Love the first LP.
People are slagging of the 2nd LP but the 2nd LP means wifey would want to see them. If I played her Homework she wouldnt set foot near the place .
There are a couple of the third that are ok, my 72 year old mum loves "Technologic" , not sure what that says about the band
I saw them in Leeds years ago and they were brilliant.

...oh yeah, forgot, Neil Young's A day in the life, for me, as well for the best cover
-
Along with Flo, I also had the displeasure of walking past when La Roux (!!!) were on.
-
I'm not moaning - it's all about personal taste. And I certainly dont underestimate the time and effort you've put into getting the bill together.

Didn't Q Magzine used to do a top 100 every year or two? It was always interesting to see how votes changed over the years:

Prince to me is a little like New Order. Easier to enjoy as a singles or "best of" artist. I have a couple of his records, but I agree, he hasnt made a consistent record since "Sign 'O' the Times".

For me its
The Velvet Underground & Nico IMHO the greatest album of all time, with Heroin being the greatest song of all time (this is the point in the thread were Neil tells me how bad they were live )
Years ago I bought a book from Austicks in Leeds called Rock Primer (it cost me a whole 30p) http://www.amazon.co...s/dp/0140464654.
Its goes through different genres, first explaining their origins then recommending first singles then albums. The punk section starts in the 60s and this is where I read about VU. I had never heard anything by them at the time but when I read the review and it said they were the godfathers of punk, I thought sod it and went out and bought a copy. Imagine my surprise when Sunday Morning came on
I absolute adore this album
also from the book I discovered BB King's live at the regal, so it was the best 30p I ever spent.
ps
Pink Floyd's greatest album for me is Wish You Were Here
and for Nick Cave its No More Shall We Part

For those still struggling on Windows 7 PCs
Click start button
In "search programs and files" type notepad
when notepad appears in your menu, right click on it and the left click on "Run as administrator"
when notepad opens, click "file" then "open"
navigate to "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc" then change box in the bottom right from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files (*.*)"
you will then see "hosts" file, open it and do the edit
Then "File" then "save"
HTH

think that was to do with R&L, probably wrong though

Neil, I have a real sense of deja-vu here, didnt you ban the TITP forums last year, or did I dream that ?
I sort of remember people starting their own TITP forums, which was basically all the people you had banned from here just slagging you off and not much talk of TITP
I agree with flip though, it would be better to merge all the TITP threads, I like to read about the little festivals, they are usually full of nice helpful people

I liked that the people selling poppers were also selling rain macs ?!?
What a strange combination of items to sell
BTW I saw no fights, piss throwing or cocaine use, but I did see a lot of adidas tops and kangol hats

Went last night (saturday), went by coach, we arrived early, so went looking for a pub. Only one we could find was Heaton Park which had food stalls & a DJ, £3 to get in then when in it was £4.50 a pint and out side bar that ran out of all draught beers (at the same time?) and started selling cans at £4 a pop (which they opened), you should really avoid that pub.
We thought the supports were poor, beady eye had a couple of good songs, and everyone loved the oasis covers
IMHO the roses started strong, then it went a bit flat for a few songs, but fools gold was unbelievable, and for the rest of the set just blew me away, loved it
Bars were a joke but if you walked you could always get a beer without much queue (10 mins was the longest we queued), toilets had vast queues, but as fcum said there was un-signed posted urinal areas (the big red things next to the toilets), and there was a couple of toilets in the pit area
Food was the usual fare, except we all had 6 small spring rolls for £2 which we though was excellent value, but my lads mate threw up nearly straight after eating them, me & my lad was ok though, so you pay your money and take your chance
Mudwise, I had walking boots on, but my lad and his mate had trainers on, but it wasnt that bad. The pit had a mat down, and the only muddy bit was in the urinal areas, but the lads were ok.
Great day though

Seun Kuti - Last years "From Africa With Fury: Rise" is a cracking LP
Ziggy Marley - Again really enjoyed last years "Wild and Free" LP
Lee "Scratch" Perry - Do we need a reason ?
Asian Dub Foundation - A band I keep missing
-
I have been wanting to see Kid British (Fri) and Dirty North (Sun) for a while now...so obviously with my luck I ended up with Saturday tickets
The only bands I'm not bothered about seeing are Plan B, Prof Green, Hollie Cook & Beady Eye (you may have spotted that 3 of the 4 bands are playing Saturday )
Having said that I saw some footage of Beady Eye the other night and they wasnt as bad as they have been before, and I believe they are going to be playing Oasis stuff this tour, so they may be ok

He may not have had a hissy fit, but he was very crap!
-
Ignore me, having a bad week! [Would have added a smiley to it but functionality lock-down here means they don't work]
-
Out of interest, does anyone know what The Damned's set list looks like these days? I went to see them a few years back and was gutted that they didn't play anything at all from their mid-to-late 80's back catalogue

Can we not have talk about mud, snow, rain etc, Its going to be sunny, trust me , so back at the ranch....
If anyone is still in doubt about Adam Ant, try listening to "B-Side Babies", dug it out* over the weekend to listen to and wow what a great record, and he plays quite a bit of it on his current tour.
I picked it up cheap at a car boot a few years ago and never really listened to it in full...that was a mistake, some great tracks on there, I think its on spotify so give it a go
*Since digitizing all my records "dug it out" involves typing "adam ant" into foobar, dont you just love technology

Been playing a lot of Dirk Wears White Sox...
-
they are worth a watch if you see them again, Amazing for the bit I saw and best of last year, shame they were not a slot higher up.
-
I'm giving this some serious thought but can't really afford it. Can someone please post something negative about the festival to put me off?
-
I am still trying to work out how different a festival of 3k people will be to one of 200k.
-
