Craig do you think hip hop started this decade or something?
Festivals have been having hip hop for decades.
-
reading/leeds already did the hiphop thing way before glastonbury with eminem in 2001. he's rumoured to be doing wireless festival so think that may rule him out r&l because I think any festival able to get him ain't gonna share. Jay-z prob won't headline the other day at wireless because it normally does one hiphop day and one dance day. this year they added an extra day, prob gonna be a pop day seen as pink and ting tings confirmed. black eyed peas have done r&l as well headlining dance stage in 2000
gorillaz got new album out they could be a possibility and would be something different

I think it could be Jay-z. two bands I think will be same as other festivals and one uk exclusive. Jay-z will not second headline anyone. he's headlined glast and his ego too big. he's amazing live seen him twice. noel gallagher is a good shout, nme subheadline or 3/4 main stage

I think kol and killers should give uk festivals a miss for a few years. I'm a fan of both but a long wi arena tours there may be pushing it a bit now. but as long as festival bosses are willing to pay them millions and they draw the crowds. kol may not have had there best performance at reading but they were flawless at leeds fueled by the crowd in my opinion.
festival republic manage glast I never said anything about them booking acts. all I'm saying is it may be easier for festival republic to book acts for reading/leeds in future years when they have already got there foot in the door at glast whether it be the whole company or just the boss

Just looking at other festivals like V TITP etc and comparing them to glastonbury, there are some that you could say they play glastonbury one year then other festivals the next. But Reading/Leeds seems to have a lot more than any other festivals.
Like someone said I think that glastonbury take a chance on artists that may not be a massive band at that moment they headline. Then the following years other festivals sign them based on there glastonbury appearance. I still think a lot of bands go from glastonbury to reading/leeds though

about ten years of coincidences there! I got bored after a bit so prob is more bands. I do agree that some of the bands just rotate but they rotate from glastonbury to reading/leeds. there is a tie between the two festivals. festival republic manages glastonbury and owns reading/leeds

From a tradition of getting glastonbury headliners I would guess for one of the Reading & Leeds 2010 headliners will be either
Kasabian (sub headliners at Glast)
Blur (if they ever do another gig, not looking as likely after comments from damon and a new gorillaz album on the way) if not blur then gorillaz??
Also can see The Specials making an appeance maybe sub headlining or headlining Radio 1/NME
Other bands with albums late 2009 or 2010, not all headline bands, but can see these at either Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds, Download, TITP or V
Noel Gallagher!! (Glastonbury second stage?)
No Doubt (TITP)
Beastie Boys (V?)
Elbow (R&L)
Linkin Park
Cypress Hill
Goo Goo Dolls
Blink 182 (Download?)
Angels & Airwaves (Tom DeLonge can only pick one band to tour with)
Amy Winehouse (V or Glast)
Velvet Revolver

just another way for seetickets and festival republic/live nation to make more money. bought some early tickets needed 3 tickets so had to pay booking/transaction fee and postage twice. last year it was meant to be 4 tickets per household but we had 12 tickets delivered to one house just paid on different cards. there is always more than 20 of us that go so gonna be pain in arse doing all separate transactions. so not only are the prices gonna increase next year gonna cost more to buy if you buying more than 2 tickets and then the separate postage

was at leeds and was one of best bands we went to see over the weekend. was gutted missed them last year but more than made up for it this year

you guys do know leeds festival was around before mean fiddler took over and decided to partner the site with reading? like I said earlier some bands will like one site to the other. but that could change from one year too the next as the crowd and atmosphere can/will change. everyone goes to a festival to enjoy themselves do they not? the bands are paid to entertain the crowd, why would they purposely put more effort into one site rather than other. only the band will lose out on record sales or reputation. some things are out of the bands control like sound quality or crowds

who do some of you people think you are? lords of music, music executives, even mtv or bbc radio bosses? why do you think you have the best taste in music in the world. face facts everyone has different taste. you can't decide what other people should like just because you like it. music would be boring if everyone had same taste. instead of sounding incredible arrogant at least say IN MY OPINION. anyway back to point the crowd may not have been into kings of leon, the crowd didn't seem to know the older songs. from what I watched on bbc anyway. I was at leeds and I thought they put on amazing set. I've wanted to see kol for about 5 years. the crowd were amazing and kol seemed to agree by praising the crowd and bad mouthing reading. some bands will have better experiences at leeds, some at reading. I would of quite happily gone to fnm as well. no good just saying a band is just shit or too mainstream. what the hell does too mainstream evenmean? just cos they got a few songs on radio. I hate people who won't listen to a band because they have become 'too mainstream/commercial' if you like the music listen to it and don't be a cock about it.
Does anyone know of anything ?

I thought v was more of a pop festival for girls? I may be wrong never been v. surely an indie rock band such as kasabian would rather do reading/leeds. suppose it may depend on money and tv coverage
