My whole comment was based on the question, "If you could move your flights from june to august for no additional costs would you do it" and the answer from someone else "If I could move my flights with no cost I’d do it in a heartbeat".  One person asking a very specific question about moving flights now, and another person answering them that yes, if you can do it.  The question wasn't about booking rooms (something i did), but moving your flight RIGHT NOW to a date that is based on people here guessing, and that is all.  Some here are 100% sure that the rooms are booked by artists - great, lets say that is true, but what if it is a "soft book" like what we've done here, and if they change the date internally they will release their booking?  At this point NONE OF US is 100% certain of any date.  Shoot, i'd guess even Gabi's team isn't 100% certain yet, although probably closer to 90%.

That is all, that is what my initial comment was based on - a very specific question and answer above and my thoughts on why it would be dumb to move until you were sure.

Aye, that person was me  - I might as well move, just on the off chance the August date is right. I’ve literally got nothing to lose. It’s not dumb.

also, it’s a hypothetical question - “if you could, would you?”

    yes, I flipping well would.

this doesn't make sense to me to move flights at all right now...where are you moving them to???  The only thing that is almost 100% true is it isn't happening in June.  That's all.  So to try and guess when it will happen and move flights seems sorta random to me.  I understand that is the biggest pet peeve for them not announcing anything earlier, not knowing what to do with flights, accommodations, etc. but for me personally i have two options - try and cancel all of my bookings as much as possible, or wait it out until I know for sure where to move it to - that's all.  To make a decision to move it right now to some random weekend in some random month (apology to the person with the "insider" information) seems fruitless.

I’m not moving flights. I’m looking. To see how much it would cost to do so. There’s a difference.

So my investigations lead me to discover that if primavera is moved to the last weekend in August (for example) the cost of moving my flights (as in switching the dates) would be about £75 more than just buying new ones.

so whether it happens in August or never, my initial non cancellable flights are a write off, a loss.

I got a notification saying my final ticket instalment is coming out in the next 3 days. I would rather they announce something now because it's going to feel really shitty having that money come out of my account.

Agree - and I think that was one of the reasons Glastonbury gave for the timing of their cancellation announcement, to stop the next round of deposit payments going out.

    Same here, don’t really know.

On the other hand weather really shouldn’t be a factor. Barcelona is blessed with a Mediterranean climate. If anything August is too hot, later in the year works very well.

Yeh I’ll take any weather to be honest

There's still time to push back any provisional date a month or two. Doubt they have incurred any costs with the new planning yet.

I would be strongly in favour of them spending another few weeks deciding if this is possible. It might be the time that is needed to save the festival

    Oh for sure.

its just - with admittedly a limited knowledge of fest organising - it’s hard to know how many components that come into play. might it be that there’s literally only one or two weekends over a three or four month period that could be feasible - before you even factor in weather?

  6. it’s such a fluid situation, as people on this forum have said before - I don’t know how easy it is to organise a festival, but I’m guessing you need a date first for everything to operate around.

So maybe they went for the last weekend of August (sep for Porto) based on the knowledge available at the time/availability, thinking it would all be ok.

But now things have accelerated it might make that unworkable. Hence no PS happening in 2020 at all, and a reluctance to say anything with conviction so far.

  7. Genuinely my contact is 100% reliable and one day i will happily tell you all why ( he’s in a world of pain with CV19 and his own fest at the moment, without my foreign holiday plan queries adding to his stress)

    BUT

yes, it’s booked  - or soft booked, who knows. I guess we should think of it as a great hotel room we hope we’ll get to visit super near a festival we have prepaid tickets for, if you follow

  8. Erm, the whole point of my message a few pages back - which to be honest I’m mildly freaking out about now after everyone is booking rooms, etc - is that the reservation by PS for that weekend related to Parc del Forum and that being free. I hadn’t even thought about hotels and whatnot - but if any weekend was advisable to ‘soft book’ a bed for it would be that, apologies if that got lost in my eagerness but if you’ve all booked safely it will be fine

Before I do this and move the booking potentially pouring more money into something I'm now kinda downhearted about. How sure are we this postponement is happening?

Please nobody do anything that costs. All I’ve done is booked stuff that’s pay on arrival with the option of cancelling right up to the day before. I’ll book new fights once postponement is confirmed.

as I am lead to understand it, those dates are reserved by PS as plan B, but of course, plan B just might not work out - for myriad reasons.

Which hotel? Expedia are currently letting me move my flights free of charge, which is nice.

Nearest one to fest is diagonal zero. Princess is also good but I think there’s also a Hilton or similar just up the way.

You're a gem, thanks for sharing with us folk. Will do the same. Nada to lose...

You’re most welcome. There’s literally no guarantee they’ll make it work but the hotel we booked, near princess, was about £100 a night. To get those rates for the fest if it were May would be nearer £300.

our May flights were about £260, but to reschedule them would cost a stupid £300. So will just have to booms those again and take the hit.

    How reliable is your source?

It’s a uk music promoter. Reliable enough for me to reserve a hotel opposite the fest site (that’s non payable till arrival) that’s gonna treble in price if they do announce  a lineup worthy of PS has been achieved. Fingers crossed but obviously it could all come to nothing in which case we cancel the hotel.

flights however, are sadly a loss
