    IMO there classics include:

LL&D has Let's Dance To Joy Division, Moving To New York and Kill The Director (which are literally the only 3 songs I ever listen to on their album)

Modern Glitch had Tokyo, Techno Fan, 1991 and Jump into the Fog that I think most people would recognise (+Anti D)

Glitterbug had Greek Tragedy and Your Body Is A Weapon (plus lot's of solid songs like Give Me A Try, Emoticons and Pink Lemonade)

BPWRYL only really has Turn (plus probably Lemon To A Knife Fight, White Eyes and I Don't Know Why You Like Me But I Do)

Assuming they get 45 minutes (about 9 or 10 songs) I'd go with a tracklist something like this:

    1. Moving To New York

    2. Lemon To A Knife Fight

    3. Jump Into The Fog

    4. I Don't Know Why You Like Me But I Do (or some other album track from the new album)

    5. Give Me A Try

    6. Tokyo

    7. Let's Dance To Joy Division

    8. Greek Tragedy

    9. Techno Fan

    10. Turn

Thats 2 from LL&D, 3 from Modern Glitch, 2 from Glitterbug and 3 from the new album

Probably would say cut Techno/Jump into the fog and add kill the director. I imagine the new album song would be cheetah tongue, lethal combination or black flamingo they seem to be the most popular 3 (excluding lemon and turn)

Yeah the crowd were loving the hits and new songs and like you say, songs from Glitterbug. There were only three songs I can vividly remember the crowd not getting into and they were 1996, Techno Fan and Jump Into The Fog which are surprisingly some of the more well known ones.

Thats really strange, I saw them at the hippodrome for that launch show and Jump into the Fog is a big one. Techno and 1996 not so much. I 'm happy for the setlist seeing them at ally pally next tuesday! I agree with not being too happy about the new album.

I'd say it goes Glitterbug, LL&D then BPWRYL tied with Modern Glitch (although modern glitch is carried VERY heavily by Tokyo) I like how Glitterbug has basically all good songs for me at least (including the two bonus tracks, Flowerball is one of my favourites of theirs shame they'll never play it live tbh) the only two i don't like are Isobel and Curveballs (curveballs is okay though. LL&D definitely has the hits on just half of the album is garbage imo

I feel like Royal Blood are playing it very smart, not overexposing themselves in every field around unlike previously touted future headliners such as 2DCC and the Vaccines. Building anticipation up and focusing on being more established globally and setting themselves up instead of taking the easy dollar and playing everywhere over here which many up and coming bands find hard to resist.

in defense of 2dcc, they are community exclusive this year and only did two fests last year + y not which was cancelled and a tour about a year and a bit of ago, by the next time they are in the runnings for headliner they should be fine keeping at this rate. Just hope they manage to go back to the Tourist History quality

Dudey Rhino is still predicting the likes of Royal Blood, Stereophonics and Catfish and the Bottlemen...

Saw that like i actually don't understand that man he thinks hes some sort of R&L expert yet he wants like 7 headliners and 5 co headliners in one year.

  5. 3 hours ago, dentalplan said:

Besides, even if R+L don’t name them as such, many of the acts are gonna at least be English festival exclusives. Including the headliners, which is commendable in a year where every other festival has one of Stereophonics, The Killers and Liam Gallagher headlining.

or simply just say Catfish and you've covered half the festivals honestly

I did 2016 too and I thought 2017 was way better for my tastes.

I didn't have any killer acts in 2016, but 2017 had Flume, Oh Wonder, Glass Animals and Muse who I all love

You have great taste. Did you go to EE before Glass Animals and Flume? My friends went and made me see them last night and they do not disappoint, best concert i've done even though the crowd was awful during Sundara (the support) it was like EE but lowkey became EDM especially for Night of the long knives, that song was incredible live been humming it since.

I'm selling one GA ticket for the 25th - £50.

I'm not a tout, I chose two tickets to this event as part of Samsung's AEG promotion when I upgraded my mobile, totally legit.

You would need to enter the event with me, as this is an E-Ticket.

    Message me if interested

woah they're giving out freebies for this already? that probably doesn't bode well

Yeah these adverts are plastered over my bus stop, can also see The Cure at BST plus other big acts like Katy Perry or Nickelback, quite a few other festivals too.

I think £70 is very fair value for all of the days, given their quality (and with more to come).

But hopefully you find a means to find for less.

third quote, but at the moment I don't know LCD or Yeah Yeah Yeahs really, like i'm sure i'd know more closer to the time but currently i'm in it for Superorganism, Glass Animals and Phoenix. Generally when i go to stuff i tend to like the support/another act more than who i booked the tickets for ^_^

  8. Yeah i'm thinking of waiting till closer to the time for LCD's day, I don't have enough interest to want to go for £70+ but at like £40-£50 i'm willing to cough up

Just booked LCD Soundsystem. Trying to decide which others to plump for and if any will sell out or not.

Think I'll end up booking The National next payday and then trying on the day for Bjork and Nick Cave

  9. New festival was announced, two days in late July in Plymouth.

£25/day or £45 for the weekend and the first headliner announced is Bastille for Day 1. Seems to be some good value for money there I wonder who the second headliner will be

    https://www.oceancitysounds.co.uk/

According to the FAQs, Night one (Thursday) will be a pop/contemporary line up and night two (Friday) will be a retro 80s/90s line up.

Yeah the second stage won't clash with QOTSA. To be honest I'm expecting it to just be the six acts listed down the bottom so it may well be wrapped up before Iggy Pop too

At community last year, nobody interrupted the Wombats who were sub headlining or Catfish so should be done before Iggy Pop, the music did start early on at about 1pm I think.

  11. Reading:

Friday - Florence, Courteneers, The Wombats, Don Broco, Pale Waves, Big Shaq, Chainsmokers, Cage the Elephant, Lower than Atlantis, 30STM

Saturday - Kendrick Lamar, The Hunna, Foster the People, Dua Lipa, Hannah Wants, Everything Everything, Pendulum, SZA, Portugal the Man, The Kooks

Sunday - Arctic Monkeys, MGMT, Wolf Alice, Bicep, Fickle Friends, Slaves, Sherlocks, Pixies, Brockhampton, Wilkinson

I wouldn't call it shocking, but it is defo the worst album they put out (would have made a great EP tho).

IDK why you think all the songs sound similar. The issue for me is that they all sound pretty different. You go right from a slower sythy song into a fast paced bassy/screechy opening or whatever. Nothing holds any of the tracks together (unlike Glitterbug which were all done in a similar style etc.)

I would have agrred Wombats were nailed on but the fact they haven't been announced for any fests yet is a bit suspicious imo. Guess they could just be waiting till after their tour finishes to announce stuff but still

I don’t know, like I put it on this morning as its at the end of my playlist on the bus and i kind of like didn’t even notice stuff and i kind of zoned out until i got back to the start of my playlist as it was a different artist. Still Turn is one of my favouritrd now so i guess its just kind of like This modern glitch for me, not many good songs but i love the good ones. I’m sure it will grow on me.

You don’t need to be massive to play Ally Pally. I saw Don Broco there and the Wombats a decade ago were more popular than Don broco have ever been.

They played one of those Small shows last night in Reading and it was their like hits setlist. I have a friend oint to see the blackpool one on Saturday so we’ll see but last night they played both.

Chances of The Wombats playing? Just dropped their new album and would love to see it live

    I'd Say 100%

Seeing them on Thursday at the Hippodrome and again at ally pally, god the album is shocking I think, a lot of the songs sound really similar - still love the wombats in general though its just a shame. Anyway the hits set is awesome !!

They aren't playing on the National day at ape (I'm assuming that's what you are referring to). Regardless, go alone to see them if no one will go with you. You'll still have a great time

Edit: regarding them playing Reading. Seems very unlikely with them playing ape.

Ah, you sure - APE is the other side of the festival season but yeah. I am not really keen on spending the £70 as the acts I like are really just Phoenix and Glass Animals on that date (haven't tried smaller acts yet) I think i'm going to try get a cheap resale ticket maybe.

I've heard this song many of times but never knew who sang it

If they played, probably 3rd down NME

No way, they have blown up with Feel it Still and kind of appeal to Bastille audience. I would say definitely main stage maybe 3/4 or possibly NME headline with how they’re doing at the moment.

i think it’s just the fact that every song they’ve released (that i’ve heard) sounds exactly the same and it feels very derivative of the 1975’s debut album (settle down in particular) haha. the 1975 have the benefit of a far larger discography but i’d be hard pressed to find songs that sound that similar imo

Honestly i started listening to Pale Waves after seeing them on the Community lineup and like i never really have liked 1975 and would say i prefer Pale Waves. it hink you should listen to Backbeats ~ The Lighthouse though its really 1975y
