The Big Chill boss Melvin Benn, has revealed that the festival is unlikely to return next year, instead a completely fresh take on what a festival should be is likely to replace the event which was first held in 1994.

Talking to the BBC Newsbeat website (here) Melvin Benn said, "I'm sure something will return that will have a completely fresh take on what a festival should be.

"The Big Chill [in 2012] was a clash with the Olympics but more importantly with the Big Chill it was me not being absolutely certain where I wanted to take the festival and what I was doing with the festival.

"I'm actually going down there next week to the very same site to have a look. I'll go with a couple of people that I hope will be working with me on - not the Big Chill, it won't necessarily be the Big Chill - but a replacement or something to be born out of that."

Melvin Benn has previously revealed to eFestivals that he has been approached with an idea to launch a new breed of festival, something that is an entirely new concept and not specifically centred on music, it could be that this concept event will be what replaces Big Chill next year. And, it certainly looks as though the Festival Republic boss is perhaps not considering bringing the event which was set to take place at Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire from Thursday 2nd until Sunday 5th August 2012 anytime soon. Instead it appears a new festival will be born out of the old highly evolved arts and music event.
