I was going to say something nice about it's always a testamount to the professionalism of the set up of EOTR that so little ever leaks out until they want it to. But then you slagged the National so thank your stars I didn't meet you in the campervan park after dark to box yer ears in young man

hehe, fair point. kept an eye out for you over the weekend, but alas to no avail. You enjoy yourself?

  2. The 'special relationship' with the festival thing is, I reckon, often overstated. Decent sized acts might not get a sniff of where's available or where they're playing before it's been through promoters/management etc. If the money isn't there, a  might not even know they've been offered EOTR unless Simon has the lead singer/guitarist/drummer's brother's phone number.

That's why I think the Wet Leg thing was a genuine coup/one off, and also why there was a real lock down on this, with no real leaks right up till the very end. Simply because I think it didn't go through all the normal channels.

Also, can I just say f**k Suede/Ash/James, and indeed, The National.

  3. Hands down the cultural phenomenon of our age. Glastonbury should move heaven and earth to get her. Would undoubtedly be the most important booking in the history of the festival. Slightly above Orbital in 94 and Radiohead 97. A cultural force at the height of their powers. Not a legacy act (and thank f**k for that - we don't need any more hoary old acts headlining who wouldn't have given the festival the time of day 30 years ago), but both hugely commercially and critically successful. Exactly 100% what the festival should be about. Worth a million Fleetwood Macs/|Springsteens/Pearl Jams whoever.

A banal observation, maybe,,but no less true for that.

Hopefully not the ?? on the lineup

Could definitely see it being them. I reckon them (Wet Leg) or FWF are the level we're looking at.

Happy with either of them, and obviously while I would love it to be some of the more outrageous names bandied about on this thread (TayTay warm up gig, anyone?), but it's all about managing expectations for now, and not getting carried away.

  5. I heard the people running the cider bus were *insert scurrilous rumour here*, and the reason they're probably not coming back is because last year EOTR Simon personally *insert even more scurrilous rumour here*

To answer my own question, I am happy to confirm that the Cider Bus will indeed be in situ this year. I fired them off a quick email this morning and they confirmed that they'll definitely be there. Phew.

Woah, hold on now, I know you're new here, but you can't be bringing facts to a discussion in this place. There could have been 15 pages of argument, counterfactual hypothesis, schism, people calling each other c**ts and all sorts. Instead of which you 'fired off an email' and got an answer? I mean, really, I just don't know.

Gutted to miss this tour.  Couldn't make the re-arranged date (though seeing Lana was some compensation).  One of my favourite bands and not seen them for 5 or 6 years...

Funny band. Ask me to name my favourite bands and they'd never be at the forefront of my mind, but I've got say, I dunno 9 or 10 records and always think they're great when I listen/ see them.

  8. Belle & Sebastian at the Roundhouse. Fantastic gig. Stuart Murdoch has, over the last decade turned into one of the great frontmen, full of charisma and swagger  -  a continuation of the process that we saw at that magic late afternoon Glastonbury Other stage set a few years back. Was really unsure about going to this, trip up to London on a Monday night etc, but left the gig buzzing and grinning from ear to ear.

If there's 50 thousand people queuing for a stadium there's bugger all chance the folk checking tickets will be doing ID checks.

Yeah, reckon they’ll only check the panic-bought posh packages

Well, it appears we're now doing campervan for the first time. What's the field like? How big are the pitches? there's four of us and it will be tight in the van so we're gonna need to throw up a tent outside for the latest back to sleep in

Sorry bud, been away at Pohoda.

Two sizes of pitch, usually, with different pricing, but we always pitch up a tent (or two) and it's not an issue (dependent on tent size, obviously). Been in the campervan field every time (getting on for 9 or 10 times, I'm guessing) so HMU if you've got any specific questions.

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm not bougie enough to have a campervan, but my friends are. And thus I can then hassle them to make me a coffee in the morning.

So they've just been announced for the Strokes day of APE. (Though I'd still be surprised if they're the mystery band, partly because EOTR and GM have never shared an act that high up, partly because of Simon's recent interview comments about how he doesn't like booking legacy acts unless they have something new/ongoing to offer)

hehehe. Would love to ask him what he thinks the Pixies were offering in 2022

Jeffrey Lewis definitely not playing as I asked him when I saw him in Rochester a couple of weeks ago.

Ooooh, did. you go to that? How was it? Desperately wanted to go but was the day of the train strikes so couldn't get there. Saw him in Margate a few days earlier. Did one of the best versions of Roll Bus Roll I've ever seen him do.
