  1. Hi.

Thanks for the reply ;-) She is 10 years old. I know it is silly, but some websites say that she need a ticket, others do not. I just dont want to turn up and find out she is turned away. Are you sure she definitely does NOT need one.

    Many many thanks ;-)

  2. There is a thread for Shambala, look under Shhhhhhhhhh

Anyway in answer to your questions, There's plenty of camping space with water points easily accessible. I'd recommending arriving the second the gates open not cos it's a mad rush to bag a good spot but cos it's the best festival I've been to and you wouldn't want to miss a second of it. The toilets are very good, they have a few composters and the rest are the usual festival fair but they're cleaned regularily and most people respect them if you know what I mean. Bar prices are fair, they make their money on the bar sales but allow you to bring in your own alcohol (just no glass) but without sounding like a hippy I'd recommend you do use the bar cos it's a lovely festival and it helps them keep going. I've never seen any searching going on but they don't want glass on the site and might randomly look for that, anything very small that you wouldn't want found would most likely be safe. Police? what Police? They are a very family friendly festival so if you're worried about the police cos you are going to be up to no good, give this one a miss as there'll be plenty of stewards about and I know they will call the police to the site if needed. They called the police out last year cos some ar*e was being a tit. Food is only fair but prices are okay, there hasn't been a big choice in the past.

Shhh is a lovely friendly festival with a real happy chilled vibe. If you go with love and peace in your heart you'll love it. By the way make sure you take a fancydress outfit for the Saturday night or you'll regret it. Maybe see you there :P

  3. couldnt find a thread for this 1?? heard about it in the que 4 secret garden party a few years ago. thinking of checking this out this year with some friends but have a few qestions, is there plenty of room in camping fields? would u recomend arriving on thursday? wot r the toilets like? bar prices? can u take some of your own booze in? do they search your bags? is there a big police presence? food prices? :):O

  4. Fat Freddy's Drop are down as confirmed now, but I couldn't see them on the website. Is this definitely right yeah? Just because I want to be able to tell people and don't want to let them down if it isn't 100%. Thanks! And I think this has made up my mind that I'll have to find a way to go...
  5. why not compare it to Glastonbury - size wise it's about the same as the Greenfields and the 'energy' is pretty similar to that area i would say

the only seering energy at glastonbury you get is if you rush around all today from stage and stage - and the fact there's about 30 times the amount of people there

  6. So....third time and get more out of it every year, no problems getting through the gates at 3pm thursday - no bag search - just a friendly welcome. Lots of space to set up camp - and from what i saw there was the perfect amount of space for 6,000 people.

Reading facebook groups a few 'stalwarts' had problems with security, amount of people, and well compelled to leave on Saturday. I felt/saw no problems along these lines, and i guess some people are upset it has become as successful as it is. But i hope it doesn't get bigger - but wld understand if it did.

Apparently one guy was heavily beaten up by security at 6am sunday near fish seeks bicycle, and taken away - but that's just hearsay.

Music wise Bonde de Role, The Whip, Fenech Soler, Autokratz, INFADELS, Late of the Pier, Alphabeat, The Correspondents, Beardyman, Esser, Wave Machines, Lykke Li, Alex Metric, were all great from what i remember! The music at the silent disco was a bit poor though.

Seemed to be less choice of food than normal on the music side of the lake, and the drinks price sldn't rise any more - though it looked like you cld bring booze in more easily this year.

Fantastic weather - though morning sleep was impossible! - Booking my early bird ticket this month when they go on sale!

It’s with great pleasure we can announce that tickets for 2008’s Secret Garden Party festival will go on sale as of 1st February 2008.

They will be priced at £125 for a ticket. This price is all inclusive - no extras for booking charges, car parking or campervan pitches! Tickets will be available through the Secret Garden Party website at www.secretgardenparty.com along with youth tickets for the 14-17 year olds (accompanied by an adult), priced at £100. again… all inclusive. And as always, under 14’s are completely free when accompanied by an adult.

The Secret Garden Party is conceived as a four day party like no other, a place where imagination knows no schedules or boundaries. It is founded on creative participation of all kinds, whether that’s performing Shakespeare round the fire circles, staging a custard pie battle on the lake or building the sculpture of your dreams. It is an Arts event, with ticket monies spread evenly between musicians, actors, installation artists, healers and public performers. Most importantly it is a party where everyone has the chance to get under the spotlight, from the headline Main Stage act to the hula hooping eccentric in the setting sun. The Head Gardeners would not have it any other way.

This July The Secret Garden Party will be exploring the Revolutions of Past, Present and Future, from the physical through to the conceptual. We will be asking all Gardeners to stage their own revolutions, devolutions and evolutions bringing the Garden to life with parades, music, sculpture and theatre.

Happening once again in its stunning location in the East Anglian countryside, near Huntingdon, the event will have an array of the best up and coming artists performing alongside some bona fide legends; and many celebrated on-site shenanigans for which The Secret Garden Party has become so affectionately synonymous. The festival has become notorious for championing the hit-makers of tomorrow with past performers including KT Tunstall (2004), Noisettes (2005), Hard Fi (2005), The Rumble Strips (2006), Lily Allen (2006), Newton Faulkner (2007), Reverend And The Makers (2007) and Metronomy (2007)… with this years line up looking to top them all.

    The Revolution is coming…

  8. You do need a campervan pass apparently - but if you haven't had your tickets yet, you can contact them asking for one. My bro had to ask for his pass cos I bought his ticket and forgot his campervan pass. It's free though!

I am really looking forward to this fest, but has it got anything like the stone circle at glasto where people stay up til sunrise playing bongos and dancing in a shamanic trance while spouting gibberish over special cake and mushroom tea?
