  1. I'd got one of the carryround holders for everyone in our group and they were very well received. They definetly allow a lot more mobility than the cardboard ones you get. Getting the pints out though was a bit trickier but we managed in the end.

  2. Went with District V right opposite the museum. The site says theres a bus that stops at madach square which isnt far from us that goes to buda bridgehead and then another bus from there to the festival. Anyone got this bus before? Any idea how frequent/packed it is? Any alternative routes using public transport to the festival from where we are?

Also as Glasto reduced me to a pool of immobile sweat I think I need to prepare better for heat this time around. Any advice on what to bring to keep cool? Any where in the festival that is recommended for chilling in the day time? I assume the nights are pretty warm as well yeh? Thanks for any info people have. I'm already starting to get excited for this.

  3. Wasnt it more of a Carling festival thing? It has just died its death along with whistling that awful 5,6,7,8's song and shouting "timmy"... let it go. Theres still the site wide general cheers of happiness to look forward to.

  4. I'll be on a very early flight from Dublin on the Wednesday and wondering if any of the Off Licenses in any villages we are likely to pass by on our trip from the Airport to the festival will be open. Likely to be 8am or so when we set out from the Airport. Any recommendations of any good ones?

  5. Got trapped in Greenfields/Jazzworld while hungry last year. Not only is there Vegetarian food... IT IS THE ONLY CHOICE in this area of the festival. Wandered for a good 40 minutes looking for meat before caving to some chilli that looked kinda mincey (but was actually quorn I think). Meat eaters beware!

  6. I've been stupidely putting off buying Sterling in the hope of a return to the near parity of the new year however looks like things are returning quickly to their original ways. Graphs here (finally a use for Wolfram Alpha) and a relevant article here. I'm feeling like bitting the bullet and buying my Sterling today in case things get worse. Any financial types have anything to offer.. there are possibly two or three pints of cider in the balance here!

  7. Losing pretty much everything in the Pennards flood in 2005 was at the time a pretty awful experience but by Sunday I was having a ball again. 2007 upset me more because it was the largest group of people I knew who'd ever travelled over for it and most of them would never come again as a result of the weather. From 14 people only myself and another returned in 2008. Lots of jealous glares when I ran into any of the others for a few weeks after that.

  8. There is a theory that a lot of hangovers are from badly washed glasses in pubs so that could be it. I reckon also people eat more frequently when drinking in Glastonbury which helps and also being out in the fresh air is a big one too.

  9. I had my team in 2007 give out to me because I WOULDN'T skip the queue (I had 3 other persons tickets including my own under my name). For my honesty we got stuck behind a horse caravan on the way back from Bath and West and cost us 2hrs of festival as a result but principles and all that.

On topic though there should be a lot less queuing as See finally have sent tickets out to Ireland this year so that should free up a little bit of the congestion.

  10. You know considering Glastonbury is meant to be the festival with the highest level of tolerance I love all these threads that pop up giving out about minor things that other festival goers do that gets on peoples nerves and the strong wording that goes with them. This may be a radical idea but if someone is annoying you by their behaviour perhaps move away from them? It is a massive festival. It might be more in the spirit of Glastonbury than suggesting they have their umbrella rammed up their arse.

  11. I have to wonder if this is some kind of April Fools for "lets see where we can convince people there is a psytrance festival". They always pop up in the oddest locations but Easter Island takes the biscuit. Next year Im making a fake website for a psytrance festival on the moon and seeing if I can get people to go.

  12. Everyone enjoy themselves? I felt it was a bit more sedate than other years which may be me getting old and taking it easy or the new drink ticket system (boo!). The new vice stage was really nice I have to say. The lack of alternative to Neil Young was a bit cheaky but made Oneida all the better. Plants and Animals, The Mae Shi and Dan Deacon were some of my more favourite acts probably beacause they werent shoegaze. :-D
