  1. Hi everyone,

Some of you may have seen the various news stories about incidents of sexual harassment and assault at festivals (in the UK and beyond) this year and previous years. The issue seems to be gaining increasing interest and attention, particularly by the media, but some performers/bands and festival networks have also highlighted the problem over the last couple of years but there is currently no national data on the extent, nature or responses to sexual harassment. I am currently leading a British Academy funded project looking at this (my details are below) and would greatly appreciate your help

If you have worked or volunteered at any UK music festival in the last few years please complete our short survey (only 13 questions!) - https://durham.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/sexual-harassment-and-violence-at-festivals-experience-o

If you have attended a festival and witnessed or experienced harassment or violence and are happy to speak anonymously about this please get in touch - we can arrange a short telephone or face-to-face interview (we have funds to cover travel and subsistence costs for you to come to Durham or somewhere else convenient) - Hannah.bows@durham.ac.uk

If you have any questions please do let us know. We have information sheets available. You can also follow us on Twitter @SafetyStudy and read more about our project on our website: https://safetystudydurham.wordpress.com

If you have suggestions on where we can share this please let us know and please feel free to share this with your friends and networks!

  3. Thank you all for completing the survey and providing the comments above. We are closing the survey in a week or two but have almost 500 responses so far - please do feel free to share this with your networks if your feel able to. I will come back on here and post the final report (with permission) or indicate where you can find it in a few months when we complete the analysis.

    Thanks again!

  4. Hi everyone,

We are a team of researchers at Durham University looking at safety and crime at UK music festivals. We have designed a short survey to examine experiences over the last year and would be very grateful if you could fill this in. We will be providing evidence directly to festival organisers on how they can improve safety and crime at festivals from this research.

    Survey link: https://durham.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/safety-and-crime-at-uk-music-festivals-2018-final-2

For any questions please contact the lead researcher, Hannah Bows - Hannah.bows@durham.ac.uk
