Interesting take on things in the Telegraph

    To paraphrase:

Glastonbury has given up on rock – and turned into a children’s birthday party
Dua Lipa is a smart pick. But the lack of rock on the Glastonbury stages is a betrayal of the festival’s roots.

you have got a festival line up that looks more like something BBC Radio One and Two might have concocted for one of their jolly pop picnics, rather than an old hippy celebration of alternative music culture.

Possibly slightly harsh, but there certainly feels like one eye on the TV coverage with this line up

  2. Pretty grim mud levels I thought. Up there with Glasto 97 in my experience. The rain was relentless most evenings and overnight. Site was very quiet Sunday night for Grace Jones and again another deluge. However, some great sets amongst the carnage. Really enjoyed CMAT, Django Django, Sorry, Pavement, Dry Cleaning, Young Fathers, Leftfield, Teleman. Some of the science talks were great too. We were in Boutique camping this year, but the mud levels were awful there too. I think some blame can be layed at the organizers door though. The forecast was dire beforehand and there should have been much more foresight and preparation for that. Most measures seemed reactive rather than proactive and all the areas around the toilets particularly were a disgrace. They need to learn some serious lessons from how Glastonbury manage mud years

I think there is a second “core” clashfinder which is not this one, which may have 1 or 2 extra stages on it (science / kids, not music) but it should be good to go bar any last minute changes

Excellent - I'll probably wait until Tuesday or Wednesday anyway to print - travelling up on Thursday

What is the late night entertainment like at this festival? What time does it go on till? Some of the electronic music sounds like it may be worth a trek North...

Depends what you're after tbh.  The dance stuff goes on in a couple of the smaller tents until about 2am I think.  There's normally a late film in the science fields.  Usually have a couple of night-time parades, and the stuff outside the main arena goes on for a while too.  Not a mega late night festival tbh, but okay (if you're slightly older like me!!)

  5. Always been baffled that Bluedot and Latitude are on the same weekend.  Appreciate they're at other ends of the country, but I've had to chose twice between these now I've hung my Glastonbury wellies up.  Bluedot this year for me

  6. Haven't been since 2016, but arriving Thursday instead of with the masses on Wednesday makes such a difference.  Ok, you miss a day of wandering around, etc.  But it means you're still relatively fresh when the bands start on Friday.  Its worked for me for a number of the festivals, and I'm 64 this year.

Not much people at all at Lorde.

Always a tough slot before the Headliner on Sunday.  I'm sure the bulk heading for food and drink before Kendrick or PSB. She sounds good though

  8. I tell you what though, the UHD Coverage is brilliant on iPlayer.  We watched Sam Fender last night and were blown away with the quality of the pictures and the sound (only got a Sonos Beam soundbar, but it sounded terrific).  Kudos to the Beeb
