Black Sabbath - 12
Rage Against the Machine - 16
Rammstein - 20
System of a Down - 9 (+5)And, yes, I saw them in 2011 and had a great time!

I did wonder if they'd suffer a significant loss of support being on the same weekend as Bearded. We would definitely have gone for some or all of the last Spring weekend - but we can't be in two places at the same time!
-
Depending on what sort of music you are into, you could look at Primavera Sound - Barcelona and Porto are both great places to explore during the day.

The Mish are one of those bands that I always felt that I should like, but have never been able to make up my mind about. It doesn't help that, on the couple of occasions that I've seen them live, the first time they were being supported by the brilliant New Cranes, who completely blew them off the stage, and the second time they were in the Pepsi tent, competing, and failing, to be heard against Metallica on Main Stage at Download! Still, I know that they have a very strong following, and that they are a very good booking for Bearded! And I will give them one more try ....
Really pleased to see that Neville Staple and P.A.I.N. are playing the other stage!

No mention of Judas Priest, new album out and US tour starting October.
I would have thought they'd be ideal Download headliners.
Oh please no - even Def Lep would be preferable to that!

Just been looking on the website and I really wish I was, looks great.
Same here - shame it's sold out ... (for us without tickets, that is, obviously not for the organisers ...)

I have a gut feeling that the first headliner announcement is going to be something a little closer to home than Flogging Molly - possibly one of the UK indie acts that's been doing the festival rounds this summer? Fingers crossed for The Beat!
Not long to go until 1st September now, and hoping to get me some early bird tickets on 6th!

Shhhhhhhhhhhh! You'll give 'em ideas ......

Am I right in thinking that two or all three of this year's headliners were in the bottom five of the poll last year?
So we're back to Biffy, Pantera, Van Halen, Kiss & Motley Crue?
-
Yep, that would be a class set of headliners - I think we'd be up for that! But, I'm guessing that this is just a poll of what the punters would like to happen? Unfortunately, I can't see the headliners being anywhere near that strong - though, I could be wrong ….
-
Perks, out of interest, where did you pick up the information about Flogging Molly? Have the organisers given out some hints on Facebook or somewhere?
-
Roskilde was a freak accident. The swaying side to side caused loads to fall at the barrier at the same time as an excessive amount of crowds surfers were arriving falling on them. It was muddy and there was surface water and the people underneath suffocated. Could easily happen anywhere.
But something similar HAS happened at Donington, albeit a long time ago and at a different festival .....
-
Flogging Molly headliner??? hope so
Oh, yes please!
-
Hi Nick, I may possibly be interested in these, if you still have them.

I didn't realise Download had a particularly poor reputation when it came to crowd safety? I've been to every one so far, and can't recall there ever really being a problem during any band's set.
I wasn't really thinking in terms of crowd safety, more in terms of the crowd having a reputation for being, shall we say 'lively' ... I've not heard of any serious incidents at Download, unlike with Monsters of Rock during Guns and Roses, but even that would probably be enough to deter a band with serious concerns about crowd problems.
Where Did Bearded Theory Go ?
in other UK festivals

I did feel really sorry for them at Download - no one should be asked to play at such close proximity to Metallica (and at the same time)! Still, I think Wayne could see the funny side of the situation!
