I think it's been mentioned previously but do you think it could be Christine and the Queens (Chris) and they're holding off announcing her due to APE?

It would be weird to have Christine headlining and sve only subbing

  2. Leaving on Monday can be a bit of a nightmare in terms of getting out of the carpark, especially if you're lazy like me and my friends. If you don't want to be stuck in an hour long queue definitely leave as early as possible.

Fortunately we crew so we park right by the entrance

How come? There aren't any boygenius tour dates in the future - not even for Primavera, where I'm sure the idea was floated and where it would have been the most financially prosperous - so, if anything, I think the BOCC thing means that they're on to their next projects.

Fair, although they were definitely listed to play all points east on the bon iver day on their band camp. Don't know if that's changed. I'd be surprised if they didn't tour boygenius across a festival season, and there are plenty more to be announced. And eotr or green Man would be their natural fit in the UK. But I don't know anything.

Phoebe and Lucy both played last year so doubtful they'll be back unfortunately.

Julia Jacklin is the one we need.

Lucy and Julien played eotr so don't see it as too much of a problem, as I'd imagine boygenius would be at one of GM or eotr

    That'd be the dream

Saw all three of them individually last summer, and they where all fantastic. Baker was slightly ruined by a group of middle aged people next to me complaining about how depressing it was. (You're at a festival-move ffs). They were one of the best things to come out of 2018 for me

Would My Bloody Valentine be the right size for a headliner here?

it's a difficult one. they've got a lot of fan boys/girls but not sure they have the broad appeal for a headliner.

Although i suppose you could say that about king gizz. But then i guess gizz were a lot cheaper than MBV would be.

    Basically i don't know

I agree. They did have the reusable system around 5(?) years ago, from when I still have several rather lovely cups, then abandoned it. I complained to them at the time and was told that they reckon the disposable cups are MORE environmentally friendly! Whether or not this is true, I HATE them, they are horrible to drink out of and form about 90% of the litter on site.

The year after abandoning the system, they were even refusing to fill reusable mugs that had been brought in. This year I saw several people using their own mugs/cups, so I shall bring my own next year.

That's bollocks. I had around 10 pints over the weekend. 10 plastic cups is easily more plastic than 1 single mug/cup. I also still have reusable cups from festivals 5 years ago. Whilst there are thousands of disposable cups on the way to landfill.

So i bought a GM reusable mug with me. On thursday night the guys behind the bar pulled pints into it. Then on Friday they refused and insisted they had to pour it into their disposable one.

I think there is something in the programme about a target date to stop using single use plastics at the festival.

That's all very well about having a vague target but it's quite an easy fix, and as mentioned above they've actually reverted back to single use plastics. Sorry to turn into a bit of an eco bore but it's quite an easy fix and would have quite a large impact on the waste footprint of the festival imo.

  8. Forgot to mention that I thought having disposable plastic cups at the bars was pretty poor, and goes against any claims they have of being an environmentally friendly festival. Other similar size/bigger festivals have a system where you get/buy a pint cup for the entire weekend, so i imagine the only reason EOTR don't do that is that they can't be bothered.

  9. First time at EOTR and it was a real real pleasure, can't quite get over how good the music was. Protomartyr, Haley Heynderickx, Shame and the AK/DK vs Snapped Ankles sets were my personal highlights. The snapped ankles set is one of the best i've ever seen. God i wish i could do it all again.

Minor gripes about the beer running out; also didn't really rate the overall selection but personal preference. I was working sunday night stuck in the car park so i missed idles but I suppose if i wanted to see everyone i should have bought a ticket.

Personal preference but I can't say I fell in love with the festival the same way as I have with Green Man, so won' be rushing back unless there's a similarly good lineup.

  10. Another excellent year. Line up for me wasn't anywhere near as good as last years, but highlights musically were RCBF, phoebe bridgers and King Tuff. PSB really surprised me, although I couldn't get into the tent which was a shame. I was stewarding which was fun. Everyone at the festival is very well behaved I must say. The litter pickers I spoke to were so bored because nobody was dropping rubbish. Had a lot of fun playing with the marauding kids at the main stage on Sunday night.

I really enjoyed the divisiveness of fleet foxes and war on drugs as headliners. My thoughts were that they were both fine if unspectacular and rather samey, but they do both have some bangers. Don't really see how anyone can have strong opinions on either.

Can you not even wander about to try and keep warm? Are you like allocated a specific place to stand and closely supervised or...?

At least it's out the way at the start. I can't believe anyone would choose to work that shift on the Monday. I'd much rather not go than have that to look forward to all week hahaha.

well some people are on the gates checking wrist bands so they have to stay pretty still. Others are assigned to a tent or installations so obviously there's scope to walk around a bit. There are only 2 supervisors for a shift so you don't get checked up on much, and even then they're pretty chilled out.

No dice on shift A but got my backup option in D so I'll take it. Got to work 1am-7am on Friday morning, is that literally gonna be stood around with nothing to do trying to stay awake then? That'll be fun if it's raining lol.

I get to see all the acts I care about, assuming Boy Azooga are on later than 1pm, so it's defo a win. Only working during the afternoon/evening on Sunday but I don't know any acts on then anyway so not arsed about that. Grizzly Bear into War On Drugs will do me nicely that day. Heard good things about Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever too so hopefully they're on after 7 but no biggie if not.

I did shift D last year, the early Friday morning shift was an absolute killer. Nothing happens and you just stand around freezing your arse off.  I thought it would be a good idea to get quite drunk before it last year, but i started feeling a bit hungover around 4am so wouldn't recommend doing that.
