Who else has concerts this week in London?

Bon Iver, Loyle Carner and Cradle of Filth.

Bon Iver would be an amazing booking (pretty sure he's played it before), Loyle Carner feels like a possible BBC Sounds headliner?, Cradle of Filth would be nice to keep it local and it not be about Ed Sheeran for once 😋

I'm not a fan personally. I don't find his music that interesting, so probably won't be there.

I would say I'm a casual fan, I mostly went because my partner is a big fan, and I would say he was amazing. His voice is incredible and he does a really interesting set, reworking his more popular songs to fit his current style. Was a great show. That said he'll probably just play all the hits as people know them for a festival crowd.

Also agree on Iron Sky, that was genuinely spine tingling last night. This version is my favourite of the live ones around.

  3. Maybe a BBC Sounds Stage headliner but PJ Harvey has an album due next year so imagine she might make an appearance.

Death Cab For Cutie, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The 1975 and The Pixies all have albums out at the end of this year.

After watching Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Brixton a few weeks back I’d be very happy with them on the bill.

Had a great breakfast on the way here from Two Magpies, thanks for the recommendation!

    Lush! Glad you enjoyed.

Agree Bartees Strange was excellent. Melt Yourself Down was absolutely unreal. Charlotte Church’s Pop Dungeon was brilliant fun.

Highlight today has been JOHN but f me it’s hot!!

  5. I've added The Listening Post on the clashfinder.

Times are all over the place on the app as per so I have just made each one finish when the next one starts, which on that stage is kind of how it goes, usually with a quick poem or two in the middle.

Hi all, looking for some guidance, first time camping at Latitude (and also on these forums!). I see it opens at 8am on the Thursday, from previous experience what time do most people arrive? Does it get really busy queuing to get in at certain times etc. And is there a good time to turn up to ensure a decent camping spot?!

Depends on your definition of good spot. If you mean as near to the arena as possible then be there around opening I imagine but I tend to get there around 1pm (after stopping at Two Magpies Bakery on the way. If you are driving and don't stop there you are missing an excellent start to your weekend) and don't normally queue to get in the car park, don't have a huge walk from the car park and have a good choice of camping spots in the quieter areas of the campsite.

This is all kind of dependant on what the map looks like when it comes out though cause they seem to be shrinking the regular camping more and more each year.

A great example of Latitude having a real "get" was Lana Del Rey in 2019.

Maybe this is why they stopped doing that, cause in my opinion she was absolutely terrible.

  8. I agree, the lineup is great for me. Only complaint is that most of the things I want to see are on Friday but that just means Sunday in particular is going to be a day of wandering around and seeing what's good, which is always fun.

+1 for Gaffa Tape Sandy and caroline. caroline are on in the theatre arena so I'm hoping that means they are going to play in the round which is always cool.

Porridge Radio are probably my favourite new band of the last few years, they've just announced a small show in Ipswich in September as well.

  9. I find it odd that Lewis is on the Friday, he definitely feels like a Saturday headliner when all the day ticket families are in. That said if they had done a Phoebe Bridgers/Foals clash I would have been very mad.

I'm happy with the line-up personally. I've got 16 bands on my list to see, which makes it £15 a band before I've done anything else. I'll take that.

Sadly I think it is wishful thinking,  but not impossible.

Personally I'm not sure there will be a special guest this year. If so my money would be on The Smile... but the latitude secrets often only come out on the day.

Yeah based on Thom having played it and Sons of Kemet playing it many times they seem like a stronger bet but yeah no obvious hole in the schedule this year.

  11. Possibly the most wishful of wishful thinking but Jack White is playing Union Chapel on 22nd July so possibly a surprise show on the Sat/Sun?!

I bought my friends tickets to this yesterday, as I had priority, so I’m mostly hoping it happens as I’m going to miss a very special show.

I'd like to see them bring back the Lake Stage for us musos. I think they removed the Solas as well in 2021, but to be honest, there wasn't much good stuff on there anyway.

I missed Solas last year, was always good for just popping along and finding something a bit different and the odd special guest appearance. The trailer park thing seems pretty pointless, had a quick look round it on the Thursday and didn't bother heading back.

  13. Happy with that. I rarely watch all the headliners so more than happy to watch other things rather than Lewis Capaldi or Snow Patrol.

Foals, Maggie Rogers, Little Simz, Manics, Modest Mouse, Rina Sawayama, Los Bitchos, Phoebe Bridgers, Fontaines DC, Maximo Park, Self Esteem, Bessie Turner, Gaffa Tape Sandy, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Porridge Radio, Melt Yourself Down. That's good enough for me for the weekend on the first announcement.

I remember in 2019 there was a very strange rumour of paolo nutini returning for a secret set. Heard multiple people claim to have seen him and then we got nothing. I think I recall Frank Turner doing a 'secret' set on the Thursday evening but I might be making that up.

Either way, sadly I wouldn't be surprised if we get nothing again this year.

Yeah Frank did a set in Solas, he was doing his podcast the next day, can't remember if it was a surprise or not

Will I have enough time to get from Damon at the Waterfront Staget to the Chems and still get a good position for the Chems? Or shoudl i play it safe and leave Damon early?

Yeah loads of time. Tip for the Obelisk stage. Always go in on the left hand side (where the Obelisk stone is on the map). The entrance into the whole arena naturally leads people up to the right hand side so that side is always packed but the left is much less busy and you can often just walk straight up to the front.

If i leave Bdrmm at the sunrise arena at 8 to see Shame at the BBC stage at 8.20 will I make it? Does that stage get busy or can you just wonder in at any time and get a decent spot?

    Yeah, no problem at all

I'm meant to be off to London this evening for Black Midi but with it being the 'first night out' back from lockdown I'm slightly worried about how packed travel might me on trains/ tubes. Luckily I've had both jabs but really don't want to catch it and miss out on this weekend.

Really unsure how to play it.

One (admittedly excellent) gig vs missing out on a whole weekend of music, food and other stuff. I'd definitely be staying home personally.

How packed is the tent likely to be for Hot Chip?

I really want to go but not sure my wife will be up for it if it's a sardine like situation in there!

Even for headliners that tent is never normally FULL. Head to either side and you'll find space
