Founded in 1995 The Big Chill's main summer festival is held at Eastnor Castle, Herefordshire at the end of July/early August. The organisers encourage a "Leave No Trace" policy to dissuade people from littering the site. There are several stages and large tents.
The event started as an unlicensed event in the Welsh Blackdown Mountains, before developing as the Enchanted Garden as it was called when it was held at Larmer Tree Gardens in Wiltshire, and a one off year at Lulworth Castle in Dorset.
In 2009 the festival was sold to Festival Republic after financial difficulties. Festival Republic first ran their The Big Chill festivals in 2010 and 2011, before taking a year out, and the event has not made a comeback.
