Primal Scream, and Chipmunk have been confirmed for the inaugural Guernsey Festival of Performing Arts a new event which will take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July 2011 at The Rabbit Warren, Victoria Avenue, St Sampson on Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.

Primal Scream really need no introduction. Their seminal 1991 album 'Screamadelica' won the first ever Mercury Music Prize and received critical acclaim. The alternative rockers will head to Guernsey to perform this, their most famous body of work, as Sunday main stage headliners.

MOBO award winner Chipmunk has set the UK charts alight with no less than five No.1 singles and a debut album charting at No.2. With his second album on the way which he's sure to showcase tracks from on the main stage on Saturday.

Set in Guernsey countryside, a stones throw of the island's capital, St Peter Port, 'The Guernsey Festival of Performing Arts' will host over 80 music acts across four spectacular arenas. Festival goers will be able to enjoy headline acts at the Main Stage (Big Top), the cream of the international DJ scene at the 'Infectious Rhythm Dance Arena' and 'The Get Down Stage', and will also be able to see the rising talent from the local area at the 'Chaos Stage'.

Already confirmed are acts including Ocean Colour Scene, Frank Turner, The Gaslight Anthem, The Go! Team, Example, Lissie, Hayseed Dixie, THePETEBOX, Audrey Horne, Nemesis, Asylum Seekas, Seb Fontaine, Danny Rampling, Krafty Kuts, Darius Syrossian, A Skillz, Greg Wilson, and many more.

Having previously promoted a string of successful theatre and music events on the Island, festival organisers Paul and Jon Stephen explain the need for a large-scale high-profile event on the Island of Guernsey, "We wanted to continue to bring live entertainment to Guernsey, including more shows and music events, but also knew that there was a thirst for a large scale festival on the island, with big name acts..."

With many more big acts yet to be announced the event is set to provide an affordable weekend for music and arts fans on a scale that is not currently available in Guernsey.

Other attractions for festival goers include SilentArena, a specialised Arts Area, a Spine Ramp for skateboarders and BMXers, the worlds tallest mobile Reverse Bungee Rocket, market stalls, and catering stalls.

Early bird tickets are priced at £84. A Junior weekend (aged 13-15 years) ticket is priced at £64. A Kidz weekend (aged 5-12 years) ticket is priced at £24, under 5s can attend free. To buy tickets, click here.
