she was scheduled for has her back, she is just on another tour leg now.
Also chances for Taylor Swift are near nil. Her 2020 tour was supposed to be a promotional move but touring Europe does not really do anything else for her. She is way too expensive on a normal cycle and her standing in Europe just isn't strong enough to make her come over the pond if there are US-opportunities, where the revenue would just be much much higher. She sold out Wembley twice there is just no possibility to book her outside of promo tours.I think Taylor swift has unfinished business with Glastonbury and when she decides to headline there other European festivals will also have the opportunity to book her.

The problem for me is I've had the opportunity to catch the killers, kings of Leon etc even Metallica at a heap of festivals before, and I didn't mind this when the likes of Taylor swift were alongside them, but when you remove the less festival circuit headliner types and overload it with circuit ones it looks so uninspiring. Losing haim, Anderson paak etc has weakened the undercard too. However, once I'm in Madrid there'll be no more complaints from me 😁

This festival used to be so strong top to bottom, strange direction they've taken. Is it the competition from Mad Cool?
