I've preferred every other festival I've been to and I've been to quite a few. But sometimes you just don't gel with a place and that's clearly what's happened for me.

This thread should be for people having a lovely time anyway, so I should probably back off!

    Enjoy all!

Nah you’re good. Everyone got their own opinion. I’ve been to PS since 2013, and eventho I still have a good time at the fest, it felt different and (way) less magical compare to the previous year. Would appreciate, if you have any opinion on other good festival that I can visit (non camping one).

I don't know about the brunch, I was never going to attend w2 so I didn't really bother following. But as for ciutat shows, they're indoor venues and obviously they have a capacity. It was known in advance. I admit that the length of queues (and how difficult it was to get in) was very surprising to me, but still, it was clear that capacity will be limited.

I think we are all aware that the space is limited. And I have experience queueing for a big act in Sala Apolo for Brian Jonestown. But the massive queue right now was happened in almost all of the Ciutat gig regardless of the performer, while in the past I have no trouble entering  Sala Apolo for performance like Bieyi, SG Lewis, Sea and Cake, the Beths, Torres etc etc. Somehow it shows that this year that PS oversell  the ticket with a “marketing promise” that at least the tix holder able to see one of the Ciutat performer.

I highly understand the massive disappointment of the tix holder.

I'm gonna try inject a dose of positivity for those going today as a weekend one survivor...

Most of the major issues were resolved overnight Thursday. They seemed to learn lessons v quickly in terms of bar and water access, and I didn't see any crowd crushes/surges like those on day 1 again (and that was the quietest of the three days according to PS)

Almost all the bands I saw were great.

Its not the festival it was five years ago, but nothing is. The crowds are bigger and so are the acts in many cases - but a lot of the charm is still there. Where else do you get to see Dry Cleaning, Dua Lipa and Bicep, all while sitting next to the sea?

There isn't another festival in the world that gives me that balance of music, weather and city access.

I had a great time and, while I will wait to see the lineup for next year before I buy tickets, I wouldnt hesitate to return if I thought there was enough for me to see.

I'm not discounting anyone else's views here - just thought I'd try offer my own too.

Have a great time this weekend, folks. I'm incredibly jealous.

*their comms is terrible. Always has been, apparently always will be... 😂

Yeah..I mean what really other option out there? (The non camping one). The one that doesn’t start early in the afternoon, chill ambience, good crowd, affordable food and bar, lack of security (I really enjoy the safe feeling of smoking weed, chilling and watch a performance) with good lineup.

I heard mixed review on Madcool but probably will explore that festival next year to experience other options.

Has anyone here looked up the location for Primavera in Madrid 2023 yet? I just have, Madrid sounded fine, but I’m a bit shocked.. Ciudad del Rock in the village of Arganda del Rey is a 30min drive from Central Madrid, no train, no places to stay near the site, nothing.. Summer Story, a really bad techno festival, takes place there. I can’t believe where Primavera is heading..

Wow, just thinking about to try this Madrid Primavera next year. So, you are not recommending this venue? How about Mad Cool, is it a good festival in Madrid with a good location?

A mate that is staying nearby said there's people already lining up for Interpol tonight. The queuing drama is now a self-fulfilling prophecy because people are panicking and getting there earlier and earlier.

It's a mess, and would be absolutely so annoying for locals having people clog up streets like this.

Frickin WoW.. might just give up on this Interpol thing. Probably just have a good dinner, few drinks and watch Gilles Petterson and its Acid Jazz friends

Back at work today so naturally having a nostalgic reflection on the weekend. Some thoughts from a first-timer:

    - Day 1 was utter chaos from an organisation point of view. Things I’ve taken for granted at other festivals (safety, water, overcrowding), I suddenly became hyper aware of. Nevertheless Tame Impala show was insane, Fred Again was magic and Big Freedia was a surprise I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as i did. Glad to be surrounded by some great people.

    - Day 2 there was definitive improvement and felt like i could relax into it. Beach Bunny was a perfect start to the day with King Gizz being my highlight. The National had me in tears (in a good way).

    - Day 3. Tyler, the Creator. That is all. (Also thanks to this forum that I made a point of going to Nick Cave, what a show.)

I wish I had food recommendations for the W2-ers but I literally lived off the delicious delicious hotdogs 😅

Overall I had a beautiful time and Im jealous that there’s another weekend to come that I don’t get to be a part of (my body couldn’t take it). Of course it doesn’t make me forget the experience of day 1 (and also know of some people who had really rough experiences with on-site security) but I can only speak from my own point of view.

Im already thinking about next year…

The Falafel and Meatball booth and La  Porca burger in the big food court area are superb

They’re not going to sell many VIP tickets next year, are they?

    Best just scrap it.

Yeah the VIP new setting was not working well, especially in the mid VIP area with lack of toilet and bar. I’m affraid they are going with the direction of American festival, where there are several classes of VIP area. The back VIP area (biggest one) allocated to “basic VIP” while the mid and front VIP area allocated to the “premium VIP audience” who able to pay very expensive ticket price.

Seen quite a few people get to the front of the queue and possibly even in to the venue and realise they were in line for the wrong Razz show so had to go to the back of the line for the other one. Gutted.

So, any special line for VIP and W1&W2 tix holder? Haven’t seen it in Barts

Will write further thoughts in the week once I'm a bit more awake but there was simply too many people here this year and some of the stages, and the way the site is layed out, is now very much not suitable: I gave up on watching literally every act I had planned to see on Cupro or Binance because of crowd and bottleneck issues. By overselling tickets they've made this all much more obvious.

Thursday was an unforgivable shitshow, Fri/Sat better. I had fun overall and Barcelona is a great city to spend time in, but I think for myself and a lot of people who've been before there's going to be a lot of hard consideration before grabbing tickets to next year.

Agree. Primavera still a special festival, and had a total blast  in the W1 (despite the shitty day 1). But this year seems different with the previous ones..where everything is seems so easy and chill. Can’t really explain in words, but probably I’m just too old for music festival 🙂. Let see how W2 goes, but seeing the influx of Tourist today in Barcelona, the crowd in W2 can be more overwhelming than in W1.

Anybody queuing for Razzamataz 2? Gonna head there now but would like to know if I need to rush or can take my time.

Any Info on Razzmataz queue would be appreciate (p.s: I’m not a 2 weekend tix holder). Does the application reflecting the real capacity on the venue? Really want to see Jamila Woods

  11. Gorillaz was surreal. I wonder whether they play the similiar set with the same featuring artist at W2? Fatoumata Diawara, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, MOS DEF, De la soul and one of the member of Pharcyde (forget his name) were already star studded, but would love to relive the experience with  a twist on the set list and guest performer.

i'm very glad to hear yesterday was a lot better for people, i was fully starting to go into panic mode, lol. hope tonight follows suit!

does anyone know if the coffee places stayed open later (i.e. past midnight) last night?

I don’t think so. Went to the coffee booth at 3.00 am (day 1) and 1.45 am (day 2) and they already closed

  13. Yesterday was a beautiful day. Positive ambience, chill crowd and of course wonderful music performance. Started my day with Beach Bunny, bough nomad and three marks coffee for long day ahead, continue with Weyes Blood, Fontaines, Beck (shed a little tear during Lost Cause singalong), The Amazing National and Caribou (who I thought a worthy headliner with that crazy ‘Sun’ performance). Can’t feel my leg and went home early (missing Mogwai & Jeff Mills) to avoid being cramped in Tram. But overall 100 out 100 experience. Can’t wait for today!!!

I’m usually one of the biggest defenders of the festival having had a superb experience year after year after year.

But they’ve messed up the basics. Right royally screwed up.

I can’t see realistically how they can improve things (eg who are they kidding that they’ll be able to get extra staff at no notice!).

I suspect they will learn from their mistakes, go back to what works and next year will be good again but already feel this year is doomed to being comfortably the worst edition.

The saddest thing that not everyone have the opportunity to go next year. This year fest is the only opportunity and it’s a frickin shit show on what they called as “the 20 year edition, the best of the best”. God dammnit I’m pissed off as hell

I sucks that you didnt have a nice experience last night. I have been 8 times (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019) and it has been my favorite festival by far every year. Fantastic lineup, nice athmosphere, not crowded etc. The lack of efficient bars has always been an annoying issue, but we have always managed, especially when we knew the tricks (which bars usually is usually less crowded etc). It has also been som hickups and lack of communication over the years, but it has just been a minor, almost charming Primavera-thing.

It got more crowded in 2018/2019, but it was still not an issue, and still the best festival in the world.

I really hope that they manage to somehow make things better today and for the rest of the festival. And that you get to enjoy the festival as it should be. Most importantly, that you guys do not feel unsafe.

Went to Primavera every year since 2014, in which I fell in love instantly. But don’t you think this year PS has different ambiance (at least week 1 day 1), feel unsafe, a lot of anger and negative emotion and on top of that Bar queue…not for alcohol but common water. I’m afraid this will be next astroworld

  16. While we had  a disagreement in this forum about artist cancellation, VIP setting (which is total shite.. my wife almost missed all SVE set due to drinks queue IN THE VIP section..good lord), etc etc. I think we all are agree this the shitiest Primavera ever. Artist still great, but Seems they just lost their magic and feels like any other shitshow festival

  17. In love with PS since 2014 and keep coming back. Nevertheless, this year is feels different. Band still good, but the ambience is weird, uncomfortable, scary..especially with all of high emotion in the queue (bar, water, toilet). Overcrowded for sure, my wife almost pass out during Dinosaur JR (eventho we stand in way behind from stage). And IDK,  a lot of the crowd is big A-hole, especially in the Tram home, where several British guys was elbowing my wife in order to get spot in the crammed Tram, and they laugh without even apologizing.

F##K, the festival that I love most is becoming shit show.
