  1. Voted by who as best UK band? If I asked my friends, they'd probably vote Tribes as the best UK band. It doesn't mean a thing, and so it's pointless evidence. And looking at Kasabian's Wikipedia page, they didn't win any awards last year, so I doubt they were voted best UK band.

  2. If you genuinely believe commercial success makes someone a strong R&L headliner, I don't know what else to say to you.

Well it kinda does. If a band fails commercially IE nobody buys their albums or they play small venues they will not headline. Kasabian number 1albums play arenas= Successful headliner.

    I really dont understand you

  3. I really thought most people understood why you can't prove anything with things like that. Nobody had used things like that as "proof" for a long time on here, and I thought we were evolving towards a much more rational forum. Thanks for the humour though.

I take it you're a massive Westlife fan then yeah?

  4. I've yet to see how what you've said makes them not a weak headliner. I do think they're a weak headliner but not for the reasons already stated. However like i've said just because they sell records or get voted the best UK band in a poll, it doesn't mean they're any good.

  5. I am laughing at some of the comments on here over the last couple of days 2 being

"Kasabian are a weak headliner" they were voted best UK band last year. Number 1 albums, some great songs. Some very narrow minded people in these forums.

    And...

the twitter discussion and how Bloc Party like to "Troll" interviewers.

Come on guys.. If a member of a band replies to a comment on twitter normally tells the truth. If they were playing they wouldn't reply. He has even confirmed about 5 times they arent playing. I bet they are at V subbing the Killers. Plus tweeting him is not an interview.

  6. Blur (only playing London Live), Roses (would they really work at R&L), Green Day (it's been said for a long time about them supposedly not playing R&L again), The Cure (that one's been debated here), Daft Punk/Slipknot (not touring), I'll give you SOAD but the fest has said about moving away from rockier/heavier stuff, LP have played in England every year for the last five.

With regards to some of them, and the rest you mentioned, I did say discounting them taking risks, which I just can't see FR doing anymore.

There's really not that many headliners who are: a. avaliable and b. in keeping with the direction of what FR want for the festival.

That said, I'd love them to take risks and go for someone a little bit different. It's not going to happen though, and I think the group of headliners R&L have to choose from will get smaller and smaller. It's also damaged this year, as mentioned, through other circumstances such as the financial crisis etc. I think if Kasabian, Bloc Party and Foo's are headliners, it's an awful set of headliners, but there's really not that many avaliable.

  7. Dizzees playing way too many festivals this year hope he doesn't come. Also Bloc Party isn't a band everyone is hyped for now they have reformed. No wgere near as much attention as Blink, Soad, Refused, ATDI, Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, Pulp etc got. Plus there new album wont be out (i dont think) sooo... why would they headline they are in the same situation as they were in 09 when they subbed.
