The first time he was booked at PKP (can't remember the year, possibly 2016?), he didn't turn up for his set and no one from the organisation had heard anything? Remember speaking to one of the guys and he was like, 'yeah, we don't know where he is and we haven't been able to make contact?'

He finally arrived the day after he was supposed to play and said that he got the dates mixed up. They moved a couple of acts around and he ended up playing on a completely different stage - maybe the old Wablief? - to the one he was booked on.

At least this has happened early so plenty of time to get a decent replacement in.

Hopefully they won't go cheap as they don't need to shift tickets. Wouldn't have minded seeing Denzel Curry but not a massive loss.  Someone like Johnny Marr or Viagra Boys would be good. Can't think of many like for like artists who could fill the slot, although I'm sure there are some. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tom Grennan shifted to the Marquee either and maybe a smaller rap name announced for the DH

  2. Intrigued about the Sunday medium/big name, someone 'very popular' according to someone on Efests, and doesn't sound like a forum favourite so I think that rules out Idles, at least for now. Probably a name for the younger crowd?

London Grammar is a good shout.

Noah Kahan is still available but hardly qualifies as a medium name anymore. Doubt his management would let him play under The Offspring. Would shift tickets though.

It'll be Oscar and the Wolf, or Joost, no doubt.

I couldn't really think about any other female headliners, so I asked chatgpt to create a top 20 female artists based on popularity in Europe and I added my own findings to it.

    1. Adele, too big

    2. Dua Lipa, does some big festivals, but all around early July and played in 2022

    3. Billie Eilish, played last year + not on tour

    4. Rihanna, not touring.

    5. Taylor Swift, too big

    6. Beyoncé, too big

    7. Ariana Grande, not touring

    8. Lady Gaga, not touring

    9. Katy Perry, only 1 festival in Rio a month after Sziget

    10. Shakira, not on tour but her album releases soon and she hinted at a tour to go with it.

    11. Sia, not on tour

    12. Lana Del Rey, As Leaks confirmed talks have broken down.

    13. Lorde, played last year

    14. Halsey, not on tour

    15. Florence + The Machine, played last year

    16. Ellie Goulding, 1 concert in april.

    17. Jessie J, only has shows in the uk

    18. Camila Cabello, 2 festivals in june

    19. Zara Larsson, Is playing some festivals

    20. Anne-Marie, played in 2022

I think from 14 down I would consider them too small for a headliner and three are just too big for festivals, Lana is out obviously and I think Billie and Lorde are out as well for playing last year. So there are only 7 options of AA+ quality in my opinion.

Pink, SZA, Doja Cat are three more I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more.

You may want to check the artists at the bottom I said I was looking forward to.

And are Idles and Mike Skinner black? I said both of those were poor bookings. Stop looking for something that ain’t there

Ignore them. Same poster accused me of being racist last year when I said I didn't like any artist using the N word. I was genuinely baffled at the time.

maybe the mysterious Paredes headliner then

Or Florence maybe? Whoever it is will have to play before The Offspring or they ask the Offspring to move down a slot. Difficult to do when they've been announced as subbing QOTSA. If it's the Marquee I suppose Rise Against could be moved down a slot.

LG would play under The Offspring.

Still find it odd they are looking for a big name before giving us more names. As I've said on the festileaks board, the bookers might be rewarding themselves with a name as they've sold out the weekend in record time, alternatively the Sunday sales might be that abysmal they are acting now.

Interesting. There's still a lot of big names touring and available who would fit, like for example Kasabian, The Libertines, Liam Gallagher, The Prodigy...

A name shared with Rock Werchter, like The Hives or Idles, is also possible but they won't announce it before July so ut doesn't make much sense.

Prodigy are at Lokerse, Libertines at Dour. LG or New Order would be good for me, not sure how many tickets they'd shift though.

As far as I know, no announecemt this week because they are closing a medium/big name for Sunday in order to sell the big quantity of Sunday daytickets remaining. All eforts in the last names booking are being done for Sunday even fighting with minor festivals like Lokerse, Alcatraz or Brakrock in order to book some bands that decide to tour in the last minute. I think that once that this name will be closed they will do a big announcement. But things are changing so fast in PKP HQ since the surprising amount sold in the 1st 24 hours, so let's wait.

    Solo or band, any idea?

dimension is equal, watched by monthly listeners on spotify. There is nothing announced for the tour so far.

Damien Rice - no tour dates according to songkick. Has 5 dates on Japan on his website.

  9. 'Thanks for buying a ticket real early, here's the rest of the line up but it's cheap and it's no-one you'll have heard of, see you next year?'

I don't buy it, personally, although I recognise there's less need for them to go out and book needlessly expensive bands now the tickets have sold out.

What do you think caused them to sell so fast, its hardly an absolutely incredible line-up. Any other social factors?

The Monday is a bank Holiday in Belgium, I think and I think it might not overlap with exam retakes either. Lowlands sold out again so Goldband (and CDW) might have been a clever booking to attract people who missed out on tickets for that, plus last year's edition went down well as well, plus its cheaper.

It's also a more balanced line up than last year and you could argue a better undercard so far. There's no massive single act this year like Billie but there is Fred whose hugely popular at the moment, plus I think people underestimate how many tickets Sam Smith will shift for this demographic.

Still unreal sales, given all the above. No-one saw this coming.
