Disaster has struck and I shall no longer be able to attend. To say that I’m gutted would be a massive understatement.

Hope you all have a great time and see you all in the 2020 thread! Think i’ll have to get early bird tickets to make up for the disappointment.

Mate that's gutting, can't think of a less deserving person to happen to after that playlist

How are the food stalls at Green Man?

First time there and debating whether to take cooking kit/food

I never have done at Glastonbury, just eaten there and I'm assuming the food at GM will be comparable to that?

The food is fantastic. I always take my cooking equipment but normally give up on Friday morning

Currently altered the above to be something like this (must see)

    Thu: Nov3l / Callum Easter - Audiobooks - Bodega - These New Puritans - Amadou & Mariam

    Fri: Jerry - Penelope Isles - (TVAM) - (Tamino) - The Beths - (Anna St Louis) - Pigs x 7 - Bridget St John - Dry Cleaning - Gwenno - Stealing Sheep - Villagers - Khruangbin - Ex:Re - Maribou State - (Snapped Ankles)

Sat: Modern Nature - Jockstrap - Hen Ogledd - Stella Donnelly - Peaness - Sons of Kemet - Oscar Lang - Lee Fields & The Expressions - Porridge Radio / Avi Buffalo - (Big Thief) - Richard Thompson - (Stereolab) - Car Seat Headrest - Four Tet - (The Comet is Coming)

Sun: Self Esteem - Grimm Grimm - Foxwarren - Yak - (Anais Mitchell) - (The Liminanas) - Pottery - White Fence - Eels - (James Yorkston) - Sharon Van Etten - Pozi / The Growlers - (Father John Misty) - Idles

I'll be disappointed to miss BCNR, Scalping, Squid, the full Snapped Ankles set, Big Thief and Aldous Harding, but I've seen all bar BCNR & Scalping and they all have accessible upcoming tour dates, which I'll probably take as a cue to explore!

I'd like Porridge Radio, Pottery and Aidan Moffat & RM Hubbert to announce tours in order to resolve clashes with Avi Buffalo, The Liminanas and BCNR/Richard Thompson, respectively.

Friday (16:00-23:00) and Saturday (19:00-1:00) are particularly brutal in terms of clashes for me, with some tough decisions. Of course, the final Clashfinder on Monday (complete with Chai Wallahs too. Ahhh!) could throw up a whole new set of problems!

I've had a solid listen to the Playlists, but don't really fell like I've covered everything. Am I missing anything obvious here?

Aidan moffat and RM hubbart posted saying the dates they've got announced are their last ever

The person who made the clash finder did it after the stage splits had come out at the start of this month. I don’t think that’s too premature.

My point was that I think people are putting too much weight behind the clashfinder statistics of bands people are planning to see, in that people that use the clashfinder so far in advance are probably major festival nerds like us, and therefore only represent a small percentage of the GM punters

Yeah that’s also true! Stereolab and Big Thief are my no.1 and no. 3 must sees respectively so I’m just going to stay at the front for them and miss BCNR as I’m sure I’ll catch them somewhere else.

Then hopefully see as much of CSH as possible - I thought someone said here that CSH and Stereolab weren’t clashing? Maybe try and see some of Four Tet after but ultimately get in a good position for The Comet is Coming which could well be the set of the weekend in that slot!

Oh god I forgot about big thief

Anyone else going to be running between the Mountain Stage and Far Out late Saturday afternoon to catch as much as Sons of Kemet, A Certain Ratio, Lee Fields and KOKOKO as possible??

for me that extends into the evening, want to see sterolab, car seat headrest, black country new road and maybe a little bit of four tet. All sounds far too stressful

The Beths and Durand Jones could be a nasty clash too. Another one for me is Stella Donnelly, The Big Moon and Beabadoobee. I think some of my choices this year will be based on the fact that I love the Walled Garden stage on a sunny day.

Also - I caught Self Esteem at Field Day 2018 and All Points East last month and they were great. They really felt like a band on the rise at the later.

I'm a big fan of Rebecca's previous band Slow Club (In Waves is such a good track) and her old band mate Charles Watson has appeared in a variety of guises at Green Man in recent years (solo, The Surfing Magazines and in Sweet Baboo's band). There's a documentary about their break up but I've not managed to track it down anywhere:

With Self Esteem you get the impression she is producing the music she has always wanted to Make.

    Careful now

I’ve just looked at the Sleaford Mods and PJ Harvey setup on clashfinder so how about Eels headline (ie. play the big set) Far Out and Idles close it, and then Shazza into Father as expected on the main stage.

    I think that's it

Has anyone on here ever done any Stewarding at Green Man?

I'm quite keen to give it a go, haven't volunteered at a festival before but I think it could be fun. The one potential problem that might scupper the idea is having to get to the site on the Wednesday. I don't drive and although it is easy to travel from Manchester to Abergavenny on the Train it looks like the shuttle buses to the site only start on Thursday.

Does anyone know if they usually lay on transport from Abergavenny for the volunteers on the Wednesday?

    Thanks

I've been the past two years on Wednesday and it's really really easy to meet people at the train station and take a taxi. If my memory serves correctly it's a fiver each.

In 2017 I met three people at the train station, hit it off, spent a lot of the weekend with them and did eotr with them last year and this summer.

Wednesday is also a lot of fun, you're able to explore the arena before everyone else gets there and the staff bar is open.

Jarvis Cocker is in the talking shop.

Any chance he could be the last Headliner or at least added to the music line up?

He is doing some festivals this summer with his new project

He's playing eotr, Green Man's main competitor, so I'd say unlikely. However could explain the late announcement.

  11. Really hoping idles are on Friday. Working Saturday night and missing my number 1 act of the weekend in car seat headrest. Also hoping that the Beths and pigs are on after 7pm as I'm also working Friday afternoon.

    Why don't I just pay for a ticket I don't know

Cheers! I can stop moaning now! ?

The main draw for me is the sheer number of high quality acts I haven't caught before, but have long been on the watch list and/or come well recommended. On that basis: Four Tet, Amadou & Mariam, Gwenno, Stella Donnelly, The Beths, Pozi, Porridge Radio, Pigs x7, Black Country New Road, Jockstrap, Hen Ogledd, Sons of Kemet, Khruangbin, Richard Thompson, Nilufer Yanya, Eels, Audiobooks, Bill Ryder-Jones, Car Seat Headrest, Foxwarren, James Yorkston, Julia Jacklin, Lee Field & The Expressions, Pottery, Stereolab, The Liminanas, Yak, Whitney and The Mauscovic Dance Band.

SVE, Penelope Isles, Squid, Ezra Collective, The Comet is Coming, FJM, Aldous Harding, Big Thief, Idles and Bodega would all be great to see again if the schedule allows.

I suspect that I'm being very greedy, but would like to see as many of these as possible. The playlist is also throwing out some goodies, so who knows!

How realistic is it to see ~50 (almost) full sets, as I managed at EotR last year?

Very feasible, Green Man is easier to navigate in my opinion, with far fewer choke points between the main stages.

I didn't think it could get much better in terms of lineups than eotr last year, but this is very close

I cares about this latest announcement but after so many weeks and months and nothing am now past caring!

There are 5 or 6 acts that I have down as must sees. I really don't want to pick my shifts only to find I'm missing all of them

Truly one of the best live bands I've seen in the last couple of years.

They tanked it a bit at eotr last year. The monitor for lenker was having issues and that seemed to put her in a terrible mood.

They were fantastic when I saw them at green Man in 2017 and in Manchester the same year so I'm sure that was a one off. UFOF is the album of the year for me so far so very excited about seeing them at Green Man

Why? For some reason, Christine and the Queens is a much bigger name than Sharon Van Etten is out there in the world. Bigger than the two headliners as well.

Hmm not entirely sure for the GM audience
