  1. been so tired of all of the will they won't they threads as none of the names have really pushed any buttons and really couldn't care less who is playing anyway to be honest - BUT THEN - i saw this and nearly dropped the laptop!

franti & the spearhead guys are the only group over my last 12 years of festivals, that i have seen bring together a crowd of people who worship them & a crowd of people of happened to be walking past at the time, to create one of the greatest party-loving, people-loving, atmosphere loving, boogie-til your pants fall down shows ever!

if they do show up they'll be the only thing to NOT MISS - coz we don't stop ;)

----looks like they are also playing Glasgow on the 30th----

  2. never been on See organised coaches - always just stuck with good ol' national express and never had a problem - on time, clean & no hassle if you're filthy! they seem to have a lot more pick-up points across the country than See are offering too. See were only offering from Brum when we got ours, but with nx booked our return tickets from Wolverhampton for £44 each (been roughly the same price for 9 years now - so either been ripped off in the past or got a bargain now!)

  3. 4 of our group headed over from London in one car on the Wed in 2001, which broke down just outside shepton mallet. unfortunately some ludicrous clause in the drivers recovery policy meant they would only take them back home (damn sight further to head back to London than to Glasto but thats red tape for you!)

anyhooooo, they got the car fixed early Thurs morning so off they trudged again - only for the bloody thing to give up the ghost after an hour! Out came the recovery vehicle again  to cut a long story short, after 2 attempts in the car and unaffordable on the day train tickets, they spent the weekend watching it on the tele with their tickets in their mits and a horrid feeling of disappointment

selfishly glad it wasn't me that missed out completely, but we did miss out on the weekend we'd planned on being 4 people down

moral of the story - do your car checks before you leave & check the smallprint of any policy you have to make sure they will complete your journey & not just dump you back where you started!

  4. Howdy :D have been following these forums for years and gained muchos amusement & handy tips along the way, finally got round to registering recently & at last have found a thread i felt obliged to post on - yay!

First time my festie mates & i headed to glasto in 2000, we had an inddy biddy stereo system with us & the obigatory copy of GnR Appetite for Destruction on late at night, following copious amounts of vodka & a nullifying game of sidekick luckydip.

Then from out of nowhere in the middle of the guitar solo of welcome to the jungle, a long-haired lovely hurdled over my mates tent, only to land perfectly on his knees with an arched back playing air guitar, looking like he made that kind of jump every time he went down the biscuit aisle in tesco. come the end of the song he stayed for a quick drinkee poo whilst spouting some crap about being in the semi-final of the world air guitar championships...blah blah

End result left us feeling in a bit of a whirl, struggling not to wet our pants with laughter & unsure for days if it was just the mushrooms - until we got home and googled it - no s*** we were in fits when we saw the guys photo on the championship website

and to this day and too many more festivals to count behind me, not one has ever come close to the hilarity of that night - but then again i don't think anything ever tops your 1st glasto experience - air guitar hero or not!
