  1. From Michale Eavis interview on TOS:

Do you need to sell all the tickets?

Bearing in mind we're taking out £2 million for the charities, we've got to sell all of them, yes. And, of course, the costs are always rising. Like the diesel costs went up by about 40% that year, which we hadn't priced for.

The ticket price has gone up slightly this year.

A little bit, I'm afraid. I do try and hold it down, but the girls doing the budgeting are so thorough and so clever, and they said, "Look, the minimum rise we can get away with is ten quid more". It is a shame, because I really wanted to hold the price.

It's never a question of you trying to line your pockets, then? You're not just after a Ferrari or something?

Ha ha! No! Do you know what, I asked the bank for a loan for £100,000 to tart up the farm because of the new farming regulations about not spreading slurry in the winter. That's driven by the European farmers, which is a good move, really. So we had to get a new shed to cover the farmyard, which cost a hundred grand. I phoned up the bank and asked if they'd lend me the money to keep the rain out of the slurry. He phoned back two days later and said, "We'll let you have £70,000". I said, "Don't be so stingy!" So, no, there's no fortune lying around here! But we're employing so many people and giving away so much to charity. We don't really need a fortune as well!

The car park tickets have also gone up, to £15.

That's right. We're trying really hard to get more people to come on public transport. And the car parking costs are actually quite high. We have to rent extra land from surrounding farmers and it's quite disruptive to their farm life, so they're charging me more. So we had to stick another fiver on that, I'm afraid.

  2. what about the cinema field?

ive never been to it, but surely if its got a massive double-sides screen )if i read correctly?in a field..that could be perfect for it?

  3. On the Thursday morning, I awoke to a girl who I believe had just arrived saying to her friends "disaster - you cannot get vegetarian food anywhere"!!! Where the hell had she been for food?? She must have gone the Aussie steak stall and then given up!

  4. This was my fourth Glastonbury this year and up there with the best. However despite going a number of times before, there are are a number of things I did for the first time, some good, some bad. What did you do for the first time this year? Mine are as follows:

    • Found the tunnel under the railway track

Went to the kidz field (which looked amazing) :(

Queued to get in, despite leaving at the same time as previous years :D

Spent no time at the Stone Circle :)

Started a mass singalong (to the theme tune to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air) :)

Ate some thai green curry flavour crickets

Smoked no marijuana at all

      Ran out of beer :O

Finally managed to catch Atilla the Stockbroker :)

  5. What a nonsensical rant. The festival has always changed and always will. If you don't like it, don't go. From what I experienced, it was great, yeah there were some problems but there always has been.

Lucy, you are the one making an issue by creating a 'them and us' mindset. What happened to everybody being in it together, creating a community spirit. The minute you state the youngsters are ruining it for you oldies, you are being entirely hypocritical and going against everything you claim to hold so dear.

  6. Loved them... absolutely superb. I was rolling in the aisles during Stone Henge! Was waiting for a Nigel Tufnell to give us a bit of Lick My Love Pump on the piano though!
  7. I agree, went along not really expecting much and he was very very good. I even got to dance with a randon old lady to sexbomb!

I love the legends slot. I always get to see acts that I would never pay to see in normal circumstances, but never fail to disappoint when I see them

  8. We were in the queue for Ferris Bueller's Day Off outside the Cinema. My bf went to the front of the queue as it was very late starting and he wanted to see if he could find out why.

The bloke he asked said 'I don't know but did you know that Michael Jackson is dead?' My bf obviously looked quizzically at him and he replied 'you don't believe me do you but you'll always remember where you were when you heard it'. By the time we came out of the film, the joke texts had already started arriving from friends not at the fest :P
