    That's what I'm thinking!

When do they usually announce the lineup? Are tickets a nightmare?

Early Bird and Loyalty Scheme tickets went within a few hours at the start of September. It's not clear when the 2020 General Release tickets will go on sale yet, has varied over the years. Last year it was early December, previously it's been in March or April.

Line-up announcements don't tend to come until at least three weeks before the festival these days, which is rather infuriating for regular punters but this is the modern world we live in.

    No luck for me either.

Beginning to think about sacking Glastonbury off this year and trying something else like IOW or one of the ones in Ireland (handier for me).

I'm in a different position than most of you as I've never been to any festival so at least I don't know what I'm missing yet.

Picnic it up ye boy ye.

Ye boy ye, nice one! First strike out since '14, horrible feeling, like that dream where they fly through the window but it's Worf from the Star Treks telling you off about lack of discipline and martial skill with a blade.

Definitely big enough for Other now, they headlined Green Man, and played Ally Pally the other day. Could be a JPT headliner, I suppose.

Yeah that's true - they were quite low down on the running order in 2017.

  5. A return to JPT for King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, or will they continue their Grand Tour of Glastonbury Stages by moving across to The Other? Sort of hope not, would love to see them in JPT again (ticket pending of course).

  6. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard (Park Stage, 2015)

    Lizzo (West Holts, 2019)

Jeff Goldblum & the Mildred Schnitzel Orchestra (West Holts, 2019)

    Lady Leshurr (Park Stage, 2016)

(Also hello everyone, first post back since an unsuccessful couple of T-Days. Oooft. I'm not beaten yet, however. Hope everyone is keeping well!)

  7. The first proper album I bought (on tape, mind) was Genesis' 'We Can't Dance', which led me to work backwards through their back-catalogue. I didn't listen to anything else until I discovered dance music about a year later. I will without question cry salt tears when Phil Collins passes away.

  8. Can wholeheartedly recommend Electric Picnic Festival in Ireland, end of August. Tickets are sold out but it's possible to pick some up at face value closer to the time. Capacity is 57,000 as of this year, runs Thursday (with Early Entry Pass), or Friday-Sunday. Sunday Day passes are also available but a lot harder to come by at this stage. But who wants to go for just one day? The Body & Soul area is gorgeous, similar vibe to Green Fields with the stage set in a natural amphitheatre in a wooded area. There's also a stage in a forest called Salty Dog that is an old fishing schooner. Five large tented arenas and a Main Stage that rests at the bottom of a hill, perfect viewing area throughout the weekend. Have had so many amazing experiences there over the years from the likes of Massive Attack, Leftfield, Portishead, Jurassic 5, A Tribe Called Quest, Orbital, Bjork, New Order, Beck, Underworld, The Cure and all your comedy favourites! New dance village area being constructed for this year, plus late night rave opportunities in the forest. This year's headliners are The Strokes, Florence & The Machine and Hozier (although they are prone to extremely late additions - The Prodigy headlined last year and were only announced a few weeks before the festival).

An even smaller festival in its second year, based in Co Waterford on the south coast of Ireland is All Together Now, founded by the same folks who started Electric Picnic before it was taken over by Festival Republic. Again, tickets for this year are gone but you can still pick up tickets at face value - it's in three week's time though. Not sure what this one is like as this year will be our first attendance, but its extremely well-reviewed after the first outing last year. The National, Hot Chip and Patti Smith headlining this year. Capacity 25-30,000.

  9. Rest of the year (so far) looking like this:

This Sunday: New Order, Trinity College Dublin

2nd-4th August: All Together Now Festival, Co. Waterford

29th August-1st September: Electric Picnic Music & Arts Festival, Co. Laois

4th October: Andrew Weatherall, The Menagerie, Belfast

10th December: Primal Scream, Ulster Hall, Belfast

think it was Friday we saw a guy detained by security at the Pennards Hill gate going into Worthy View, just by Strummerville.  At first it looked like he was stopped for possession, but then he made a sudden dash for it, down past Strummerville and off into the Tipis or Stone Circle.  We couldn't see which way he ran from where we were, but it was pretty dramatic. Security gave chase.  Anyone else see this, or know what happened?

I was just back from a can run up to the tent in WV, about to head into the SE on the Saturday night around 1am. I took a break at the top of Pennard above the tipis and some likely lad sprinted past me laughing his kite off with security in hot pursuit. He tried his best to weave a path through the tipis but somehow worked his way back on to Pennard Hill where he was spectacularly caught. Took three security to hold him down.

Thing is though, as he was sprinting down the hill drawing security away through the tipis, three other people legged it down the path and straight across to the Stone Circle field. The lad was definitely taking one for the team there.
