it's two rounds right? like the presidency thing where narrow it down to two for 2nd vote?

    It shall be, oui.

Which is perhaps where this will get more interesting given what the potential range is for the Le Pen gang. If it followed this poll, it would basically just give us a slightly different version of the current status, as at present, Macron's party is the largest but doesn't have a majority.

Yes a new contract would be silly, but a utd thing to do.

I would have changed to be honest, to many heavy defeats against the big boys last 2 years. But the choices were a bit naff, tuchel not for me. End of the day the squad is not good enough, especially strikers. Can we have Isak?

You would imagine it has to be top 4 next season, no matter about injuries.

A new contract is a bit of a surprise hint, but then again, some papers are suggested they aren't willing to offer big transfer/wage budgets and that may well have put people off.

I think Tuchel and Poch would've been good hires, but equally, it's a strange scenario to be in.

Isak? Well he's in negotiations for a new Newcastle deal and has said he's happy there, so unless we get something stupidly high, he's probably sticking around. I'm aware of the FFP stuff, which is also pissing off Aston Villa, though reports are some other players could be sold and means we don't need to sell Isak, Gordon and Bruno. Though I would also guess Newcastle and Man United might not have the smoothest relationship for such a transaction given the argument over appropriate compensation for Dan Ashworth.

Well yes. The early suggestion is that it'll be a few gains by the Le Pen gang but not enough for a majority, but this nature of parties competing for alliances has lead to this curious self-destructive start for Les Republicans if they're already squabbling. And indeed, no doubt other parties will be having these tensions, given I'm aware Macron has sub-40% popularity in recent polls.

Seems to be even messier, given that Les Republicans have tried to fire their leader but said leader says he's going nowhere, while the Zemmour party that's further right of Le Pen has already fallen into some just-as spectacular in-fighting.

Green Day on Tuesday for me, playing both American Idiot and Dookie in full. They were truly fantastic.

Absolutely unfathomable that they haven't even played Glastonbury. It would be unbelievable.

I thought they might have been an outside chance for this run of shows only for Isle of Wight to get there first and Wembley to be Glasto Saturday.

I'm seeing them in Manchester next Friday. Already contemplating which hoodie to wear given how sh*t this summer's weather has been.

I suppose 2 trophies in 2 years swayed it.

A few have said the FA Cup Final win was the pivotal moment that suggested ETH was someone that could work with the new Man United structure that Ineos want to put in place. In fairness, I can see that being true - the trophy helps but the way they did it also indicates there is still a degree of potential there, even if it wasn't enough for van Gaal.

I can see why they're doing it tbf and I know a lot of Man Utd fans on social media have been forgiving given the injuries and the still incoherent nature of their squad, but it's not often you see a club like Man Utd keep faith in the manager that took them down 5 places and saw them mauled in the Champions League. Although some have suggested he has lost some of his control on signings and might well be vulnerable to a quick sacking if they start next season slowly like Brendan Rodgers was at Liverpool in 2015.

Well my friends in Crete on holiday posted it was nearly 40C there. My heating came on today and I’ve been freezing in the office all day🙄

Weather at the moment is just stupid.

I know a lot of it feels nonsensical.

I contemplated going to Seville last week for a getaway after a wedding but couldn't get it arranged. Had I gone, it would've been 35-40 degrees C, which I really wouldn't have been able to handle. Same with the near-miss that was contemplating seeing a show in Rome last summer on a day that was 42 degrees C, which I suspect would've been painful.

I always take wellies for this reason! Don't tempt the weather gods!!

One of those "better to have but not need them then need them but not have them" states of mind huh.

I still recall turning up at Reading 2011 just for the final day in box-fresh white trainers without knowing that the wet weather had turned the main stage area into a mudbath. During Muse's set, it felt like the moshpit was on an ice rink and tons of us were about to fall over when the riff to New Born properly got going.

2011 Wed/Thurs/Fri I seem to remember being garbage. Torrential rain from 8am Wed setting up.

I couldn't get anywhere near Silver Hayes/John Peel and I had terrible blisters from the rubbing of my wellies. It dried up Sat/Sun.

On 2011's Friday, I went to go see The Killers at Hyde Park in London and one of the support acts said "Be happy you're here and not at Glastonbury where it's raining"

Sure enough, I think it showered during the Kaiser Chiefs' headline support set, while about 2/3 songs into The Killers' set, the heavens really opened and it pissed it down for the rest of the thing. I don't think it was as bad as U2's Glasto set, which I saw for the first few songs at least was subject to a proper deluge, but it was still enough to be damp with.

This could be copium or denial but I feel like it's risky going all-in 5 months out to say it's in the bag like this seems to be.

I would agree Trump is the favourite as it stands, but I don't think it's guaranteed, especially given there's still scope for a lot of crazy sh*t to happen. I'm aware Biden's campaign has ground to make up, so I'm not going to run up and down convinced he's absolutely going to win because it's clearly not a guarantee, but it feels like a lot of people are creating this self-reinforcing narrative that Trump's absolutely going to win and I'm yet to be swayed that it's all nailed on.

Well that and 34% is still higher odds than most people gave Trump winning on the morning of the 2016 election.

Makes me nostalgic for when my mate's band did two shows there back in 2013. Both of which were very good times.

Though the fact they've only played 3/4 times since indicates it didn't exactly make them.

Has it ever happened at Glasto that the same artist makes a guest appearance at two simultaneous gigs?

Phoebe Bridgers could possibly pop up at SZA (Ghost in the machine) and The National (This Isn't helping, Laugh Track, Your mind is not your friend)

Would be a surprise. But would be cool tbf.

we'll see. I still think it is a ridiculous gamble by Macron when he is so unpopular.

07 was muddy, raining constantly and had that wet mud that splashed everywhere. Everyone had mud in their teeth.

It's kinda wild that 2005 had this ginormous flood, and then after taking 2006 off, 2007 was comparably bad.

That double whammy probably did as much as the seemingly unusual headliner choices to make 2008 a slow-seller.

    Ten Hag stays 😆

    Now that is a surprise.

Almost like they failed to convince Tuchel & Poch to come in as a replacement so decided he was better than some of the suggested alternatives. Or at least that's the primary reason I can think of for such an unexpected call.

Not to say that some are unhappy with Eric Ciotti for this move, but he locked himself in his office to avoid talking to several high-ranking members of his party who don't want an alliance with Le Pen et all. Which probably doesn't bode well for their chances.

Getting cheap Foo Fighters and Wet Leg tickets on Twickets for Thursday as the prices seem to be coming down with so many on there, then its Liam Gallagher Sunday and Green Day next Friday. Just warming up for Glastonbury...

Gives me hope that I might get cheaper on the day tickets for The Killers at London O2 next month.

There have been polls suggesting Trump's conviction has lead to the narrowing of his lead. No wonder his eco-system is trying it's best to frustrate the other 3 trials around this guy.

Decent start tbf. Certainly guarantees he won't be playing to only 20 people because everyone else forgot to arrange babysitters, had other commitments, were out the country, etc.
