  1. To be fair to the original poster, it is the headliners that provide the immediate reaction to a Glasto line up, and, yes, there's no getting away from the fact that they're all old giffers this year - however good their reputation or kudo's they have garnered over the years.

We all know that Glasto is more than just the headliners or even any of the bands, but I think that the poster makes a valid point regarding a balance (just in the same way as Jay-Z was slagged last year)

Even though I'm going to be 50 this year myself, and am looking forward to all the headliners - I'd still like to see a few 'newer' bands there as well.

  2. Here's my 5:

The Smiths - The Queen is Dead

    Radiohead - The Bends

    Clash - London Calling

    Ramones - The Ramones

    Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic

And here's 5 that I've enjoyed more than any over the years, and have come back to time and again, but wouldn't be considered classics:

    Hawkwind - Space Ritual

Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous

Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American

    The Feelies - The Feelies

    Gene - Olympian

  3. It'll be my 4th Glasto this time, and to be honest it gets less important each time I've been, you have a blast whoever is playing - in fact its more fun discovering bands you've never heard of on some of the more far flung stages.

Having said that, its always nice to have that big Saturday night headliner to fall back on if you're looking for that big communal moment.....I suspect that's why Jay-Z caused such dismay last year. You can't go wrong with Springsteen can you ?
