  1. If there is a ballot what is to stop me registering  using the addresses of everyone I know, before you know it I could have 100 different registrations entered into a ballot for tickets, it's not beyond the realm of possibility to do this. It would improve my chances in a ballot...
With the present system I can only try on a few devices at a time.

This happened to a friend a few years ago. Long story short he ended up somehow speaking on the phone to the festivals director of ticketing or some such title. He basically said he probably wouldnt be able to help, but that my friend could come to the ticket office on the day the festival opened and you never know.

My mate ended up starting a row with this director and swore at him and slammed the phone down, on the director! Madness. The director called back to tell him how much of an idiot he was. My mate went on the weds morning and the ticket office refused to deal with him. He drove back home after walking the entire perimeter of the wall, looking for a way in. That year there were first hand stories on here about how the ticket office had let people in who had lost tickets. I honestly believe it was because of his attitude on the phone why they were not at least attempting to help him, even of they wouldnt have been able to.

My advice is to try and contact the festival. They are very good at responding despite how large it is and how many of these messages they must get. I'd also risk going on the weds afternoon (once it calms down a bit) and going to to ticket office. They probably get a lot of people saying the tickets were lost, so to help show them you're genuine take as much proof as you can. Bank statements showing the payments for tickets, confirmation emails, royal mail tracking numbers, identification proving your address, a utility bill proving your address etc. You never know, it's worked for people before.

    Good luck!

By the sounds of that, the ticket directer was telling him that he couldn't do anything on the phone etc but if he went down they would let him in... They don't want to tell people directly, and they make it quite a lengthy process to put off the blaggers who would sell their ticket and then go down and claim to have lost it and get in anyhow... Like you say, they probably flagged him for being obnoxious on the phone. I've heard they will let people in with all their proof emails etc if they turn up.

I gave my ticket away once (I’d bought one legitimately and then got given a hospitality ticket at the last minute). The person to whom I gave it was 25 years younger than me (a friend’s son’s friend). He went to one gate and got turned away. Went to another one and got through. It’s a bit of a cliche, but from what I’ve read on this, statistically you’re more likely to get in if you go to a gate person of the opposite sex.

I've got in using other peoples ticket a few times since they had photos on them, the last time was 2015 I think, the original ticket holder was 21 I was mid 40's :-) You can generally scan the checkers and see who is checking thoroughly and who isn't and shuffle over to the non thorough one...

The photos on tickets has greatly reduced the touting, the times I've bought other peoples I've never paid a penny above face value due to the risk involved.  I've been lucky the few times I've done it,  obviously it's not a certainty though.

Never had a problem with security at Glastonbury except trouble that I have stirred up myself for a bit of devilment on many occasions, though not for quite some time.

One of our favourites used to be back in the mid to late 90's when I used to be an all terrain unicyclist. One of our costumes was Gerald The Camel, a pantomime camel that rode two unis at once. .

Late at night when Nico (uni partner) and I were Gillespied , we'd don the camel and go walkabout, on foot, not unis. We'd look for out of order security or bored coppers and start circling them from a distance in a sharkey/cameley kind of way. We'd get closer and closer then right up to the head honcho, at which point the rear end of the camel would start pelvic thrusting. We'd wait the see which security chap/copper looked to be the most disturbed by this then approach him front on. The camel's head would drop, zero in on the guy's crotch and then pretend to give him a blow job. Always got away with it as the crowd and the poor victim's colleagues would be almost wetting them selves with laughter.

No more up reps today unfortunately dusty, I've always enjoyed your threads like it started with a stick... knowing that you purposely sought out dodgy security and harassed them just increases your kudos even more hahaha:-)

got searched on the way in , that was a first for me

    they were really nice

no bother apart from that, I wonder sometimes if dodgy security challenge people on their own or young looking to get their stash

met a bloke in arcadia last year who was selling certain items (ahem)

he said he was doing his bit for the environment as they were recycled, when asked what he meant he said he was security and took them off some one the other day and was now selling them on

If anyone actually deserves to be grassed on it's the pieces of shit security who tax punters to sell on their drugs for profit, scum of the fucking earth... And I hate grasses...

If security ever try taking my stuff I insist the police are called, I'd rather go to court than give those c**ts my drugs :-)

OK, sorry, but I haven't read all this thread...only got home an hour ago after two weeks on site.

Nightmare boggy build and horrific conditions on exit.

Then folk complain that they were inconvenienced when leaving.

What do people expect when voluntary attending a green field massive event on a clay soil festival in a valley in Somerset? A tarmac road taking them mud and delay free to the nearest KFC? Get a fucking grip. A mate of mine did a 19 hour shift SUN night/ Mon morning towing campervans out. Lots of thanks and some grief from twats. He didn't sign up for that. Spoke to the site manager this morning....longest tow out shift on a tractor Sun night.... 26 hours.

Got a problem with the shit this year?

      1) Don't get a job as site crew.

      2) Don't buy a ticket next year.

      3) Fuck off.

well said :-) I was in a van, not a camper, in the normal car parks, waited an hour or so for a tractor so not bad at all. Given the conditions what do people expect. After the build up conditions all I can think to say to the crews is, fucking well done people cause we had a blinder :-)

Sorry this will be an essay but have to write my newbie opinion, even though we're 46 and 52.

We left later on weds due to the traffic news regards the queues, arrived to the queue at 5pm weds and didnt get parked till 1.30am so not a good start. We stayed in Tangerine Fields so already pitched and wandered into the site through the mud and walked straight to the railway line and sat and watched. Instantly fell in love withe place. We stayed till bout 6am and was joined by others who we sat chatting and laughing with.

From thurs to sun we managed about 25 acts from pyramid, other, west holts, avalon, acoustic to the park and rabbit hole. Highlights were New Order, Coldplay and even Madness who got everyone going.

Favourite areas were the Glade and Avalon and only once ventured to SE corner which we planned to do more.

Overall we loved the overall vibe from the crowd, the friendliness and willingness to help each other. Of course there will always be some dicks they get everywhere unfortunately but were the small minority.

Cant remember the number if times i gave out wipes or gave a light or beer to randoms and always so appreciated.

We intended to do so much more but the conditions put paid to that but think we covered alot anyway. We got drunk, danced, chatted and laughed ALOT!

Things i wish we had done was get up to the park and hill more, we didnt see JP, SH or arcadia and t&c fields.

There is always next year for that and to finally meet up at the efests meet.

We decided to get out after Coldplay due to the car park situation and after getting pushed out we managed to get back to Watford by 2.30 and showered abd in bed by 3am so have had a good sleep.

Finally like to say thanks to the efesters who have helped with advice yr a lovely crowd and just cant wait to get back to the place. Just hopefully will be a bit drier and easier to get around cos my legs are fucked now lol

Have to edit to say also loved ELO and Foals rocked!

I think you either love it or you don't, wet or dry, 2007 was my first year and all the rain just couldn't dampen the experience, luckily I've been able to go back every year since. Everyone finds it easier when it's dry for obvious reasons but even on a dry year it's not possible to take it all in...

  8. A faster internet connection means you can refresh more often so surely that makes a difference?

It is surely more to do with refreshing at the right time... If a spot on the system is due to open in say, 50 milliseconds and your super fast broadband connects you in 25 milliseconds you are not going to connect. A slower connection might be just right in that situation...

  9. Had this situation last year as had to pull out if my coach ticket. Spoke to see tickets before hand and they were definite that if your not on the coach you don't get the ticket. Says as much in the terms and conditions you agree too when buying a ticket

In the end I cancelled and was lucky enough to get a normal ticket in the resale. But would strongly advise anyone not sure if they can make the coach time they booked to speak to see tickets. Massive risk to pay all the cost of a ticket and coach package and risk not getting a ticket

I've heard from people who never even attempted to get on the coach, just arrived after the coach and went and got their tickets from the ticket office! See tickets will just give you the usual spiel about how you must be on the coach etc etc etc. The fact is the coach driver will return any unclaimed tickets to the ticket office and you can go and collect them... See and Glastonbury don't want you to do this so they tell people in advance that you can't, but you can...

  10. I'd call See - I doubt you'll be able to transfer to a different day but they might be able to cancel them so you can try again on Sunday, though that might mean losing the deposit.

Definitely no option to collect on site, you have to be on the coach or you won't get the ticket.

Sorry but that is wrong, what do you think happens to the tickets? The coach driver doesn't keep them... He will hand them into the ticket office by the gate on arrival for any no shows, they can then be collected by going to the ticket office on arrival. Not sure if it has to be the lead booker who collects or just the person whose ticket it is.

  11. I've got a campervan now, but haven't been in a position to take it to Glastonbury so far. As I'm not going there next year that experience will have to wait. Here's a photo of our ever so discreet campervan;

    $%28KGrHqV,%21okFGpRWW0GLBR0q1NhPqw~~48_

If you are wondering - yes that is a whole load of people raving with their hands in the air, as laser beams criss cross above them. I'm going for the double bluff with the police. I'm hoping they'll think to themselves ' there's no way somebody's that fucking stupid'!

your posts frequently make me smile YoG now your camper van does too... Is that painted or vinyl? Brilliant though!

  12. Must say I'm with the responsible tatters and have had a few very obviously abandoned tents myself and camped with a few people who had tatted tents this year. None of them nor myself are thiefs, we just took what was obviously abandoned by lazy c**ts... This year witnessed security coming through oxlyers stamping on abandoned tents making them useless for fuck all. Can see the problem of people wanting to wonder around the site and having their gear removed but this can easily be avoided if you really wanted to...
