Blimey, didn't know about that/them, didn't occur to me the army would be doing that too, just thought it would be up to MI6 or whatever they're called these days.

    What we do

77th Brigade constrains our hostile state actors and adversaries through information operations and targeting, deployed and at stand off.

Using intelligence to understand audiences and systems, analyse networks and identify intelligence opportunities, the Brigade holds a range of capabilities to deliver effect.

77th Brigade activities are best employed in concert with other military effects to achieve integrated action.

This is all written in present tense, as in what they're actively doing right now behind the scenes.

I find this stuff far scarier than climate change to be honest.

Apparently they were active during Covid.

New of bigger protests will come out and be public. News of the other type of protest will be kept quiet for obvious reasons.

The Tory Party Conference is from 1st to 4th October in Manchester this year.................. just some random information that is available on all public portals.

I'm supposed to be handing out leaflets at a CND demo on the 1st. Don't know if I will as I am only in the local group so I can get a job in the lock ups at Glastonbury.

Years back I had to join Mid Somerset Cnd to be able to work on the info points. Mercenary of me I know.

im intrigued how you think Labour have more detailed green policy than a party that set that out as their raison de etre ? im mean sure argue that the green policies are weaker elsewhere ?

Just for interest the main environmental groups post a league table of party manifesto near an election. Here is Greenpeace for 2019

Yes but the planet is surely more important than them being nonpartisan?

No political impartiality for environmental groups is more important than been ambassadors for a party. They need to hold governments to account. I don't know of any major group with political affiliations any I would be skeptical if they had.

They won’t get that by any major party in the UK. Labours offering is the best from any party and matches up with the vast majority of ERs aims. If they were bright then they’d try to get Labour into power.

Wouldn't XR then stop been non partisan?

Anyway, this is what investigative journalists do...whether it's Brand, or Schofield or Saville or MPs expenses or Watergate. Media often get there first and expose stuff that may have never come to light otherwise.

Can get the criminal side moving as well. The Harvey Weinstein thing started with a news story and he is doing serious time

Yes it is trial by media, and I am uncomfortable with that too. But, how many women's lives have been ruined by rape that they can't do anything about or get justice for.

If ends up in court are these women allowed to remain anonymous?

    Yes

I just read the guardian article and brand seems to have been an open secret in meediaworld.and have been lined up against him . All works better as a takedown if the allegations are true.

Will be interested in tonight's evidence. I don't like Brand. Met him once at an addiction conference. Twat I think we've had a thread about 2013 about him

    But let's see the evidence.

There was an interesting ongoing debate during the UK anti new road protests in the 90's (of which I was part).

Should we remain non-violent. The overall opinion was yes and to the best of my knowledge everyone upheld that choice. Although it depends on how you categorize violence. There were cases of women protecting tree houses deliberately urinating on climbers trying to evict them.

There was, however plenty of violence against the protesters, which I was a victim of.

Non-violence against people that is. Some machinery was damaged/destroyed.

The protests did have some success as the road building programme effectively stopped for a good number of years, probably due to the massive cost involved in evicting us.

Violence didn't really do much for the animal rights mob. It has all but died out now.
