  1. I wouldn't take the rules on their too rigidly. My first year in a camper I hadn't installed cooking or washing facilities and they didn't seem to have any issues It was a van though and panelled so more camper than van at first glance
  2. Well done not comprehending any of the suggestions made in the thread. With that profile pic and your COVID posts though it seems thinking isn't a strong point
  3. It gets called for every year, there is no denying the system could be made objectively fairer. The only way I can see it changing is when the bias in the system no longer favours the masses (i.e. a tech trick comes in that is even more effective than people in large spreadsheets / people pay to use) then I'm sure, shock horror, people will suddenly cry foul as they no longer are the most advantaged group.
  4. Well this is fantastic news cheers, excitement building
  5. I don't see how "sold out in X mins" is an argument against a ballot when we've already talked about the London marathon. That's one of the most sought after races in the world and it's a ballot, it doesn't dampen the excitement or levels of people trying for it in any way. All I would like to see is something to limit large buying blocks from trying so the playing field is levelled, and a ballot would do that. Although to be fair, just requiring a login for the sale with groups of six to be pre-registered together and only those regs can buy for the other reg would solve it. (Assuming you can only have one login session at once it would also reduce the load on the servers)
  6. Does the beer line up change each year? Will look forward to it even more if there are options other than the big international breweries Can't find a list online of last years
  7. When do EOTR traditionally announce their lineup? Is there a headline then full release or just one announcement? Got tickets and looking forward to it as some of the past line ups (well most of them to be honest) have been fantastic.
  8. Here's some posts from 2022 when I did have a ticket. Just because some people have zero interest in a fair system, don't tar the rest of us with your self obsessed brush. I can't find my old account login for here to show older posts, but as I said my opinion doesn't change regardless of success or not. Now why don't you go accuse people of lying about their loneliness again you insufferable twat
  9. Didn't know you were a mind reader and a clairvoyant
  10. I find it amusing that people somehow ascribe luck, either by increasing their odds artificially or just by having more mates, to "effort" Everyone goes through the same "effort" on the day, if you get tickets it's not because you tried the hardest and deserve them over others. As for resale, there shouldn't need to be one of everyone pays within their 24 hour slot. Anyway I'm clearly in the minority here and people would prefer a system that was biased in whatever way benefits them the most so no point going in circles. Just something else I can chuckle about when people bang on about a Glastonbury "ethos"
  11. I think we have very different definitions of fairness
  12. Already discussed over the last few pages but for me, groups of six pre-registered together, closing the week before or something in case of changes. Add a requirement of pre-paying your deposits so your reg is valid on the day to minimise fake accounts (maybe even blocking the full balance to be honest) On the day/week, reg numbers are drawn and emailed a link to purchase/confirm valid for 24hours for those six specific registrations(just like this year's resale), back into the pot if not. Registrations are drawn until all places have been confirmed. I have been to festival 11 times now so not short of luck, but the system is not fair and in my opinion should change. I realise most people prefer the unbalanced side of it so they can take advantage, but I find it annoying to see so many new people attempting to attend each year be disappointed because they're not aware they should be roping in 20+ people to help them.
  13. Curious to why you think this wouldn't be fairer? Most people are fairly open in that the reason they don't want a ballot is purely selfish - it lowers their chance of success if they can't use numbers to their advantage. There aren't many arguments that show a ballot with proper checks would be less fair
  14. Random opinion. Fair means a system where everyone has an equal chance, as much as practically possible. It's been discussed at length on how the current system could be made fairer (unless you're of the opinion that large buying blocks aren't unfair)
  15. No less fair than the current system, those who can afford to could pay people to try for them now if they wanted
  16. In my opinion this thread would suggest it is happening. https://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/topic/250401-glastonbury-2024-main-sale-success-poll/page/4/#comment-6685782 While I know you're just saying it to be dismissive of my point of view, the bots statement is what I see as an inevitable future, the problem now for me are large buying blocks.
  17. Countered by requiring a deposit up front when registering. Most people aren't going to drop £500 to have a slightly increased chance
  18. I don't see the issue, if you get through you buy your group of six? If two want coach, book the coach, then the six can try again on general sale for the remaining four etc.
  19. A false equivalence and playing down of what's happening. There's nothing in the current Glastonbury system that stops places from being wasted as per your marathon example (ignoring the fact that going to festivals a lot should give you no advantage over those that haven't). Clearly being organised (unless you mean joining super groups) and mashing F5 doesn't cut it anymore
  20. Would not be as simple as having to pre-register your group of six, then require a login for the ticket sale? You can only buy for the group you're registered in
  21. This is the inevitable end. Personally I don't try for people I don't know I see no difference from you setting up 100 bot connections to online groups of that size, and clearly people setting up those groups have no qualms with it so it'll just be exponential
  22. I would consider them both online dorks. My point is that currently efesters game the system by having large spreadsheets for buying with strangers, regardless of if they later become best pals, but more efficient and wider reaching discord groups are already setting up, in a few years this will become the only viable way to secure tickets. (I posted last year about being able to pay on discord for what seemed guaranteed tickets and was basically lambasted on here, clearly it was more widespread this year, although some still seem to be in denial of the changing landscape)
  23. Out of upvotes but yes, pretty much what I'm getting at.
  24. Maybe they aren't self obsessed? I would much prefer losing out in a fair system, than losing to a bunch of online dorks that have the most efficient method for gaming the system, which is the inevitable end game of the current system. I also think it's bad in general for the festival to have an ever aging and jaded crowd bringing nothing new or fresh to the festival. (Efesters currently love this as they have been in their golden era with large buying blocks, although I suspect they've been beaten in the last year or two by discord groups as the younger generation get interested in the festival and interested to see how opinions shift when they begin to be on the losing end)
