  1. Maybe one for the controversial opinions thread but is it about time they just do away with secret sets? Just get everyone on the line up on proper stages. So many people miss out on good bands who could easily be placed somewhere suitable (case in point Paolo Nutini). Thursday's are also a write-off now if you think you can get anywhere near WG.

Just get rid of them completely.

  2. Not so much controversial but drugs and kids. Saw a group of mums and dads sniffing keys with prams and little kids running around by the other stage. I'm all for a little indulgence but surely there comes a time when you have to lay off it for certain reasons? The mum looked right worse for wear.

Trying to balance living your life with risks?

Why does anyone have an issue with someone doing a lateral flow before they go and see their loved ones?

People just making a noise for no reason.

I don't have any issue with people testing. It was more so the arguments going on in here with people on their high horse but still choosing to attend an event like Glastonbury, surely they can't be that concerned. It was inevitable a lot of people were going to catch something.

If you're ill then you should try to avoid other people anyway.

  4. Genuine question to people still religiously testing when it's just cold-like symptoms, when they have clinically vulnerable relatives to be looking after, why did you still attend the festival? Is that not deemed selfish? Tests aren't exactly reliable. A negative test can still be positive on a PCR. You can mitigate the risk as much as you like but still confused why everyone's so self-righteous on here despite all still attending and mixing with crowds.

  5. Missed him. Was gutted. Saw the posts on Twitter afterwards and thought it was a wind up. I really wish the festival just put acts like this on the main stage/line up for everyone to enjoy and done away with all this secret set nonsense.

Not testing not going to test, not going to help perpetuate another mass panic and media sensationalising this (as they already are, thanks to all those testing for that) that will no doubt end in more restrictions, more freedoms lost and more livelihoods fucked including many in live music..

Have a word with yourselves, many of you have got nothing but cold symptoms it sounds if that so why couldn't you just leave it at that? why on earth would you become part of the covid testing process again?

My thoughts. Nearly every festival I've been to I've come home feeling like this, if not a LOT worse. Just this year it has a label instead of festival flu.

  7. Annoyingly there was no sign saying Shangri-la was full when I headed down there to catch fatboy slim so was a complete and utter waste of a walk which I wish I didn't bother with. Saw the signs saying Temple full but nothing about Shangri-la so that would have been helpful. First time I've ever seen them shut off the whole of shangri-la too.

I was convinced Laura Whitmore was up at the sign on Thursday only to talk myself out of it thinking she can't be there because she's doing Love Island, then yesterday I saw an article saying she was at the festival.

She was definitely there as my gf spotted her. I had no idea who she was 😂

Only ones I saw was Ellie and Joel from Wolf Alice up by the park.

Agreed, San Remo just looked like a garage forecourt.

I missed The Blues and felt far too much of Silver Hayes' character has been stripped away this year.

Agreed. I preferred the old Sonic tent and the blues. Lonely Hearts Club was just a big lifeless stage.

Also the glad changes were horrible. Massive sound bleed spilling between the areas. Sometimes less is more, there's no need to cram a large stage in every possible corner when it just doesn't work.

  10. More often than not get ill after a festival anyway. 5 days of partying, indulgence, no sleep, mixing with big crowds, not eating healthily, breathing in dust - it's inevitable. Would never stop me going. I'm not going to test for a cold.

I feel like maybe keeping John Peel open (if that's even possible?) after hours for like indie discos, tribute bands, etc could help out. Not only would it give more variation of things to do, but it would also spread the crowds out more than they currently are.

The silent disco in Silver Hayes used to kind of solve this issue on a Weds/Thurs. I love electronic music but for just one night I wanted an indie disco for a change and couldn't find anywhere playing anything except for a bar between The Other stage and Pyramid but it wasn't the same. The silent disco used to to be the one. Does anyone know why they got rid of it? Totally ruined my Thursday evening plans.

We enjoyed Baggy Mondays up on Stonebridge but it was on really early, only an hour or so and couldn't get anywhere near the tent.

  12. Saw some people down the front of the other stage with chairs during Blossoms. I'm talking almost barrier.

Only dick head occurrence I saw was at Bicep when a group of about 10 people tried to push through next to us when it was clearly rammed and there was no way through. My gf had a go at the guy in front as he was like "just coming through" with a massive back pack on too. She said there's literally no room as another group had just come before them and still hadn't moved yet. He gave her the biggest death stare. Pisses me of to no end when people like us get there early, have a good spot then self entitled w*nkers think they can just barge you out the way and ruin your vibe.

Why you would have the Glade & Glade Dome in the arrangement as it is now. The sound bleed is truly terrible between the two. Shocking.

What’s with the toilets at the side of other stage… Slows everything down at an already over-crowded fest.

And when will they get the sound right at Arcadia, along with having food stalls blaring out their own tunes a stones throw away.

Agreed. Found this so annoying about the new Glade changes.

  14. Was there less compost toilets this year? It certainly felt like in the campsites. Is it really difficult to double the amount available? I know it raises issues with logistics and cleaning them but it's something so simple that would improve so much.

The random Pushchair being pushed through the middle of the huge crowd watching Bicep with very young kids clearly not enjoying it who should be in bed

Must have been stood near by. Not long after a girl walked in with a half eaten doughnut dripping jam everywhere, narrowly missing my jumper and the girl in front's hair.

  15. Would take that any day. Tiny bit of rain on Friday (iirc) walking to Sam Fender then the sun came out anyway. Bit cold and windy in the afternoon/nights but nothing a few layers didn't sort. Absolute blinder!

For Macca we managed to get right near the front, in front of the safety barrier, so no issues with flags. Instead we had some dickhead who brought an acoustic guitar and waved it around for the whole gig.

The flags don't really bother me (pretty poor selection of funny/witty ones this year) but I saw that guitar holding w*nker earlier in the day too at Kae Tempest. Literally, why? Surely that's not enjoyable.

  17. Avoided the cluster fuck at gate A early this morning by the sounds of it but no searches or pat downs. Was only asked if I had any glass.

Might be diff now but couldn’t see any vigorous searching going on anywhere.

Just arrived a gate A….pretty similar to others years, currently back to the 5 zig zag….the early car park opening hasn’t made much of a difference

    Phew. That’s good to hear.

Eek, why are the filling up the outer ones first?? Seems very unfair

It always feels so random (and unfair). I’ll be in the queue and they'll be flagging everyone in to Orange then suddenly as I roll up bam, they turn the other way directing me to purple. Every single year except once 😩 I think it’s the same curse when the lights turn to red upon my approach

Sorry to hijack... Question for the queue veterans...

It's my first time queuing this year after getting the coach the last 10 years. When you join the queue on Tues night / Wed morning do you take just your tents and then go back for all your other stuff once the tents are up or do you take everything in one go?

I never take mine in one go. If the queue is moving slowly and inching forwards it an absolute nightmare picking up your stuff putting it down and picking it up again seconds later. I go in with my tent and a bag of food/drink. Then go back for the main beer run later. Never had to re-queue. There's separate queues for re-entry and you just hand your pass-out ticket back and walk straight through.
