Know they only played in 2017 but Foo Fighters have just announced June Europe dates with no UK date yet.
Dave Grohl also casually said that the band have finished a new record, in an interview on the Ringer podcast that was released yesterday. They have a big history of doing small intimate pop up gigs out of nowhere and it's their 25th anniversary.
Glasto gap. Anniversaries galore. Dave Grohl loves a surprise. Could see it happening as a TBC slot...
...maybe
Yes please

imagine thinking
a) Taylor Swift, one of the biggest acts ion the planet, isn't big enough for the Pyramid
b) Calvin "i shit out no.1 hits for fun" Harris isn't Pyramid level.
c) the Chemical Brothers are edgy.
Hahaha been slated a bit haven't i. Yeah taylor is popular but her music isn't good and the fact festivals are making an effort to make the gender split more 50:50 has definitely influenced her as a booking. Calvin harris is not pyramid material either. He is by far not as big as taylor and as an edm/techno artist, comparable to chems, far more mainstream. The chemical brothers have a special thing with glasto that ch just doesnt have and as far as im aware chems are the only people of their genre to headline the p because of that connection.

Agreed, in my follow up post I did mention that at least Calvin Harris could be considered 'Pyramid headliner level' its just that he's not the sort of act they'll have take that slot. But the other 2 are pretty standard Other sized headliners. I could see Calvin, PSB and an act like The Strokes definitely meeting the 'Pyramid headliner level' criteria. One is a standard sized Other headliner, one is a hugely popular commercial act whose big enough to headline the Pyramid but their act doesn't quite fit and lastly an established international headline band who would easily be able to headline the Pyramid in a normal year.
Nahhhh calvin harris is not pyramid level. He isnt edgy enough like chemicals are; he's too mainstream. I know so is taylor but tbh i have no idea why she's playing except to keep that gender ratio as equal as possible

If you get lucky tomorrow why not do a second festival with Oxfam , not only are you raising money for a good cause but in 2021 you will have priority and no worries about getting tickets
I would more than likely do boardmasters depending on their lineup which is also released tomorrow morning

Thanks for your response. Did you camp in the VIP area last time?
No

Hello
I'm hoping that someone who has camped with a camper van at Boardmasters can help.
I'm taking my 14 year old son to the festival and have a camper van. We bought VIP tickets (because I'm old and wanted to have some space and hot showers.) We also love surfing
Looking on the site I dont think that they have a VIP section for camper vans. So my questions are:
- Are the spaces allocated for camper vans spread out - or are we cramped like sardines?
- Is the camper van area really noisy? And does it feel safe?
- Typically, is the camper van area near the beach? We have nightmare images of having to walk an hour carrying our surfboards to the beach. - So is it better for us to hire surfboards there?
- Also - is there a VIP camper van area? This would be the best solution for us!
-
The other option is for me to take a tent and stay in the VIP area. Does anyone know if the carpark for VIP is close to the tents (for when I get our surfboards)
Sorry for the ton of questions and thanks in advance
John
This might help (map from 2019 but 2020 will be similar). The beach is located if you carried on going left off the map. I know watergate bay is a walkable distance from the festival, as the main site is literally on the cliff and you can see the beach at the bottom, but may be a bit awkward with boards. I didn't walk down when i went in 2018 but i would guess its maybe a 25 minute walk without carrying stuff

Kooks subbing with Royal Blood headlining Truck? Rumour has it RB are at Boardies n Y Not
Could easily see them at both tbh. I'm very happy with bombay and catfish as headliners for truck but at this point i would prefer a different band than the kooks to headline

Coldplay are definitely definitely definitely playing! 50th Anniversary. 5th year for coldplay headlining. Let's be honest nobody NOBODY could celebrate that feat as much as them
Ah. got that a bit wrong didnt i? lol

You will be fine lol i guarantee. Just get her to wear a fair bit of makeup and look older

Blossoms, The Streets, Ian Brown, Bombay Bicycle Club is the prediction
Please please just give me ONE of The Streets, Chemical Brothers or BMTH. Chemical Bros preferably, already seeing The Streets twice this summer.
Haha i would be mad happy with that too mate but tbh can't see any of them doing it. Bmth are too metal. Streets could but i dont think so and chems are headlining a fair few other bigger uk fests so. They were so good at boardies in the pouring rain though

should be some help
Thank you but this is part of 'the obvious' along with water aid and greenpeace. Ive signed up for all 3 but i know they all will be oversubscribed so need backups

i wanna throw in Florence just to mix it up a bit despite the fact she is a massive act. Then agree with catfish as a returning headliner and defo defo bombay
-
I think bombay is a good shout for headlining, then surely a band who has previously headlined and then another who i have no idea about

My point is that they're so old (and so are we) that kids today could well have never heard of them and it would say nothing.
I'm 17 and love talking heads but i know most people my age wouldn't know them but would recognize the songs.
-
If anyone is like 99% confident on a headliner can you please say so i can place a £500 bet and make big wins. Danke!

Courteeners
Catfish & The Bottleman
Alt-J
I would be well happy with that despite alt j being crap live. Need to see crystal fighters playing sometime over the weekened!!

What we saying then?
Worth taking the risk, same lineup as 2019 or a new one?

To be honest that looks a bit rank. Impressive crowd, but it looks uncomfortably overcrowded.
This is a video i took from right at the front. It was very squashed and i nearly fell over and lost my hat a few times but was also fucking epic!

Okay, so here's a question. You're allowed three headliners:
-one has to have headlined the festival before
-one has to have played the festival, but not headlined the Pyramid before
-one has to have never played the festival before
Who do you pick?
Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Led zeppelin
Foo Fighters

Had a lil dream last night after reading this forum yesterday. Was with dave irl for some reason and asked him if he was gonna come play a secret set at glasto this year and said he should. He looked back at me with a look like i cant give anything away but its happening. I then added they need to play for all the cows. I think my source is pretty strong lol
