What does the resale selling out in 6 minutes say about demand for tickets (and this future viabiltiy)?

I think next year's general sale, after a second year of TikTok/Instagram Reels-buzz and potentially the highest rated BBC Glastonbury broadcast ever (Elton John), is going to be an absolute bloodbath.

I'm hoping that the failed bank transactions in October played a big factor today. I remember reading quite a few comments on here about people who thought they had tickets secured after payment went through, but then the payment declined for some reason. And I think all of those managed to get their tickets honoured. It's possible that this meant that they oversubscribed the allocation and dipped in to future cancellations, so a big portion were already accounted for today. It was a big enough issue that they did away with payments at point of purchase altogether today, as they couldn't risk the same thing happening again. That's what I'm hoping anyway

Taking a break at work listening to this to soothe me through the hump day morning. Happy Wednesday, folks!

Yeah, really liking what I've heard of them, but if the clashfinder is correct there's no way I'm making it to West Holts 11.30 on Saturday Morning

  4. 2008, rocked up Wednesday lunchtime and the place was half empty, got a prime spot in Kidney Mead, unthinkable now.

Hit it far too hard on Friday, lost my mate (no phones) and didn't see him until the next day.

Always remember the buzz going round the place Saturday in the build up to Jay Z, then he made one of the greatest entrances I've ever seen.

I miss the flare sticks, fires and lanterns you used to get in the crowds, but understand why the lanterns had to stop.

It means that everyone needs to stop getting upset that if the price goes up and the talent level doesnt meet that price you have to realize the cost increase is to keep the lights on. Lets expect more dj's on those small stages again and less bands.

My prediction of hitting £400 in 5 years is way ahead of schedule now. Next year itll go up another £25 easy.

I'm not upset about the price, I was pointing out that the fact she is saying they have charged half as much extra as it would have cost just to keep it the same as last year, when last year already felt a little bit cut back. So we are looking at cut backs on last years cut backs.

It's probably an unpopular opinion seeing he is such a big part of the history of the place, but I wonder how much of the budget could be saved by losing the two big Joe Rush installations (Glastonbury on sea and Cinemaggedon). Neither of which seem worth the time and effort to be honest.

I would be happy to pay a lot more than the current price, I think it is terrific value for what we get. But I'm not blind to the fact that I'm in a privileged position to be able to afford it.

its the wold's worst excuse for a bad booking.

i'll just point out that i got lizzo and capaldi right.

That's not the point. You ridiculed Roughbloke initially for saying GNR.

When you found out GNR were actually playing, you ridiculed his reason for saying they were playing.

When Emily confirmed his reason, you say Emily is making it up.

Apologise to Roughbloke, or at the very least admit you were wrong.

That's all you need to do to draw a line under this whole sorry saga

  7. This is worrying, felt like a slightly cut down version last time, what does it mean for this year

In October, Glastonbury made headlines when it announced that ticket prices would rise by £55 to £340 (including booking fee). “We put it up [by] the minimum we could,” said Eavis. “In order to do the exact same show as last time, we would have had to put £100 on the ticket. That’s the amount that costs have gone up.”

32 members currently browsing. Glad to see there's 31 other people who'd rather read this absolute nonsense than do the jobs they're assumedly at right now.

It's part of my Glastonbury build up. We should get Neil melt downs added to The Thingy

I was somewhat sceptical that a man of his vintage had the energy levels for the descriptions being suggested, not least that he was a bit of a figure of mockery when I was a teen and that was forty years ago.

Haven't done a search, is he one of those oldies that follows the James Brown route and surrounds himself with more vivacious performers?

from what I've seen, he's more drunk nan at a wedding vibes

Hate to disappoint you but, because it's not first come first served, the shop applications will be open until March 3rd so it will look like there's something available until they close.

Good! gives us manual refreshers a better chance

Thanks for this - much appreciated!

apologies if my original post came across as flippant - I fully appreciate the steward roles are important and need committed people. I have had a fabulous time at all festivals I have attended and that is in no small part down to the excellent organisation and lovely volunteers you meet who ensure you have a great, safe time. Rest assured I am fully committed to ensuring i do the role justice!

Didn't come across flippant at all. For what it's worth it was my first time last year, I ended up on a vehicle gate. Two shifts on a busy gate on the west side, and once on the gate up to camp Kerala.

Pedestrian gate would be much more preferable in my opinion. At least the people you are letting in are punters who are happy to be there, I mainly had trade and security coming through, 90% of who saw me as an inconvenient pain in the arse.

We watched the UK version and just finishing up the US version. May do the Aus version next.

Part of me loves it, part of me just struggles with the fact they don't have enough information to go on. I'm probably not enjoying it as much as the average season of Survivor.

If you like The Traitors though and don't mind subtitled stuff, I can't recommend enough seeking out "The Genius Game" - a Korean show that takes the social strategy idea and really runs with it.

If you are fan of Survivor you may be interested to know it's coming to the UK this year, BBC are going to be doing it.

I'm just finishing off my application, you can apply for it here: https://shortaudition.com/Survivor
