  1. As i stated i was wrong about the ABV. AND YOU ARE RIGHT.

However i was accused of the watering down from somebody else and yet despite the fact you cannot find a quote from me saying this to highlight you still try to connect me with this.

As for the dick swinging competition you wish to enter into YOU HAVE THE BIGGEST however, yes i have been behind a bar. In fact have lived in two. Both Whitbread inns, staying as a friend/assistant before we get into the what course this/that it was entirely unpaid as i had my own job to go to. Has to be 15 years ago, always hated changing the Guinness because it had a different connector that i always found a bitch to change, and because it was not the most popular drink it was rare getting practice. Pump cleaning, 2 pints for free for the lucky customer then the rest in the bucket. Always a favorite night with the locals. Just a couple of very easy examples and memories of those days.

YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE ABV......wrong about me and the watering down.

clearly you have never been behind a bar in your life------next time try to back up your Claims with some proof Listen to your own advice.

Your a nice helpful person, ive often see you on here with helpful advice so i really don't understand your persistence in this, once again Thank You for correcting me, now please stop accusing me of stuff i never said.

  2. Sorry but you cant get away with that claim as I have never seen any lager sold that was under 3.8% in the last 24 years working at festivals.
Every bar and every Pump is checked by weights and measures before any bar opens for the first time and they would close down any bar if it was discovered that the ABV is anything other than quoted.
Most bars are connected to large tankers that are sealed by Carlsberg so trying to water down any Beer would be crazy as the meter on them would register more Pints than the tanker is able to carry and I am sure Carlsberg would want to know how that was possible
+ even if it was not noticed it would mean the WBC was charged for adding water so there would be no advantage by doing so.
There is no way would any WBC staff risk being arrested for fraud as there is no bonus for selling more drink than they actually did sell.
if its Carlsberg then its 3.8% ABV if its Carlsberg Tuborg then its 4% ABV - lists below is from 2012 and you can clearly see the ABV.

  3. I might add having re read my first post that this was just my theory, and not, as could be construed from my first post based on any facts whats so ever. Apart from the very low ABV.

  4. Fair point. Plus anyone can bring in whatever they want, be that Stella, K Cider or Buckfast, so if it was to avoid aggro then they'd do something about that surely?

Back OT, the only reason we buy at the bars is logistics/temperature and once we've had a few cans of something decent, the watered down stuff at the bars is tolerable. Just don't think about the cost!

  5. Not sure about that manateemike. They publish (by law) the ABV of drinks at the bars and watering down is illegal. I'm not naive enough to think it doesn't happen, but I doubt GFL and WBC deliberately and consciously take the decision to break the law just to avoid drunks getting lary.

I just think that the methods necessary to satisfy mass consumption in what is a farm don't make for a nice pint. The Cider Bus/Real Ale bars have less demand so do a better job of treating the product properly.

  6. The reason the beer is weak is so the festival doesn't turn into the average town high street at kicking out time with a bunch of piss heads who cant control their intake spoiling it for everybody else. Having said that the cider does somewhat disprove my point.

The bar beside the Acoustic had a different selection last time, I'm sure i got a pint of San Miguel there.

I hated the Tuborg beer as much as the next person but not anyway near as much as i hate being amongst drunk tossers trying to prove how hard they are by threatening or intimidating whoever happens to look their way.

  7. People in front of us last time had one 8man ish and 5man ish tents (plus area fenced off for eating) with camper van. Their tents took up the space of two CV's, but no one seemed bothered.

  8. I can remember watching bands on the Pyramid stage then wandering over to a stall an hour later and buying a cassette of the set i had just seen. Still cant find my Pixies tape.

Btw how rude of me not to say thank you for the link, i wasn't aware it was there.

  9. I'm not aware of these Bootleg Beatles, to be honest I never ever bother with tribute bands at all, once went to see The Smyths and didn't see the point despite the fact I'm an enormous Smiths fan. However I can somewhat see the appeal of Beatles songs live in the sunshine at Glastonbury, if they're really worth watching, so are they?

  10. I have it on good authority that Mutoid Waste, the guys behind all the structures at the Unfairground, are also doing something with the pyramid stage this year. No idea what that might entail but interesting nonetheless..

  11. There is more than enough to do in the Kidz Field. My boy (now 11) spent every day fully entertained in there. If he was having fun then i was !! In fact 2011 i only managed 9 bands, walking and exploring around the site with him was fun. The circus field is a must do with kids as well.

The main family camping field (near kidz field) was full Wednesday evening according to the site map by the gates when we arrived. (stayed in campervan, so cannot help with alternative)

Just looked on National car rental website and in T&C its says "Drivers must present a full valid national licence at time of rental, which must have been held for at least 1 year prior to the rental checkout."

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news....good luck though. Your child will love you forever.

  12. We have used the CV fields last few years, never saw any measuring of vehicles. They were interested in tickets and glass containers on board. Each time when we have parked up we were asked if we wanted room beside us to pitch a tent/awning. Mind you i was not driving a 8m motor.

What you should be considering is the driving of it on the roads. If your only used to car driving then this will be fun, not only the length but the width. Those nice Somerset country roads are going to feel mighty small .

If you can, ask for a taster drive so its not such a shock on the day of the festival. Their easy to drive but you just need a new sense of width perception.

Enjoy...........and don't lose the keys :banghead:

  13. I'm booked via www.camperbug.co.uk

It takes a sizable chunk...approx £70 on top of what the owner wants to charge. More frustrating was the owner had a website, it just hadn't come up in the first few search pages. Best thing is the owner is just up the road from me.

Abacus have a hire place in Andover on route to Glastonbury down the A303. But they wanted silly money, well over £1000. Apparently Glastonbury clashes with F1 at Silverstone hence shortage of cheaper hire this year.
