That's that ruined for me, ta.

I've seen split opinions on the Cudi bit. Some people absolutely love it. Just makes me chuckle if anything.

You must have already known that burning yourself doesn't make you bleed.

And yeah it's delivered not-dissimilarly to the original. I guess I both love it and it makes me laugh when I think about it.

Did Bjork still have darkness for all/most of her set? Be disappointed if Bonny ended up playing in daylight.

What the hell why did you single Bjork out for asking whether they played in daylight? Why not Nick Cave, who played the corresponding show last time? Baffling post.

Not sure if its already been mentioned but Friendly Fires have a new album out in the new year. Just released a new track with Disclosure (which is pretty good, very friendly fires). They have to be a shoe in for Glasto surely?? I hope so anyway.

It may have been mentioned in a different thread to this one.

  4. I was thinking earlier about how Mumford and Sons don't seem to have a likely major festival to play, unless it's Isle of Wight which would then mean Florence probably doesn't have one. So one of those two playing makes sense. Would say the Mumfords tour doesn't end until December.

Ghost Town is a stone cold jam. Best thing he's done since Runaway.

You might be right there actually. ULB is an obvious high point of post-MBDTF Yeezy but god does Ghost Town get me pumped. It's ridiculous too cos Cudi has some of the worst singing ever in his bit and 070 Shake's outro is utterly nonsensical (putting a hand on a stove to see if you still feel BLEED?) but it's an outstanding tune.

Reborn (KSG) is one of the most powerful songs of the year too. Massive credit to Cudder on that one.

I mean I guess it's possible that Ye/Cudi hired her and just went 'we want what Lorde had'? But that's a whole murky territory.

Tbf, the walled floating stage is essentially the outdoor equivalent of what Kanye had already done. Imagine a breeze against that Saint Pablo stage loool.

Don't forget that James Taylor (recently US Billboard #1 album artist) / Don Henley / Stevie Nicks / Pharell Williams etc have all "supported" the BST Hyde Park bill - Dylan may be a legend but I still maintain he fits a Neil Young undercard.

Clapton, Simon and King are all smaller, lesser known names than Dylan who headlined in recent years.

No, but looking at the Bob forum I used to frequent when I was a wannabe Bobcat I see someone was posting about this double bill back in September:

    https://expectingrain.com/discussions/viewtopic.php?p=1836637#p1836637

That's lots of people pointing to the same thing.

Huh that is surprising then. I think it would be the two of them sharing a headline bill, which surely neither would be above doing.

Hope they would make an arena tour out of it like some of those Bobheads are hoping for. I recall the last Neil tour was very pricey - so I avoided it - but I think I could fork out a bit more to see both of them on the same night.

    Yes, co-headliners

    Ah. Cheers for clarifying!

Tbh I'm not sure even that would do it. Seen them a handful of times (inc. their pretty good Glasto 2010 headline) but no inclination any more, like most on here have been saying. Even an anniversary of BH&R wouldn't really get the heartrate up, they just seem a bit of a parody of themselves now

Maybe if they did go away for a couple of years and came back with a genre-defying masterpiece (which they're probably capable of) we'd all sit up and take notice again - anything else just elicits a meh I'm afraid

I really doubt they're capable of translating the flashes of quality into even a half-good album. Even their old stuff doesn't really stand up imo; it was either a product of its time or I've grown out of it. Steering into the legacy seems the only option, but it seems viable to me given that people were pretty excited by their academy tour pre-Drones and that pre-Reading gig where they dug up loads of old tracks.

Dylan supporting Neil is exactly on-point - like Stevie Nicks supporting Tom Petty..

Dylan tours extensively mostly in 5,000 arena venues - Neil headlines festivals and can still sell The O2

Nah be real here. Dylan is a much bigger name than Nicks, still headlines fests when he plays them and plays arenas all about the place regardless of them not being the O2.

I could see it possibly being a thing like the old Tom Petty & Bob Dylan tours but not Neil Young and support.

C'mon, at least she's not gone out with Elon Musk.

I hope Lorde marries Elon Musk.

Kanye hired her to do a floating stage?

That's what is being reported. ES Devlin seems to have a long history of doing Kanye's sets.

Apparently she did Adele's stage setup an Stormzy's Brit Awards too. Never saw Adele call Stormzy out for stealing her rain. :P

Seen them on most tours and absolutely done with them now, the Drones tour was terrible and did me in also they’re not the live band they were. Dropping Plug In Baby from the set list was catastrophic. Over-exposure hasn’t helped, think everyone needs a break from them but they never go away. They sold out the last tour which was arenas due to the silly Drones gimmick they were trying to pull off but the 2nd Law stadium tour never sold out and I don’t expect this one to either.

They seem like a band who would get everyone back on side with an anniversary tour.

    It was unsolicited, natch.

Aye. He’s only free on Friday though, and we know who’s headlining that night - unless Emily was spouting some bizarre spiel about Elton - so I’d throw it out.

Looks good for 2020. Hopefully no Bublé.

    Clapping back at Lorde...

So Lorde hires the same stage designer as Kanye’s floating stage to do her own floating stage, snaps at Kanye for stealing her (a woman’s) idea and then their shared stage designer (also a woman) claps back at her claim of ownership.

He’s always around but never gets booked. He’s like Elton John but for the straights.

Elton would be a good, suitable booking though.

I saw the Foos there and thought it was far better for acoustics than both Wembley and the Emirates.

I recall reading about Grohl praising the sound quality there, saying it’s the best for an outdoor show in Europe or the world or something. Can’t find the quote now.
