  1. Just been reading an article about the new album 'Build A Rocket Boys!'. Is anyone else a little worried about Guy's mentioning of writing the album with arenas in mind?

I love Elbow's 'bigger' sounding music. But it's always the subtle, slow burners, that make them great. In my humble opinion.

  2. Not a completely fair assessment, Neil. He is booked to play 3 dates at Madison Square Garden, and 2 more across the river at the Meadowlands in New Jersey . With each venue being about 19,500 that's about 100,000 tix on the market right there.

The first 2 MSG dates went very quickly and are some of the toughest NY tickets to get this month (well, apart from Jeff Tweedy's solo show at the tiny Bowery Ballroom earlier this month). There's still availability for the third MSG show, but that's in January, and after the euphoria of the December shows, I'm sure that will sellout. I failed to get tix in the initial on-sale, but I'm aiming to go on Saturday at MSG and am just being hopeful I can snap up 2 tix on the day.

The problem is the pricing. Unlike the O2 residency shows (one of which I was lucky enough to catch) he's gone a bit overboard here, with the $200 price range extending out into the 100 section. That puts me off.

I also think a lot of people were hoping to get MSG tickets rather than the New Jersey tickets (Meadowlands) which explains some of the empty seats there. I could have gone to that night's show, or Friday's but preferred the prestige and city location of MSG.

  3. i would absolutely love if Beck played Glasto

    such a hero

he seems to be pretty busy with his Record Club project at the moment so i'm not sure if he'll be touring significantly any time soon

    here's hoping though

  4. Saw him support Radiohead a few years ago, blew them away. Not difficult though, they were absolute shit.

Saw him again headlining in Dublin, cracking gig.

Id love to see him at Glasto.

  5. Firstly... where the bloody hell is he? He better not have dropped music for Scientology!!!

That said... i think he'd be great at Glasto with a greatest hits set. Anyone agree?

  6. I'd rather see them headline. Why not give them a shot at it? They have the back catalogue and the charisma to put in one of the all time great sets I think.

I still recall looking around the crowd during tower crane driver last time they played and I've never seen so many people shedding tears of joy.

  7. They could easily do it...They're the only act who have ever given me goosebumps from watching them on TV...Can't imagine what it would be live to actually see them :P

I always compare them to Radiohead, not in the sense that the music is in any way similar, but for the fact that not everyone is going to "get" them...It can take a few listen's to fully appreciate their music, and some people don't like listening to something that doesn't grab them immediately.

  8. Have to say our campsite, dairy ground (the only one left when we got there) was very downbeat. no chatting to neigbours, no crazyness... just people being almost grumpy. tried to strike up convo with the group next to us and they looked at me as if i was a potential rapist! weird.

i do think i lot of the younger teens don't get the glasto 'random' chat thing. to used to their V fests and readings. i missed the banter a lot.

on the subject of camping... a lot of people by midday on wednesday were so stressed about being able to find space. i lost count of the amount of people i heard on the phone to friends saying "no mate... no space... i mean it. i'm at my wits end myself!"

  9. I saw a sign pointing to 'Posh Camping' between the John Peel Stage and Pyramid. Does anyone know where this was and how to buy a space? I may wanna try some luxury next time.

I know about the tipis and off site stuff as it's on the official site. But this intrigued me.

  10. Was chatting to my mate last night and he was reminding me of just how much booze i had drunk. Ooops. I can safely say i reckon i would have had a few blanks without any sweeties. In fact... they probably perked me up and helped.

  11. don't get me wrong... felt great at the time. can remember coming up on it as soon as vampire weekend came on (who i was really wanting to see) and i felt effing great. i was drinking as well mind.

all i'm gutted about is not really remembering much. i guess i'm asking if this is the usual.

  12. so... this year, for whatever reason i decided to try my first pill. was from my mates and they didn't push it on me. i asked.

now... at the time i liked the feeling. but i ended up wanting more and when i did, even though i 'apparently' had a great time, i was wasted.

but what really upsets me is i can't remember anything from a couple of nights. glasto memories are the best thing to me. i feel really down that even though i had a great time... i cannot remember.

    is this normal?

    don't think it's for me.
