Is that true??
Give me my t shirt .... (please.. )
It's true, tho it doesn't apply to 'net articles, only for 'printed on paper' ones.
And it's actually an eFestivals mug the person gets.
And any spots have to be posted in the pinned thread in the 'Discussions' forum.

I could see Neil Young perhaps doing the sunday afternoon slot as the friday headliners are usually a bit more lively. But i still do want to see him so i would probably watch him anyway.
My info - which I can't 100% verify as correct, but I believe to be correct - is that he's defo the Friday headliner.
I know what you mean about the Friday headliner normally being more lively - that idea put me off the scent of Young for nearly two weeks.
But still, me in front of the Pyramid on a Friday night - I'm not sure I've done that for over 20 years. I've not seen Neil Young, so it'd take a massive personal draw on a another stage to have me miss him.
-
I now have the confidence in Neil Young that I do Blur & Bruce.

hmm never heard of sound mag, might have to google that one..
sounds was like nme, melody maker and record mirror (before record mirror became pop and glossy a4-sized) - but far far better.
Sounds was without a doubt the best weekly music paper the UK has had in the last 30 years, because it didn't do the "let's make up a story cos we have pages to fill" thing that the other papers did and which nme still does now. It was a paper far more based on the real truth than hype than the alternatives (except perhaps MM, tho that was always a little too dry for me).
-
Didn't it have something to do with Sounds magazine? Before my time, I started reading it the mid to late 80s.
yep, it was a spin-off from Sounds. I miss Sounds.

Is eFestivals now using the Holy Moly mailout as a 'source' for festival rumours?!
yep, that's where that name came from - but it fits what I'd already been told, and having checked back on something I hadn't properly taken in, that adds to it too (so it's not just due to that mail). I'm hoping to have better sourced info somewhen soon.

since when was neil young popular with kids?
pish news if so.
the 'popular with kids' bit was something I'd tacked onto what I'd been told, because it's normally the case that the Friday act is more that direction.
-
I've just had some info which indicates that the Friday is to be headlined by Neil Young (which certainly fits the older male act tip I've been given from elsewhere).
However, I'm less sure of that than I am about Blur and Bruce.

Having checked, I can now confirm that none of the acts announced today are the headliners.
-
I didn't say they were headlining. They might be I guess, but I have no idea that they are, and would have thought it would have said that they were if they were.
-
who said they're headlining? I didn't. But they might be I guess, I have no idea.

Does byrne fit the 'older, rockier act who would appeal to younger fans- with or without his band' description?
I'm doubtful but i'd love it. I regret not being born for Talking Heads, especially Stop Making Sense- how good is the light dance?!
He's not an act I'd considered to fit those words, because he's simply not big enough to be considered as a headliner for the Pyramid.
If he was to play, I'd expect him to headline or be second from top on Jazzworld (in '98 he headlined JW).

? how do you know about Tinz flakin out at Larmer after consumiing MORE freebies? --c`mon let us know!!

eh??? .... I have no idea what you're talking about.
They'll be fresh Wychwood news first thing tomorrow, exclusively announced by eFestivals.

Sweet, i'm seeing him for the first time on this tour as well, are you going to one of London nights? Would be great to see him at glasto, whether with eno or on his own. Isn't he a bit like tom waits though, as in he much prefers doing his own shows to appearing at festivals?
I'm seeing him in Bristol.
He's done plenty of UK festivals over the last ten years - Glastonbury, Womad, Summer Sundae, Out There, and maybe some others that I forget.
I think that most acts would rather do their own shows than shows they have little control over as is the case with festivals. The up-side with a festival tho is that if the performer succeeds in winning over the crowd (which invariably isn't made up from just their own fans as a gig is) then I reckon it's got to be a far more rewarding experience.

Serious question why are people reading Kerrang? And admitting to it.
I read Kerrap ... the very first issue, in about 1980. It was crap then, and hasn't got any better.
Am I showing my age?

Me, I'd be in heaven - the best band ever are Talking Heads.
I'll be getting to see Byrne & Eno on their tour (and they'd better play stuff off 'My Life In the Bush of Ghosts' else I'll be mightily upset ) but would be ecstatic to get to see them at Glasto too.
Byrne played in (I think it was) '98 .... it was a bit of a shit show tbh (I saw him a few other times on the same tour), but that raved-up version of 'I Zimbra' he did was one of the best live adaptations I've ever heard.

more news defo coming soon.

Neil or anyone else who might know - were the Frank Turner and Reverend and the Makers rumours linked to the Leftfield stage? I've noticed that they've now both disappeared from the rumours page.
yep, they were. Also Kate Nash and Billy Bragg.

So what did ME mean in his Q interview?no idea, i've not read it. But I do have what should be excellent info that they're not playing next year.

I reckon guy garvey will have written in his contract for when he headlines the pyramid on friday that kloot have to be the supportbut that would mean that Elbow are playing - I'm 99% sure that they're not.

On a similar note, wonder if Neil or mr Bizzare know anymore about it. What are the plans for the Leftfield film release. Is it going to be nationwide or is it a one off showing?
I don't know - there was nothing about further showings in the press release for last night's London premiere.
new Springsteen 'rumour'

well, here's this thread back ...... I now think I'm in a position to explain......
This thread was seen by one of the senior Glasto staff, who got in touch with me off the back of it.
While that person has no involvement on any of the bands side (and so doesn't himself know who's playing), he knew from a convo he'd had with someone that does a week or so previous that leaks about who might be headlining had the potential to spoil whoever they were trying to line-up. He took it upon himself to contact me in the belief that such a certain statement as I'd made early in this thread might cause those problems, regardless of whether Springsteen was actually one of the acts they were talking to.
Because eFestivals has no wish to undermine what any festival is trying to do, it was agreed that it would be removed just in case it did cause the festival any problems. Because it was removed, a story had to be invented as cover, and that's what I gave for it's removal - a story.
I've never been contacted by anyone at Glasto in this way previously, and hopefully I won't be again - the whole thing was difficult at the eFestivals end, because we had to do down our own reputation for the benefit of Glastonbury Festival.
Before running the story that's been run today, I took the trouble to contact a senior glasto staff member who is in the loop about the bands to ask if running a story about the possible headliners (I didn't say the names, and he wouldn't have indicated one way or another anyway) still had the potential to have any act withdraw. He said that he didn't think it was likely as they're close to making the headliner agreements and are a long way down the path towards that; he also told me that as yet there is no full agreement with any act (and I believe him about this).
Anyway, I felt an explanation was deserved, so here it is.
