Dent Folk Festival 2003


A weekend of family fun in the Yorkshire Dales at various venues including Dent Sports Field, village school yard, Memorial Hall and The Sportsman's Inn. Major and local artistes plus childrens and adult workshops, dance, promenade theatre, stalls, vintage bus rides and other attractions.

This year's artists include: the return of the Michael McGoldrick Band; Martin Simpson - a renowned acoustic guitarist; Jon Boden and John Spiers - winners of the BBC Folk `Horizon' Award 2003.

Spellbound Theatre will be presenting 'Settle Carlisle', a drama about the building of The Settle Carlisle railway, especially re-written for the festival.

On Sunday, there will be a Grand Celidh where the children of Dent School will perform, as the culmination of a festival project teaching them local fiddle tunes and clog dancing.

There are three campsites in the village and various B&Bs are available.
