I don't think so. All the stages are far enough (and separated by trees, stands, people...) to don't have soundbleeding and if you were together with 40k persons waiting for The Strokes I'm sure you wouldn't understand that much about Bonobo's set.

It's a very nice festival, but every day you better choose the 3-4 shows you want to attend more and enjoy them. Anything more is a bonus (like half shows from a certain distance)

You're probably right. My festivals experience is usually more... hectic. 6-8 shows a day at RW for example. Guess it's a different experience.

Do you have any idea when should we expect the timetable? I see that last year it was published much earlier

The distance is not big but it's more a matter of organization and people. The show on one stage starts suddenly when the other show is finished and it's impossible to get a good spot on every show.

For an example, last year's sunday had Foals (Grande), Bonobo (Cascade), The Strokes (Grande) and almost everyone took a spot for Foals and stayed there for Strokes. Bonobo played in front an almost empty field and walking from/to the Grande Scene during that evening was really hard.

Interesting. And those waiting for the strokes were able to hear, see the Bonobo show?

In other words, can I wait for 1 act and still get a glimpse from the other?

It's a big city festival, has some corporate sponsorship but not as much as say Mad Cool. Its a decent vibe but like a lot of big city festivals you'll find a lot of people are there to socialise and catch one or two big acts and they aren't necessarily hammering it from stage to stage.

You can get right down the front for all stages with general admission, subject obviously to the usual considerations of getting their early if you're really keen on being in the barrier. There is a VIP option but the viewing area is that an angle to the side of main stage so doesn't massively get in the way if general admission punters.

It's a long thin site and you could find yourself doing a lot of walking if you are stage hopping.

Thanks for this helpful post! May I ask how far do you estimate the two big stages are from each other? Grande and Cascade?

That can only be done if they only do 1-hour-long sets with no time inbetween the three. Even then, the first one starts in the daylight.

If you want them to play, let's say, 1.5 hours, then the first one is playing their full set in sunshine, and possibly Skrillex would do the first half an hour of his set in daylight as well.

I think he had a Coachella like, joint set in mind (when all 3 filled in for frank ocean)

  5. In what seems like the weakest festival year in recent memory, this line up shapes up to be great for me.

I'm considering whether I should buy a 4 or 3 days pass, giving up the maneskin day. How soon do you expect 3days tix to sell out? Maybe based on last year?

stormzy as a headliner is as underwhelming as it can get for sziget (especially for the 30th edition). he has less than half of lorde’s monthly listeners and everybody complained about lorde getting a headline spot. at least I hope we are gonna get 7 headliners and he s going to double head with somebody else. and also really hope the second announcement is going to be better cause the first one seems really sh*tty so far imo

Stormzy subbed this year at RW and while he gave a proper show, the audience was a mess. It was raining and he performed before Mumford and Sons (not exactly the same audience). The audience, at least not from the front rows, seemed almost indifferent

Wow, so many of these names are around this year.
edit: btw Kasabian had one of the smallest crowds of these headliners that year.

Well, their loss. I only got to see them this year at RW for the first time, without Tom, but they were FIRE.

  8. Currently, this is my favorite lineup this summer - LCD and Massive Attack are the best headliners I could ask for this summer.

However, as my friend just moved to Budapest, Sziget became a very comfortable and cheap option for me.

    Therefore, 2 questions, please:

    1. It is my impression that Sziget and Rock En Sien tend to share acts. Especially headliners. Do you share this impression?

    2. When should I expect full Festival tickets to sell out, based on previous years? I wonder if it's realistic to wait until sziget, or even LL, announce first names

Not sure to agree on this one. There was P!nk in 2019, Billie was supposedbly planned for this year but the schedule change made her go to Pkp... This year we had big pop/hip-hop acts on main stage. Stormzy was there to headline, Stromae planned to headline, Oscar and the wolf sub. Granted that the last 2 are belgian, but I really think this type of name is more and more common in RW, so I don't see why Dua wouldn't work.

Simply because it does not happen 🙂

P!nk is many things, pop oriented, but she's not a pop-dance artist and she's rocking like hell. Billie is a fantastic performer, but it didn't happen, so I dont see how she is a relevant example. Stormzy is a rapper, irrelevant for the discussion. And as you stated - both Stromae and Max (oatw) are Belgian and they would never get the headlining spot otherwise.

Take a look at the past 10 years. No fresh, internatiional, mainstream pop-dance act has been named a main stage headliner. This is not how RW invest the big money. It just does not happen.

Was there ever a better illustration of the difference between not giving a f**k while being cool and pretending to not give a f**k while being totally cringy than comparing Julian Casablancas and Alex Turner on stage?

Haha you got a point mate

But I will say that AM were also great this summer (compared to their lousy tour in 2018)
